Chapter 3

He’d never thought of having to kill before, that was only a vague notion, but now, things were at an impasse.

It was kill or be killed.

Not pokemon, so he didn’t have to worry about that…

He watched as his Eevee team decimated a village. Several survivors made it out. Lance stood behind him, hands on his shoulders.

            “Your turn.”

He was sweating underneath the mask he wore, but he nodded.

In an instant, the staff in his hands shifted, became a pair of daggers, and he attacked. Ignored the blood, the screams, just blocked everything else. It had to be done. Had to.

            He had to learn.

Even then he wasn’t cold enough, but he was trying.

Drove the dagger in his right hand through a torso, kicked another body away, flipped in midair, jab…

A few minutes later it was blessedly over.

            He was shaking.

“Shh… I know it’s hard, but it has to be done.” Lance said, holding him as he tried not to cry afterwards.

            He nodded.

He still cried though, but only a little.

“It gets easier,” Lance promised, and it was true, but still…

            Well, he would adapt.

That was what water was made for.

He _would_ figure out what to do…

“Lance? You still love me, right?”

“I should be the one asking that question.”

            “But you didn’t hurt me…”

            “Are you sure?”

            ‘Hai!”

“Very well then.” Lance said, brushing Ash’s lips gently with his own. * I love you so much, precious little one. And I’m sorry I had to break your innocence, but it was the only way… *

            The only way left…

His hands slid downwards and Ash’s mouth opened in a silent ‘O’, but he did not struggle.

Why fight what fate had preordained?

            Time passed.

            “Misty!”

            “What is it, Zachary dear?”

“You know how Lance and Ash vanished?”

“So what? I bet they were too busing fucking each other all the time to get anything done.”

“I know, but I just felt his presence!”

            “Who?”

            “Ash!”

“Excellent… Lance was always a player anyways. We’ll get Ash to help us obtain the Black Orb…”

What she didn’t know didn’t hurt her… much.

            “Ash, you’re back!”

Zachary stepped back a little, scared. Ash limped inside, one arm wrapped in bloody bandages.

“What happened?” Misty asked in her patented, guaranteed to win loyalty, false affection tone.

            Ash burst into tears.

“Oh dear.” Zachary said, worried. “Ash?”

“Lance… he… he…” Ash didn’t get much out, before he began crying again. Misty resisted the urge to smack him and instead pasted a smile on.

“Why don’t you go take a warm bath? It’ll make you feel better?”

            “O-okay…”

            “So, what was it?”

“Easy enough to tell.” Misty snickered. “Lance always was too possessive for his own good.”

            “What?”

“Sex. Coerced sex. Well, it basically all adds up to the same thing.”

            “That’s horrible!”

“Yes, bad it is, but… ah, this is just the break we need.”

            “Huh?”

“Ash will definitely be on our side now.” Misty said. “Now, I wonder how badly he’s been hurt…”

Zachary did a quick scan using his powers. “The arm’s gashed, his leg’s twisted, and, well, the rest of him isn’t in much better condition.”

            “I knew it.”

“So do you think he’ll work with us now?”

“Think? It’s guaranteed! We just have to win his affections.”

            “Oh.”

            “But it’ll be so easy…”

They waited while Ash recuperated and played his friends, and sure enough, he fell straight into their net.

            It was perfect.

“Will you help us find the Black Orb?”

            Ash nodded.

            “That’s a good boy…” Misty crooned.

There was no life at all in his eyes.

Lance _had_ broken him, excellent! She should thank him for doing it for her.

Well, Ash didn’t need to know.

She waited for him to recover, took a few more days, and then, they went to find the demon representative.

            Everything was going to plan.

She’d steal the power herself, wipe out the other guardians, and earth would be hers… Perfect!
