Chapter 6: Payback

“Ashura!” Agatha snapped. “You’re not paying attention!”
“I’m sorry, Master Agatha.” Ash said apologetically, as he again resumed the simple levitation exercise she was having him practice.

Anger quickly flared, but it stayed behind Lance’s shields as Ash continued floating the pebbles.

He was better than this! Lance-chan hadn’t taught him that much yet, but with the cards he was at least four or five levels better than what Agatha was re-teaching him! Still, she kept snapping at him.

            Why?

She must really hate Lance-chan for some reason…

Ash turned his attention back to the rocks and made a mental note to ask the Dragon Master later.

An hour later, he had another lightsaber lesson with Agatha.

Things were becoming clearer and clearer. Oh, he knew very well she wanted him to kill Lance-chan, why else would he only be learning basic skills in everything but lightsaber fighting?

Apparently they didn’t’ know about Lance’s Dragon Blade yet… or if they did, they didn’t know about the cards.

            Good.

He would make sure certain things stayed hidden.

            Maybe Lance-chan would kill Agatha.

That thought made him smile, and Ash pushed it away quickly. He couldn’t let the darkness take him!
            He was shadow after all…

“Pay attention!” Agatha snapped again. “You might have died if this were a real fight!”
Ash looked chastised and nodded, but seethed inwardly.

He couldn’t wait until the charade was over.

Then, he and Lance-chan would be safe together.

It was three days later when she took him to see another Jedi.

“This is Jedi Master Jerome.” Agatha said shortly. “He will train you while I go deal with some other important affairs.”

Ash felt his anger rise again, but kept it steady and hidden.

Jerome turned nearly blind gray eyes on ash. “So this is what you give me to work with?”

“He’s the last one. God knows that Lance was quite effective! You know that as well as I.”

            “Point taken.”

            Agatha left.

“Well, I guess you’re the best I’ve got.” Jerome said. “So, let’s start.”

The training began anew, but Ash still noticed that almost all of it was fighting. He did learn a little healing, in case he was injured, but obviously they did not expect him to be injured.

So that meant they knew how Lance would not willingly attack him.

They were exploiting weakness, so noble of them to win easily.

            Yes…

            He wouldn’t ever kill her.

He didn’t even want to hurt her.

It was time they realized it too.

            “Ash!”

He looked annoyed as Daisy ran after him. “What is it? Who sent you with a message this time?”

Daisy grinned. “Master Agatha said we will be engaged!”

            Ash froze. *WHAT?! *

Daisy quickly glomped onto him, “Isn’t that wonderful?” She gushed.

Ash wasn’t sure whether he wanted to cry, curse, or run. “Who-who-what?”

            “It has to be done.”

Ash stared as Jerome walked out. “You are the last jedi. Therefore, you must be trained, but also, you must pass your talents on.”

He neglected to mention that Drake had been one of the most powerful and thus he wanted to breed force-sensitive, powerful children to bend to his will.

Fortunately for Ash, that was a rather loud thought that his attention was drawn to. * So that’s it… well, in any case, I am not going to sleep with a cheap two-bit slut, nor will I be used as a breeding machine. It’s time to pay. *

The shadow trainer’s lips curved up in a smirk. “I see.”

“Then you know what must be done.” Jerome said, grandly sure of his power and influence.

“Yes.” Ash said, before he drew his Lighting Blade out of midair and leveled it at Jerome. “I know perfectly.”

This was not the response the man had been expecting.

            Daisy screamed.

“Shut up, fool.” Ash snapped, his black cloak flaring into being and dropping over his shoulders, as he activated his shadow powers, the dream realm calmly erasing the strain of the shields that were now unneeded.

            “YOU!”

“Yes, I’m dark too, in your words.” Ash said calmly, blocking the force Jerome had thrown at him with a flick of his fingers. “Pity I’m stronger than you as well…”

A loud cry alerted Ash to Agatha’s presence, and he teleported away.

“You’re the only two left, I’m sure Lance-chan won’t mind if I kill you for her.” Ash purred.

            “How-?”

“Oh, come on, surely you can’t dismiss soul bonds that easily? Oh right, you never saw ours.” Ash said conversationally, as Pika-chan transformed and attacked Agatha. Agatha was rather hard-pressed to hold her own against the semi-feline winged beast.

Pika-chan roared, flaming thunder knocking the once-ghost master, now somehow a Jedi, off her feet.

            Ash grinned. “Now then…”

Jerome tried to block, but found himself frozen, with what? Fear? No, but he could only stare as the strange sword Ash was holding shattered his lightsaber.

There was no pain, but he was sure he died.

            “Done.”

            Lance smiled. “I’m glad.”

“I am too.” Ash said, sitting on the bed next to her, as he smoothed the black silk sheets idly. “I’m very glad.”

“Well, I suppose now we’ll just wait.”

“Wait and fly.” Ash nodded, as he took her hands. “So shall we begin writing the tale?”

Lance chuckled, before she pressed her lips on his, and whispered a yes in his mind.
