Disclaimer: Well, I’ve said it before. But I don’t own Pokemon. Ask Nintendo, I’m just borrowing their characters.

Chapter 5: Child of darkness

Lance woke up and red eyes stared at Ash. A smile curved across the master’s lips. * It has begun… *

After many long breaths, the shadows were all absorbed into Ash’s body. A black amulet formed in front of his form and pulsed twice, before he transformed.

Destiny shook out his black and gold wings and opened his golden eyes.

            “You’re awake now?”

“Yes.” Destiny said, a cruel smile lighting his features.

Lance spread out her white-scaled wings and grinned. “I see…” Destiny smiled and sat down next to her.

            “So that’s how you survived.”

“Yes. I used my dark powers to save my life.”

“You were always clever, and you knew how to play with the illusions.”

            “True.”

“I love you still though.” Destiny whispered, kissing her.

Lance smirked. “I know that as well.”

He pushed her down onto the grass and smiled knowingly. “So… what’s it like being a pokemon?”

“As if you don’t know.” She retorted mildly.

He shrugged and leaned against her chest. “Tell me.”

            “Why?”

            “Because I’m bored?”

She left and tickled his shoulders, where feather met flesh. He purred and leaned into her touch.

            “Kawaii…”

            “Let’s play a game…”

It was nightfall when they finally made it to the next city.

“What should we do about the situation?”

            “I say kill them all.”

            Lance smiled. “That bloodthirsty?”

            “Well… I’m bored.”

“That’s not a good sign.” Lance murmured.

            “Well… so what?”

            “Never mind.”

Lance vanished into her Ultra Ball as Destiny cast a quick illusion over himself, before heading to the pokemon center.

It was easy. Healed his pokemon, went to bed.

Although it is doubtful whether he got much sleep.

Ash was awakened the next morning to find Lance snuggled against his chest. He colored hotly, even though it was completely innocent.

Lance shifted in her sleep and scooted next to him on his pillow.

“Cute.” Ash whispered, brushing her blond bangs out of her face. She looked so childlike. But she was older than he was. Odd. It was very odd indeed.

It was still warm, though, so he went back to sleep.

He was awakened by soft kisses. Opening his eyes, Ash blushed hotly when he saw what Lance was doing.

            “Awake?” She asked playfully.

            “L-lance…”

“What?” The pokegirl whispered as she played with his hair.

            “A-ano… are you sure…”

“Baka!” Lance said, tapping his forehead. “You worry too much!”

            “Me?”
            “Mm-hmm.” Lance nodded.

“But! But! I mean shouldn’t we not be um, doing this if, I mean, um?”

Lance sweatdropped. “Do the words ‘We are Soulmates’ mean anything to you?”

Ash frowned as he looked down. “Sorry…”

“I know you’re shy, Ash.” Lance replied. “But are you afraid of me?”

“What? Of course not!” Ash said, shocked.

“Good.” Lance replied before she lip locked him.

Ash blinked twice. “Lance? What are you?”

“Showing how much I love you.” Lance purred.

            Ash paled. * Bad thoughts… *

She trailed kisses down his neck, and gave him a wonderful massage. He felt like putty in her hands. So when she claimed him, he didn’t really care. After all, he was hers.

            And she was his.

Gary showed up at the pokemon center the next day.

Standard healing, Ash happened to see him while he was walking down the stairs.

“Ash?!” Gary dropped his tray of poke balls.

            “Long time no see, Gary.”

Lance purred from where she was wrapped around Ash, in full dragon form. Gary’s jaw dropped.

            “Woah!”

“I don’t need normal pokemon anymore.” Ash said. “Your grandfather tried to stop me, but I don’t need him to become a master.”

Gary flushed. “It wasn’t my fault.”

            “I know.”

“If I had known, I would have stopped him.”

“Gary, quit beating yourself over the head. I can tell you haven’t been sleeping or eating well for weeks. Drop it.”

            Gary blinked. “How did you-.”

“Just a feeling. Quit bashing yourself against the wall. It’s a waste of time.”

“… So you forgive me?” Gary asked.

“If it makes you feel better, yes. But it wasn’t ever your fault.”

Gary looked confused. “But… without your pokemon, how are you?”

            Lance hissed.

“I mean, well, I know you have him.”

“Her,” Ash corrected, stroking Lance’s pretty little horns. “She’s a girl.”

            “Wow…”

Ash laughed. “Crushing on a pokemon, Gary?”

            “What? No way!”

“She’ll help me win at the Plateau. I hope to see you there this year.”

“Me too, Ash.” Gary said, regaining his confidence and his cocky spirit. “Hope you’ll do fine, Ash.”

“Don’t worry, Gary. I’ve got all the badges. Now all I have to do is train…”

And with that, Ash walked off into the forest, leaving a befuddled Gary behind.

            “…”
