Tortuous shrieks filled the air while the sun rose. Lance watched, a strange half-smile twitching at the corners of his lips, while the vampires hissed and screamed, bodies dissolving into fine ash. He watched almost proudly, before he shifted, and a black-winged raven winged away.
He was the best, or so it was said, and indeed, he had never been caught and never been bitten.
Lance smirked as he accepted the payment from the mayor of the town, who stammered and gave many thanks in a trembling voice.
Fools.
He was a child of the night, but he wasn’t like those filthy beasts. Oh no, he was born to wreak vengeance and so he would, and no one ever did notice…
How mysterious illnesses swept the countryside after he left. How sometimes, whole villages would be wiped off the face of the map, not even dust left. They never would make the connection.
