They think he died after Cerise. They think that he was burned to a crisp in the lava flows. They scoff and titter behind their hands and say that it served him right. Fancy someone trying to destroy the world so the pokémon would have more space! Foolish, really! He must be mad!

Red knows better, and he laughs behind his emotionless mask as he listens to them chatter. If only they knew the truth…

Lance never wanted to destroy the world, simply humanity’s cities, so they would quit pokémon habitat destruction. And Lance did not die after Cerise…

No one follows the Champion home, so none know that the Dragon Master waits for him to return, and in the bed he lies while a dark heart beats yet.

Red slides into bed with Lance, and kisses him, and laughs.

Their hearts beat as one in the night, and soon, they will return to finish what they started.
