            “I don’t understand.”

“You wouldn’t.” Lance said sharply, glaring at Yellow. Red laid a restraining hand on his wife’s arm, and the redheaded woman sighed, closing her eyes.

“The Forest’s powers never come singly. You are lucky. Gifted, I suppose. The rest of us were never as fortunate.”

“What do you mean?” Yellow frowned. “We both have Viridian’s Power. You just choose to use it for evil.”

Her tone of absolute self-righteousness caused the Dragon Master to narrow her eyes, feeling rage bubble up inside her chest. It took a moment for her to calm down enough to speak rationally again.

“You do not feel as strongly as I do, certainly. When you pull away, you no longer hear a Pokemon’s thoughts. But imagine, if you can, never being able to walk away and hearing the current of a hundred thousand lifetimes in your mind, clamoring for vengeance against humanity.”

Yellow gaped at Lance. Red nodded.

“Why do you think Lance called herself the embodiment of the Pokemon’s vengeance? Pokémon don’t lie, you know. She feels what all Pokemon feel; and the majority of Pokemon are unhappy with the destruction humans have wrought. How could she not act with the voices inside of her?”

“I don’t believe you.” Yellow said shakily. “It’s just an excuse.”

“Say what you will,” Red murmured, before he stood. Lance followed, and for a moment, Yellow sensed a shifting, but then, it was over and it was just a Trainer she loved and a Trainer she hated.

Why did Red like someone like her?

“She’s spoiled.” Red muttered, when they were out of earshot. Lance nodded; eyes half-closed. He smiled.

            “You’re tired, aren’t you?”

“Listening to her Pokemon’s voices was taxing.” Lance replied mildly. “She is so full of herself.”

He chuckled. “That’s why I don’t like her. She’s too naïve. She does not – or perhaps, she refuses to acknowledge that power is a double-edged sword. Or maybe she just got lucky. She certainly doesn’t seem to show the symptoms you do.”

Lance shrugged. “Yellow is a blind fool.”

“Yes.” Red agreed. “I would rather see the entire picture. She sees only what she wants to see. I hope I will never be blind like she is.”

He could stare true evil full in the face and meet it unflinchingly, and he knew that his heart would not be fooled by an imitation.

Lance gave him a crooked smile. “You shall see more than the complete picture with me around, I’m afraid.”

“I don’t mind.” He replied. “I like your pictures.”

She closed her eyes, and Red waited patiently, knowing that the hum inside the Dragon Master’s mind had started again. It must be terrible, but it was a useful power at times, allowing her to influence the minds of a thousand dragons…

Lance finally quieted the voices, and that was when Red kissed her, knowing that now he had her full attention.

Fangs flashed in a smirk, and Lance kissed back, not needing to explain.

Yellow must die… and the idea came to me while I was reading Ella Enchanted. At first I wanted to give Lance the curse of obedience but that might make her OOC… I like gender-bending, and Yellow is such a Mary-Sue!
