Chapter 1

< Chosen. It is time. >

Lance nodded, as she took the faintly glowing silver mirror from Lugia. < I understand. >

< Good. The ‘King’s Crystal’ must be protected, but on the other hand, it cannot stay here. You are the only one I entrust with this. >

            < Lugia-san… >

< Do not worry. In two years it breaks and you are set free. >

            < I know. >

Lance smiled cynically as the mirror merged with her, turning her blonde hair white and lightening her blue eyes to amethyst. Her clothes shifted into a white, long-sleeved shirt and pants, replacing the black she had worn. Height dropped, she’d be about three inches shorter than Ash.

            < Two years… >

< You may join the other Chosen, but anything else would be dangerous. Do not reveal this secret to anyone! >

            < Hai, Lugia-san. >

< Be blessed in all your endeavors. > The legendary said fondly, before his Chosen vanished.

< Oh, and beware of Missingno. >

< I’ll kill her before she kills me, Lugia. Don’t worry. >

After all, the cold steel reminded her daily.

Misty watched Ash and Pikachu playing in the water as she lounged on a towel in her bright red bikini.

Brock was busy chasing a horde of stampeding girls in swimsuits, who were all trying to get away from him with equal fervor.

            Something in her backpack beeped.

“Hello?” Misty asked, opening her pager. “Who is this?”

“Agent Waterflower. We have received reports of the ‘King’s Crystal’ in your area. Supposedly, it’s a girl about your age who is holding it.”

            “Hai.”

“You are to befriend her and retrieve the crystal. We trust your judgment on this.”

Misty nodded. “What does she look like?”

“Unfortunately, all we really know is that she has white hair.”

“That’s fairly rare, all right. Thank you.”

            “Courtney out.”

The Team Aqua agent hung up and frowned. She had only needed to give reports on Team Rocket’s behavior so far, but now…

How to find the King’s Crystal without arousing suspicion? Actually, if she invited the girl to come with Ash – or got him to do it, or even Brock – then journeying together, things could be lost…

Satisfied with her plan of attack, Misty bought herself an ice cream and sat down to watch for said girl.

Lance checked her illusions before walking into the plateau. “I’m back!”

            Lorelei waved.

Agatha didn’t look up. “Oh. You’re home.”

Lance nodded. “I’ll be leaving soon…”

“No problem. Nobody’s gotten past me yet.” Lorelei said confidently. Lance grinned at her cousin, then went to pack.

Soon, she set off for Pallet Town.

She found Ash, and to her anger, Misty with him. * That girl… if she messes up my plans again… *

She smiled as she waved to Ash.

            “Hi!”
“Hi. You must be the new Orange League Champion, Ash Ketchum!”

Ash blushed. “Um, yes, that’s me.”

            “How cool!”

            “So, what’s your name?”

“I’m Crystal, and I’m so glad I met you!” Lance said, before she hugged Ash tightly.

Ash blushed brightly while Pikachu snickered.

Win one championship and you’re suddenly a ladies man.

            “Pikachu!”

Misty narrowed her eyes as she took a miniature scanner out of her backpack. * Is that the King’s Crystal? *

After some scanning, well, Misty was scanning, while Ash tried not to blush too much while Crystal clung to him.

They wound up eating chocolate ice cream together, with Crystal clinging onto Ash tightly.

Well, so she was a little bit jealous, Misty decided, but she didn’t really love Ash. She just wanted to control him.

            Either way…

If Crystal didn’t have the King’s Crystal, she must have been near it recently, because the scanner showed some streaks of pink.

            Excellent!

“Hi, I’m Misty.” Misty introduced herself as she went over.

            “Hi!” Crystal chirped.

“So, do you want to travel with us? I’m sure Ash wouldn’t mind.” Misty teased.

            Ash blushed farther.

“I’d love to.” Crystal said. “After all, maybe Ash can teach me how to be a better trainer?”

Ash quailed before the teary puppy dog eyes and nodded mutely.

            “Yay! I’m so happy!”

Misty snickered as Ash went down on the sand again as Crystal tackle/hugged him.

Lance grinned inwardly to herself. * This role might be pretty fun to play… let’s give it a try! * It couldn’t be worse than her other plays.

Besides, she had plenty of time to win Ash’s heart. She was already on the way there by virtue of her sheer genki-cuteness.
