It’s surprisingly noisy in the Cerulean Cave. The guard at the door let Red in, raised an eyebrow at Green and an even higher one at Sabrina, but finally allowed them all access. It was dark, but the moment he had Raichu use Flash, a swarm of angry Golbat descended upon them.

That did not make anyone happy.

Sabrina’s Alakazam and Raichu beat most of them off, while Green looked faintly annoyed. Her Mr. Mime had helpfully erected a Light Screen defense around them, and now, as the bats retreated, the road once again became clear.

It was mostly water, spotted here and there with rocky islands. How odd. Still, they were near the sea, so it was probably all right.

“Wow.” Red breathed, as she recalled her Mr. Mime. “That was so cool, Sabrina!”

She felt her cheeks tint at the praise, and gave him a smile, as they walked towards the water line. She heard Green make a derisive snort as he released his Blastoise in a flash of red light.

“You won’t have any water pokemon, being a psychic type trainer.” The clear disdain in his voice might have stung, but she has improved greatly since he defeated her a month ago.

“Green, that’s rude!” Red protested. He smiled and turned to her. “Don’t worry! You can ride Lapras with me! She won’t mind!”

“No, I don’t mind at all.” The gentle pokemon said, when she was released and the situation explained.

Red and Sabrina climbed on. Raichu settled on Sabrina’s lap, much to her surprise. The electric mouse winked, her cheeks sparking slightly, and Sabrina blushed as a thought flitted across her mind.

I hope you and Red become mates!

Sabrina was not quite sure how to respond to the statement.

On one of the islands, they found several wild pokemon, Electrode and Magneton, but no sign of Mewtwo.

On the second island, there was a tall boulder. Closer inspection revealed a Full Restore buried beneath it.

The third island was much larger, but several boulders blocked their way. Green impatiently released his Arcanine, barking out an order for Strength.

Arcanine managed to push several boulders out of the way, but others blocked the path. Sabrina narrowed her eyes.

            Perhaps there was some pattern…

Red seemed to have picked this up also, and he asked Raichu to go up and look. Raichu related all she saw to Lapras, who translated.

“Push that boulder on the far right up, and the one next to it to the right. Then those…” Red instructed.

Green looked huffy, but ordered his Arcanine in the directions. This time, the path stood out clearly before them. They walked on.

Thirty yards later, there was a ladder descending to a lower level. Green went down first, followed by Sabrina, and finally Red.

Sabrina would not have minded, except Green had the gall to leer at her. It was a good thing she wore skintight black leggings underneath her pale lavender tunic.

            Pervert.

She landed, gave Green a dirty look, and waited until Red had come down. The three of them continued forwards.

They ran into several wild pokemon – Rhydon and more Golbat, and a Marowak, but there was still no sign of Mewtwo.

They headed deeper into the cave. Two more levels down, they reached another watery level full of miniature islands.

Green gave a whoop of triumph as he jumped on Blastoise and surfed across. “Looks like I win, Red! I saw Mewtwo first!”

Red shrugged. As long as one of them found and captured Mewtwo so that Professor Oak would have the pokedex data, he did not much care who it was.

Blaine had warned him that Mewtwo was dangerous and had killed all of the scientists who had worked to create him.

            He didn’t want to die!

Sabrina hugged Red closely, feeling the fear radiating off him. “It’s all right, Red. I’m here with you.”

Red nodded, forcing a small smile and Lapras resisted the urge to coo at them.

Moments later, there was a loud splash, and when Sabrina and Red looked, they saw an unconscious Green floating in the water.

            Sabrina tsked.

“Well, that’s not good…” Red told her. Sabrina nodded, releasing her Slowbro and Venomoth and Mr. Mime, as she and Red waited. Sure enough, Mewtwo flew by a split second later and would have probably killed Green, but that was when Charizard grabbed him. Mewtwo flung Charizard away, only to encounter a Blizzard attack from Lapras and a Thunderbolt from Raichu.

“Jigglypuff, Sing!” Red cried, releasing her.

Jigglypuff nodded, beginning to croon a tune, the cave interior echoing and amplifying her soothing song. Mewtwo raged and attacked, splintering the Light Screen defense Mr. Mime had hastily thrown up, but Sabrina’s Venomoth had taken the brunt of the attack and she and Red were relatively unscathed.

There was something in Red’s eyes, as he stood, and reached for a poke ball, and Sabrina wanted to tell him no, there was no chance, but as he opened it, there was a dazzling flash, a spray of golden stars, and Mewtwo…

            Mewtwo was captured.

Sabrina recalled Alakazam, still shocked, as Red picked up the Master Ball. He hadn’t wanted to use it, but under these conditions, he could have done nothing else.

The Pallet trainer clipped it to his belt, and then turned to his pokemon. They looked exhausted, bruised and battered, but were all beaming with happiness that they had triumphed.

He passed out hugs in giddy relief, while Sabrina had Alakazam gather up the group and Teleport them all to the Cerulean City Pokemon Center. The Nurse on duty there quickly took their pokémon off to be healed, and put Green to bed, calling a Chansey to look over him.

It was only until then that Red realized that he had done what Green had been unable to do. He had defeated Mewtwo!

He hugged Sabrina tightly and then they danced round and round the Center, laughing in relief and exuberant glee. Finally, Sabrina gathered her courage and kissed him.

Red didn’t mind at all, and kissed back, and then they ran off to celebrate.

I like Zensho. It’s so cute! But anyways, come on, if a kid can leave home and face death at age 10 in the pokemon world, is romance so bad?

… Some of these are good prompts, so they’re longer than 15 minutes. ^^ It makes up for all the drabbles…

I don’t like Green, as I think he’s a rude, selfish bastard. Thus he is portrayed as one.
