Ash sat miserably in his room. He had just tried to confess his feelings for the Dragon Master, but Lance had rejected him! Tears ran down his cheeks. Was he that unlovable? And on top of that the look on Lance's face had almost been almost hateful? Why?

Ash rubbed at his eyes. “I... I do like him.”

Meanwhile, in his room, Lance had locked the door and poured himself another glass of wine. He was going to need it tonight! If only Ash hadn't asked. He couldn't love Ash, not this life when they needed the Sword and Shield!

But he hated breaking the little one...

“It's better this way, to stop it before anything begins.”

But even as he said it he felt his own heart breaking...

Lance went to his cabinet and dug out his pills. He dropped two of them into his glass and swallowed the entire thing. * I'm sorry... *

He shook his head.

In his room, Ash was crying silently. "Why..."

He felt humiliated, almost. Maybe he should quit trying? But he didn't want to hate Lance! He just couldn't!

“Why... does he already have a girlfriend?”

Ash shook his head again. Maybe he should leave? Did he need to get stronger? Why did Lance hate him? Was it because of what he did at Lake of Rage? Or when Groudon and Kyogre fought?

Ash buried his face in his hands, beginning to cry in earnest.

The next morning, he took only Pikachu with him and headed to Mount Silver to train.

Master, what’s wrong?

“I need to get better... otherwise, I can't save myself.” Ash sighed. “And I think that's why he hates me. I can't seem to take care of myself at all.”

He looked at Pikachu forlornly.

Pikachu looked sympathetic.

"Maybe Misty was right all along..."

No. Pikachu shook his head.  You are strong, Master...

Ash didn't seem to hear. “What if I really am that pathetic?”

He looked around the mountain miserably. He'd better start training...

Three months later...

Ash studied his new pokemon. Rapidash neighed proudly while Poliwhirl pumped his fists. He even had a Tyranitar now.

He was very proud of himself.

But the real question was, could he go back yet? Was he ready? Maybe if he beat Lance, the Dragon Master would like him.

He had matured over his three month long absence...

Still, did he dare face the one that broke his heart?

He still couldn't hate Lance. He didn't know why. No one else would be able to fill that void.

“Why do I like him? He hurt me so badly...” Ash couldn't really understand it.

"Stupid love." He turned to his pokemon. "But I miss the others, so I should go back."

If you miss your friends and Mate then you must... said his Poliwhirl.

“Lance isn't my Mate, Poli.” Ash sighed.

How do you know that?

“He doesn't want me.” Ash sniffled.

Poli stared. Why do you say that?

“He didn't say anything when I confessed I was in love with him.”

The water pokemon frowned. Poli knew Lance better than his Master did at the moment – the pokemon didn’t forget between lives, after all. He was certain there was a reason for this behavior. Now if only he knew why.

The trainer’s Rapidash nuzzled him.

Poli had known Lance to be cold to his little Mate before, but only once. Ashura didn't want his heart broken twice...

Ash frowned. "Well, I might as well go, just to get my pokemon."

Poli watched his Master sadly.

Poor Master…

Lance must be hiding something. He had a sneaking suspicion what. In any case, it would bode ill.

They arrived back at the Plateau. Ash walked past Lance's office, only to pause at the sound of raised voices inside.

He didn't want to eavesdrop but he couldn’t help it! The voices were so loud!

“You're running out of time, Lance, and Ash still isn't back yet.”

"I know."

“Lance, I swear you’re the thickest person on this green earth sometimes! Why did you hurt him?” The other voice was female...

“You know why! I don't want him to cry for me!”

“And you think he wouldn't cry over what you did? Lance, for one that is supposed to remember, you sure do forget easily! Moltres’s tail feathers, what is wrong with you!”

“At least it hurts less this way.”

Ash was about to walk away, but he had been leaning against the door and suddenly fell into the room.

The woman had been about to slap Lance hard when she saw him sprawled out on the floor.

"Um... why are you talking about me?" Ash asked.

The woman sighed and walked over to him. She tossed Lance a glare over her shoulder. * These boys… *

"Sorry, Ash." Lance's eyes were hard.

Ash tensed. He hadn't wanted to face Lance! Not this soon anyways!

Charlotte shook her head and vanished down the hall.

"I-Is she your girlfriend?" Ash asked, with a heavy heart.

Lance snorted. "She is your sister." He informed Ash icily. "Get out!"

"What?" Ash blinked as Lance slammed the door. That had not gone well at all!

He found Charlotte in the living room, making herself a cup of tea.

He was going to go to his room, but maybe she could explain what was going on? Or was better he didn't know?

But he wanted to know.

He went up to her and tapped her on the shoulder.

Charlotte looked up with a sad smile.

“Aneki? Why is Lance acting this way?” Ash hesitated.

“I don't know, Otouto. You are safer here with him then wherever you were. Why did you leave?”

Charlotte pulled him down so that he was sitting on her lap. "I need to know so that I can fix this."

"He... was just... I told him I loved him... but he didn't say anything. And his eyes were so scary!"

Charlotte looked ready to kill Lance. She almost began to curse but remembered that her brother was in her lap so she didn't. She settled for muttering something about moronic Ice guardians...

“Why, Aneki? Why doesn’t he like me?”

Charlotte sighed. "It's complicated."

"But..."

“Do you think Lance hates you?”

Ash nodded.

"Why?"

“Why didn't he say anything? He was nice to me before... does he only want to be friends? But I think we can't even be friends now!”

Charlotte hugged him tightly, mentally cursing Lance. “He's making this much too difficult.”

"Huh?"

She sighed. "Let me tell you a story."

The Pallet trainer nodded. He liked stories! But the story Charlotte told him was very sad, about a boy who had to die to save the world.

Ash looked down tears in his eyes.

"And the girl he loved didn't even forgive him?" He sniffed.

"She did, eventually." Charlotte admitted. "But only after he lost his life. It was too late by then."

“Why? That means neither of them got to be happy.”

Charlotte nodded.

She hugged him more tightly. “Unfortunately, Lance is in this situation and he wanted to spare you the pain of losing his love, but he fails to see that what he is doing is hurting you…”

“You mean he's going to die? I don't want him to!”

"”But there's nothing you can do about it, Ash.”

Ash got up. "I'm going to tell Lance I love him again."

"You'll only get hurt again." Charlotte shook her head.

"I don't care!"

The Fire Guardian sighed. She just knew that Lance would just hurt him again...

Ash went to find the Dragon Master.

Lance looked up. “Didn't I tell you to leave?”

Ash shook his head, before he walked up to Lance and kissed him hard. “I don't care if we can only be happy for a few days! It's better than living a lifetime without love!”

The man frowned and pushed Ash away violently. Then, after he shoved Ash out of the room, he locked the door.

Ash frowned. He wasn't going to give up!

Lance glared at his door. "It's for his own good."

Ash's Tyranitar broke the door down a second later. "I love you!"

Kairyuu Hyper Beamed the Dragon.

Tyranitar growled, and used Crunch.

Ash's eyes flashed gold for a second. Just then, Dragonite used Surf on the Tyranitar. The rock-type wailed.

"I'm not letting you run away." Ash frowned. "Bind!"

Lance's eyes widened as cuffs appeared around his wrists and ankles, pinning him to the wall. Another ring materialized around his waist.

"Damn it Ash, what are you doing?"

"I'm not letting you run!"

"I'm doing this for your own good!" The Champion protested.

Ash kissed Lance hard. < Love you... > He crooned. < Love you so much... love. > He tucked his head into the crook of Lance's neck. < My Mate. >

Lance fought the bindings, trying to tug him self free. They wouldn't give.

Ash stroked his long hair, then his chest.

Dragonite growled in warning.

"Shh…" Ash watched as Lance's eyes went slightly hazy with warmth. "Love you, my Mate."

Lance was just fighting to keep his resolve now...

Ash sucked on his neck. "Mine?"

Lance’s mouth clamped down around Ash's neck. The boy’s eyes widened. Golden eyes glittered in malice as he dug his sharp fangs into skin. He bit a little harder then he usually did.

Ash whined, starting to bleed. He was savagely hard in seconds.

Lance bit even harder.

The younger trainer gave a muffled groan as he creamed his pants.

< Is this what you want then? > Lance hissed

Ash shook his head. He wanted his head as well as he could.

Lance stopped. < Then get out. >

He wanted his Mate darn it!

The Dragon Master lapped up the oozing blood, almost gently. < You are foolish. This course of action will only bring pain. >

Ash didn't want Lance to isolate himself...

< Why? Is it wrong to want my Mate? >

< You'll find someone else, Ash. It will take less time if you're not hung up over me. >

< No! I want my Mate and no other! > Ash pressed himself against Lance.

< Then are very foolish, Child. > Lance was able to break the bindings. Ash winced, seeing the blood congealing on his wrists.

Lance shoved Ash against the wall and ripped his pants off. Brown eyes just watched him. He growled as he freed himself and thrust into Ash's body.

The child gasped.

Lance pumped him roughly several times, before spending himself. Then, he zipped his pants back up and stalked out.

Ash fell to the floor limply, watching Lance walk away. He almost couldn't stop his tears. Why?

If that display didn't convince Ash, the Dragon Master wasn't sure what would. However, he was sure that this time, he had succeeded.

Charlotte watched Lance walk away. < Why are you choosing to be unhappy? >

He didn't stop or dignify her with an answer. He wrapped himself in a shell of ice and iron, not wanting to feel.

Now, it was over. Their relationship would never recover. And Ash would never want him again.

He ran his fingertips down his chest, feeling the Sword. Soon…

Ash scrubbed himself in the shower, feeling odd.  Lance had, had…he almost couldn't believe it...

Rape…

“Do-do you hate me so much?”

Maybe he should find someone else

He wasn't sure if he'd be able to put the pieces of his broken heart back together. Even so, he didn't want anyone else!

Ash avoided Lance like the plague for the next two weeks, up until Lance apologized, seconds before he called the Sword.

Ash had cried over the loss of his Mate.

"It didn't help at all, Lance." He whispered, stroking his hair. "It didn't help at all! If anything, what you did made it worse! After all... 'It is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all...'"

Golden eyes slowly slid open. < Why... >

< Because I could never love another. > Ash hugged Lance close. < Because I do not want to leave you ever again. >

< I couldn't stand it if you left. > A tear fell from one of Ash's eyes.

Lance leaned upwards and licked it away.

Ash opened his eyes. He sniffled.

The Ice Guardian kissed him, feeling Ash relax. < You deserve better. >

< There is no better. >

< I raped you! >

Ash shook his head. < I don't want another, Lance! I want you! >

< Why? >

< Do I have to have a reason? Love is fickle. > He swallowed. < All I know is I love you, Lance. >

The Dragon Master sighed, and kissed him again. Ash leaned into it.

< Oh Chosen One, you should not choose me, Child. > Lance wound his arms around Ash's waist.

< Who is more worthy then another Guardian? > He asked rhetorically. Ash traced Lance's chest. < Your scars... >

Lance watched Ash. < Do they disgust you? >

Ash shook his head. < You are beautiful, my Mate. >

He gently rubbed Ash's erection through his pants. Lance just couldn't understand! Ash should hate him!

But the boy just gazed up at him adoringly.

Lance sighed. He would never fully understand his little Mate, it seemed.

He slid Ash's clothing down, and lapped at his entrance.

The Thunder Guardian purred. < Yes, my love... I am yours. >

He squirmed his tongue deeper inside, tasting. Ash gave a quiet moan. Lance continued his ministrations. Moments later, Ash could stand it no longer and he cried out, cumming.

Lance smirked. Ash beamed up at him.

< See? Only you can make me feel this way. >

He sighed and shook his head.

Ash looked hopeful.  < Mate me? >

Well, how could he deny such an invitation, freely given? Ash seemed to have forgiven him.

How trusting of the boy. The sincerity warmed his heart.

Without further ado, the Ice Guardian pounced.

Ash squeaked in delight when Lance finally started to move.  He bit Ash's neck again, in the same place as before. He wasn't sure why Lance was being so possessive, but he didn’t mind. He curled a hand around his lover’s cock as he bucked his hips.

There was a low growl coming from Lance's throat.

Ash whimpered as Lance began to ride him hard. Despite his fear, he still couldn't stop orgasming.

Lance's grip tightened.

"Master~!" Ash cried out, gout after gout of fluid running down his shaft. He mewed, exposing his neck in submission.

Lance's grip tightened more, as Ash’s breath caught. Chocolate orbs blinked fuzzily, trying to clear his vision.

Lance smirked. < You are mine, pet. >

The younger Guardian nodded, not bothering to fight it. He eagerly submitted to his Mate. Lance had let his claws out, and was tracing thin lines across his ribs. He stretched like a pampered kitten.

Ash purred as Lance finally came inside of him with one particularly violent thrust, exploding, and filling him with hot seed. Oh Mew, but it was wonderful...

< If you break your promise again, I will hurt you much, much worse. >

The other nodded.

< Until then, I suppose I'll have to take care of you. >

< Forever? > Ash asked.

Lance licked his lips. < Yes. >
