Chapter 5

            Giovanni looked in shocked disbelief.

Lance was calmly humming, despite the electrodes attached to his arms and chest, while his pokemon watched anxiously.

“Almost done.” The scientist said cheerfully.

After another few minutes, all devices were removed. Lance put his top back on and walked out.

            “Well?” Giovanni asked.

Wordlessly, the scientist handed over the fact sheets.

Attack – 35

Defense – 30

Speed – 40

Special Attack– 45

Special Defense – 45

HP – 40

Magic – 120

Empathy – 120

Element Type: Dark, Dragon, shows hints of psychic and ghost

            “That’s it?”

“Well, there’s more, it’s all in that thick file over there. I just gave you the summary.”

Attack and Defense were not particularly high, but… even with the Viridian Power, Magic and Empathy should only be around thirty or forty…

“Incredible.” Giovanni said, shaking his head. It really was superior breeding. Still…

That was different from what he had expected.

They weren’t even a Dratini’s base total, at least not the normal stats (300).

“I could increase attack and defense but I don’t need them that much, neither do you.” Lance said, as he watched the two Dratini spar against each other.

            They nodded.

“But I’ll work on them later, I’m not at full power or even close yet.” He grinned. “It doesn’t matter.”

Hakuryuu yawned. You still have to find Ptera and the last key…

            “That’s true.”

But he would work on it.

He had all the time in the world.

            “Um…”

A knocking sounded on his door. Lance got up and looked outside.

A girl with buttery yellow hair and crystal blue eyes was waiting. “I-I have a message.”

Lance took the letter, read it quickly, and then shrugged. “Thank you, you may leave now.”

            Why that arrogant git!

She didn’t believe he was related to Giovanni at all!
            Tamara stamped her foot angrily.

“What else do you want?” Lance asked, as he attempted to close his door. It didn’t quite work out.

“Go! Electrode!” Screw orders, she would just take down the arrogant brat now! If the rumors were true, he wouldn’t be hurt.

Electrode immediately sent swift stars shooting each way.

Lance began to smile, his fangs showing. * Excellent. Look, another one to take down before she bursts into bloom. *

Hands struck out farther than she could see, and then an immobilized Electrode dropped down.

Lance smiled. * So the pressure points did work. *

            “Electrode! What did you do?!”

“It’ll wear off in a few hours.” Lance said nonchalantly. “Now, then.” He pushed her out of the way and then locked his door.

Tamara stared in shock after him.

Approximately ten minutes later, a loud screeching noise was heard. Lance sighed. * Too easy… *

He opened the door with one swift movement, and then kicked Tamara between the legs. Even if she was a girl, that still hurt.

            “Leave me _alone_.”

Maybe Team Rocket wouldn’t be so relaxing after all… at least not while all these mostly talent-less upstarts were here.

But it would be all right.

After all, if succession ruled, he would take over from Giovanni, and then he would purge Team Rocket of all its useless members…

            And everything would be fine.

But first, he would take advantage of their resources, and learn and train and kill while he had a protective buffer. Fin.

Timeline: 2.5 years later…

            Dragonite. 2 Dragonair. Aerodactyl. Gyarados.

The twelve-year old trainer watched impassively as the Vermillion Power Plant exploded.

“Done.” He said, before turning off his cell phone. “Let’s go back home.”

            The dragons followed him.

They would follow him down whatever path called. That was their life.

Kairyuu. Hakuryuu. Miniryuu. Ptera. He had the four keys now. He could destroy the clan if he wanted to.

            Yes…

But really, let them stew in their pitiful inadequacy for a while longer… that would work too.

Ah yes… it was _fun_ to have power.

The dragons followed him as blue light covered their features and teleport took them home.
