Mikami is a very abstract person. He sees the world in black and white, good and evil, right and wrong. Kira is God, thus, Kira is law and justice. L is the enemy, for only evil would oppose good.

Ryuk, on the other hand, is quite hard for the virtuous prosecutor to define. Ryuk is a servant of Kira, thus, he should be pure and right. However, the Shinigami’s demonic appearance and craven addiction – to apples, of all things, is startling.

For a few days, he ponders, on the subway on the way to work, before he comes to an unassailable conclusion.

If God is divine, then his ways are more than mere mortals can fathom. So too, are the workings of his minions.

Satisfied, Mikami stops by the corner grocery to pick up a few apples for Ryuk, and heads home.

Ryuk just laughs when he figures out the prosecutor’s way of thinking, but as long as he gets his apples, he doesn’t bother with philosophy.

I had to retype my Japanese essay yet again. What a pain!

Mikami and Ryuk are so NOT a pairing! Its just introspection!

6 minutes!
