When his parents find out about his relationship with Lance, they disown him.

Red does not understand why it is so bad. True, he won’t be able to have grandchildren, but he never cared about such a thing anyway, and it’s not like Lance is a mass murderer or carrying the plague. But now that they don’t have his parent’s permission, they cannot bond until he is of age – twenty-one.

That is still years away!

He really doesn’t understand, but it hurts, and even as Lance holds him close, he can’t stop crying. He always thought of his parents as nice people, so why are the being so mean?

But when it comes down to it, he will choose Lance over them. Maybe that’s why? If that’s the case, it does not really matter who or what he falls in love with. The result would be the same.

Certainly, they disowned him, but they can’t take away his pokémon, or his badges, or his Championship, and he’s glad he still has those things.

And best of all, they can’t force him to leave Lance.

He feels bittersweet as Lance caresses his face, and kisses him.
