Chapter 5: I’m getting tired of battling…

“Flareon, Arcanine, Rapidash, Fire Blast now!”

Ash watched, horrified, as Charlotte’s fire pokemon effectively sent the second floor up in flames, trapping the rockets within a fiery inferno as they headed up to the third floor.

“Gardevoir, use Light Screen to seal off this floor.” Red commanded. Gardevoir nodded and then they proceeded to the third floor.

Ash was feeling sick to his stomach. * All those people and pokemon trapped in that fire… why? *

The two others were already sprinting down the hallways towards the stairs that led to the third floor.

Pikachu looked at Ash sadly. Come on, let’s go. She said. Ash nodded and picked Pikachu up, running after them. * Am I really this cruel and vindictive? * He thought. * No… that can’t be… *

The third floor was waiting for them. One group of six rockets opened fire, while two others threw out a variety of poison pokemon.

“I don’t have time for this.” Red snapped. “Gardevoir, Psychic! Alakazam, use Kinesis to reduce their accuracy!”
“Sandslash, Fissure!” Ash said, trying to help. Two Arbok went flying because of his attack, slamming against the walls.

“Steelix, Screech!” Charlotte said. Steelix let off a screech that froze several of the pokemon, allowing Gardevoir easier access to knock them out. Skarmory popped out and began pecking the Wheezings and Koffings, trying to pop them or cause a self-destruct that would take out a good chunk of the enemy pokemon.

One Wheezing popped, causing an explosion as Ash quickly ducked behind Steelix, along with the other two.  Two Koffings followed his example. When the dust cleared, only a few Grimer and Muk were left.

Red swore as he recalled his Alakazam and Gardevoir, both of which had been KO’d by the chain self-destruct. * Hope I have enough pokemon to last… *

“Skarmory!” Charlotte said, dashing over to her steel pokemon. A good chunk of its body had been removed due to that explosion. It was able to regenerate itself, but until then, was very vulnerable in battle. “You did great, boy. Here.” She sprayed it with Hyper Potion and then recalled it to let it heal.

Another group of rockets charged down the hall, all wearing blue neckerchiefs. Six wooper, three grimer, and… a Mewtwo appeared.

            “WHAT?!” Red asked, shocked.

“Hehehehehe, scared now, aren’t you?” The leader said. “Surrender now and we’ll spare you. A little brainwashing and you’ll make great rocket executives.”

“You’re crazy.” Charlotte said. “Steelix, Iron Tail!”

Two Wooper fell under the assault. The grimers and muks swarmed over the giant snake, but their attacks could not do anything.

“Gyrados, Hyper Beam! Aerodactyl, you too!” Red said, trying to figure out how to defeat a Mewtwo. * Psychic types should have weak defense. *

Ash gasped as he stared at Mewtwo. His long lost memories suddenly rushed back into his head and he gasped in pain. Because what he remembered was that Mewtwo was unbeatable.

“Stop! You guys, you’re just going to waste your pokemon’s energy!” He shouted.

Neither of the two was listening to him, Charlotte had released her Mantine and a few Muks and Grimers had been dispatched by Ice Beam and Supersonic, and now she was attacking the Woopers by giving directions to Red’s Venusaur.

Red himself was commanding the attack on Mewtwo, while the rockets continued to laugh.

“Fool! Listen to the kid, he’s right! There’s no way you can beat mewtwo! Mewtwo, show them your special Spoon of Kinesis move!”

Red’s eyes snapped open as Mewtwo began to create a tornado. * Yes… that’s it! * A smile lit on his face as he pulled out another poke ball. “Come on, Aerodactyl, Gyrados, let’s go!”

Ash stared in disbelief as the three of them were sucked into the tornado. “Red! You idiot! Mewtwo can’t be beaten!”

“Aniki, I hope you know what you’re doing…’ Charlotte said as Venusaur glared at the tornado. Her eyes were an angry red as she used Razor Leaf to cut up the last of the water type opposition.

“Look, you may defeat our weaker pokemon, but you can’t beat mewtwo.” The rockets said. “Now why don’t you surrender?”

“For the last time, no.” Charlotte snapped. “Mantine, attack the trainers. Take Down!” The rockets went flying out through the wall as the enraged flying/water type listened to his mistress’s commands.

Ash grimaced as he closed his eyes.

Suddenly, there was an explosion. When it cleared, Red and his Aerodactyl were standing proudly atop a fainted Mewtwo.

“NO WAY!” Said the lead rocket that had just run in followed by three more rockets after hearing the wall collapse.

“Yes way!” Red cheered, going OOC. “I just remembered that I fought Mewtwo before! Never mind that it was a different mewtwo, but the same strategy worked.” He then snapped back to normality.

Mewtwo vanished because it was no longer important to the plot.

            Ash stared. “Well… let’s go!”

“WAIT!” Shouted the leader rocket. “Houndoom, Houndours, go!”

And voila, out popped a houndoom and six houndours.

“They’re pack animals.’ Red said. “So attack them separately.”

“Right!” Ash said, releasing Lapras and Wartortle as the other rockets released Zubats and Grimers, which Charlotte and Red went after.

            “Lapras, Wartortle, Hydro Pump!”

Houndoom went down, letting out a keen, earsplitting cry. The houndours paused in their attack, unsure. Ash took advantage of this as Wartortle smashed into one with Spin Tackle, and Lapras’s Surf attack downed two more. However, a Grimer took notice of this and attempted to poison the two pokemon. Wartortle choked as toxic sludge slapped it in the face, while Lapras bravely held off the swarming zubats with Ice Beam.

“Guess it’s impossible to fight separately.” Charlotte said. “Mantine! Surf!”

Well, there went two more Houndour, leaving one to defend. It took down the hallway, barking frantically.

“Pika!” Red said. Pika nodded and shot after the Houndour, before bringing it down with a well-aimed Thunderbolt.

“Muk, Toxic!” Ash directed, releasing his own poison type. “On the trainers!”

The trainers gasped, and promptly attempted to run. However, they were blocked. They could not leave.

Red smirked as his Snorlax stared daggers at them, blocking the exit with its large bulk. “Great job, Snorlax.”

“Rapidash, give ‘em a taste of your Smash kick!” Charlotte said, as the Grimers succumbed to their superior might. “Let’s go!”

And up they ran to the fourth floor…

Two squadrons of rockets followed…
