Ash wakes up and realizes that he has no idea where he is. Admittedly, this is isn’t a new scenario by any means, but he’s left all his traveling partners behind and struck out on his own, and he sighs as he releases Fearow to scan.

Fearow reports nothing more than trees, which is wonderful. He’s in another forest somewhere in the Cosmos Region, and he doesn’t have Pikachu to translate for him since he’s at home with his mate, Minun, who is pregnant with two eggs.

Ash wants to throw a temper tantrum, but he isn’t ten years old any longer and it’s dark and muggy and he’s aggravated!

What is he supposed to do?

Any direction seems as good as another, so he packs up his camping gear and then climbs on Fearow’s back, and they fly around for a bit but there’s nothing except woods as far as the eye can see, so finally, he picks south and strikes off.

Two hours later, he’s running from a herd of angry Poochyna, wondering why the heck they’re here, and he accidentally runs over another Trainer who is sunbathing in a small clearing with his Sandslash.

A.J. blinks as he realizes that he’s sprawled on the ground with a vaguely familiar looking Trainer splayed on top of him and there’s a pack of angry dog Pokemon heading this way, so he decides to question the other guy about it later. For now, he thinks that running would be a very good idea.

He and Ash hop on his Pidgeot, and as they soar off.

Ash squirms a bit, uncomfortable. What should he do? He vaguely recognizes this Trainer, but he’s met so many people on his journey that the names and faces kind of blur. The teen does not seem to want to talk to him, either.

Eventually they land in a city Ash hasn’t seen before, though his PokeNav helpfully identifies it as Emerald City. This is where he can challenge Kamen for a Jupiter badge. Awesome!

He heals his Pokemon at the Center, thanks A.J., and then skips off.

A.J. shrugs, scratches his head, and puts the incident out of his mind.

Kamen uses two types of Pokémon, electric and grass, which is a strange combination, but Ampharos fries his Fearow after it takes down the Chikorita, and it’s a long struggle – he uses Muk, who is surprisingly resistant to electric moves, before finally sludging the electric sheep into oblivion.

Kamen nods, gives him the badge, and then tells him to check out the sights. Apparently he was wandering lost in the Emerald Forest.

Every region has at least one spooky forest. There’s Viridian in Kanto, and Ilex in Johto, and Petalburg Woods… the list goes on, and Ash feels just a bit annoyed. But everything seems to worked out for the best, and that’s all that matters.

Stupid stomach flu…

And I do own the Cosmos Island, League, and the new Pokemon created for that region. They first show up in CCA.

There is no romance in this story, just to make it clear.
