Summary: So Ash has unwittingly and unwilling wound up capturing the league champion who is on the run from the league…. And she’s his pokemon now?

Chapter 3: I must say I haven’t had this experience before…

Ash was awakened the next morning at dawn by Pikachu’s singing.

And the sun rises above the mice, and the mice sing to greet the sun…

It wasn’t a bad song, it was just that he needed sleep.

Ash snuggled up in his sleeping bag and fell asleep again. It wasn’t until four hours later and he woke up again that he registered Lance curled up next to him.

Her wings were wrapped around both of them. The scales were cool and slick like a dragon’s should be, and she was just cuddled up against him, not touching anything, fast asleep.

Ash smiled a bit and untangled himself, before he found a convenient stream, where he took a morning bath to wake up and returned to camp to make breakfast.

Soon, Lance awakened and ate some berries and pokenosh, which made Ash wonder just how much human and pokemon there was. But he didn’t say anything on the subject.

Afterwards, Lance was recalled to her poke ball and Ash spent a few hours training in the woods.

As night fell, Ash made sure that it was safe and no trainers were around before he released her.

            Lance stretched and yawned slightly.

“So, um… I don’t have a pokédex anymore, but what type of pokemon are you? I mean, I know you’re a dragon, but…”

Lance got the gist of what he was trying to say. She focused and a pokédex appeared in his hands.

            “Woah.”

            “I’m a dark/dragon type, Ash.”

Ash nodded and pointed the pokédex at her.

“Type: Dark/Dragon.” The pokédex beeped. “Level: Twenty-five. Attacks: Dragon Rage, Twister, Faint Attack, Slash… However, subject contains attributes of steel pokemon.”

            “Interesting.” Ash mused.

“I have more than four attacks. It’s just not showing them.”

“Oh.” Ash said. “Okay then. I’ll just wait for a wild pokemon to attack.”

Soon, a Rattata showed its head.

“Um… Dragon Rage!” Ash said, still feeling slightly uncomfortable. Lance yawned as a cyclone of blue energy surrounded her and then sucked up the Rattata. It fell out, googly-eyed.

            Lance smirked.

            Ash clapped. “Wow…”

He spent several weeks training Lance until she was on level sixty-seventy like the rest of his pokemon, before he headed off to the gym.

Poor Whitney. She spent almost a week crying her eyes out after that match.

Whenever Lance battled other trainers, the scales would spread over her body and cover her, so she resembled a real dragon. She looked much like a Blue Eyes White Dragon. Her wings spread out sharply from her body, but she could curl up into a little ball as well. Her human features were completely hidden during that time.

It was a handy disguise tactic. That way her secret stayed safe.

            Elsewhere….

            “YOU did what?!”

Oak looked at Gary. “You’re the champion now, aren’t you glad?”

“Gramps! I don’t advocate murder to win!”

            “Then you’re weak.” Oak scoffed.

“I can’t believe you released Ash’s pokemon off into the wild or gave them to other trainers! He worked hard!”

“He did not!” Oak snapped. “Compared to you, he only has about one-eightieth of your pokemon!”

            “So that’s why?”
“Yes! Do you understand now?” Oak commanded.

Gary stared at the wall. “I guess…”

“Good.” Oak said approvingly, and left without a word.

            Back to our heroes…

Ash blushed furiously as Lance cuddled up against him. It had been a tiring battle against Chuck…

            “Lance?”

Lance yawned slightly, showing her sharp canines. “What is it?”

            ‘Are you ok?”

Lance nodded and ruffled her wings slightly, and twitched her tail for a bit, before curling up against him again. Her head rested on his chest, her clawed arms tucked by her sides.

Ash blushed some more at the close proximity of the girl. True, she was a pokemon, but it didn’t really make much of a difference.

            To him, at least…

            ‘Lance?”

            “Hmm?”

“Um… the armor is part of you, right?”

Lance blinked in confusion. “You mean the dark mirror? Yes.”

            “That’s a mirror?”

“Hai.” Lance replied. “Yes, this is a mirror.”

            “Oh.” Ash blinked.

Lance smiled and yawned slightly as she consumed a potion.

            “You seem awfully relaxed.”

“Being a pokemon is a lot more relaxing than being a League Champion, especially combined Kanto and Johto.”

            “Oh…what’s it like?”

            Lance blinked slowly. “What like?”

            “Being inside a poke ball.”

“That? Sleeping. You sleep, most of the time. You can look out through the tops and see what your trainer is doing too. There’s a line that keeps you supplied with nutrients and oxygen, but you don’t eat.”

“So you don’t turn into red energy?”
“No,” Lance said, smiling. “You don’t.”

End Chapter! I just felt like ending it now.
