Ash was bored! He'd been champion for all of three months and already he was wondering how Lance and the others did it! He had to deal with a new leaning tower of paperwork every day! He needed a break...

Lance walked in through the door. "I have another form for you, Champion."

Ash wanted to hit his head on the desk, but he held his hand out for the form. And he wasn't even halfway through the paperwork...

He read through the form. It was a proposal to skin baby dragons for their skin and meat for food. Ash scrawled 'Rejected' across the paper.  He could hardly wait until work was over. At least then, well, something happened, but he couldn't really remember

"Did you even read the form, Lance?" Ash asked handing it back to the Dragon Master.

"Of course." Lance said quietly. "But the decision is not mine."

Ash sat back and stared at the still huge pile of paperwork to be done. He had tears in his eyes.

"How do you do it Lance?" He asked, looking up at the older trainer.

"I cope." Lance said. "Eventually, it stops hurting. Do you need help?"

"Yes, please."

With Lance's help, Ash moved through the paperwork relatively quickly. After he was done, the Dragon Master excused himself and Ash went to dress up. Ash sighed in relief. Maybe he should get Lance to help him more often?

He checked himself over. He was going to accompany his mom to the circus that was staying in Pallet at the moment.

Well, he liked nice enough! With that, he and Charizard flew home.

His mother smiled. "You look nice tonight Ash." She said as he landed.

"Thanks, mom." Ash hugged her, and then they walked to the circus. Ash was unpleasantly surprised to see Melvin the Magician there, but at least his tricks were a lot better than the pathetic juggling he'd had.

He glared. He wanted to sic Charizard on the creep...

Suddenly, Ash didn't want to be here anymore! ...But he couldn't just leave his mother! And he couldn't use the excuse that he had work to do, he'd finished it all!

The performance finally ended.

Ash noticed a purple-haired boy who looked vaguely familiar go over to talk to Melvin afterwards, but paid it no mind. He just went straight home.

"Thank you for coming with me tonight Ash." His mother smiled. "Going back to the Plateau or are you going to stay here tonight?"

"Um, I guess I can stay here tonight."

"But you have to leave early tomorrow morning, right?"

            Ash nodded.

His mom hugged him. "Don't worry, Ash. I'll make your favorite mixed pizza tonight. Just make sure to set your alarm tomorrow morning." She reminded him.

“Of course!” Ash said, greatly cheered by the idea of pizza.

Melvin the Magician was surprised when a boy walked into his tent after the circus had ended. “You are…?”

“Paul.” The boy introduced himself. “I’ve heard that you once worked as a hypnotist.”

“Yes, well, that part of my past is behind me.”

Paul slapped a handful of pokeyen bills down on the desk. Melvin’s eyes widened.

“I want you to ‘convince’ Ash Ketchum to have sex with me.”

“That would be rape!”

“If you don’t, I’ll tell the public what really happened five years ago and how you almost destroyed the entire wild Exeggutor population. This way, you’ll get paid well and no one will find out.”

Melvin swallowed, before he nodded.

Paul smirked. He knew that the drug cocktails he had been using on the trainer so far were failing, so it was time to up the ante.

Ash would be his, for his entire life, the Shinou trainer smirked. He would make sure of it.

A few weeks passed. Ash was starting to feel strange. He didn't have memories of what happened after he left work every day! And he found blood on his pants several times. What was going on?

He shook his head. What in the world...?

Then one night he 'woke up' abruptly to find himself in a dingy hotel room with a boy pounding into him! Ash screamed.

Paul slapped him.

He began to fight Paul, struggling to push him off. He didn't like Paul at all! He loved someone else!

Ash finally managed to push Paul away and run out. He released Alakazam and teleported back to the Plateau.

* H-How... did this happen? * He was trembling so much he fell to his knees.

Ash finally made it into the shower and began scrubbing himself. He felt so dirty... How long had this been going on for? He didn't want to think about it!

He eventually stumbled out of the shower and put on his Pichu-print pajamas, climbing into bed.

He just wanted to die…

But of course, the next morning he had to go to work....

Ash really wanted to hide from the world. Now it would be impossible for him to even try to touch the one he loved without seeing Paul! He-he had hoped... to give himself to that special person, but now he couldn't even give himself, he didn't belong to himself anymore...

Ash buried his face in his hands and sobbed.

Lance paused in front of his door, hearing muffled sobs coming from inside. Finally, he left the sandwiches he had made in front of it, not wanting to bother Ash.

He didn't come out for weeks. All the Elite could hear faint crying when they passed his door.

Lance finally used his Master Passkey to unlock Ash's door. At least he knew Ash was still eating, since he left food ever morning and evening, but... The boy looked terrible! He was wrapped in a nest of messy blankets and there were huge dark circles around his eyes.

"Ash?" Lance asked.

The boy just sat there sobbing. He didn't seem to notice Lance was there! He seemed to be clutching something...

"Ash..." Lance repeated in a louder tone. He put a hand on the boy's arm.

Ash stiffened so much Lance almost thought Ash had used Harden. He had stopped all movement, even his breathing.

"Ash, it's me..."

"Don’t touch me!" Ash cried. He didn't want to face Lance!

Lance blinked. He had not expected that sort of a reaction.

"Are you ok?" He asked pulling Ash into a hug, or he tried to...

Ash just pulled away. "I said not to touch me!" He practically snarled. "I want you to leave!"

Lance was stunned. “Why? I only want to help you!”

“I don't need help! I especially don't need your help!” Ash growled.  He pulled out a poke ball.

Lance was confused. Ash almost always ran to him for help. So why was this different? He was obviously in pain.

Maybe it was time for Fire to deal with her little brother...

"Fine, I'll leave. But you are going to have to let someone help you..."

Ash just sulked.

He couldn’t believe that this had happened! Paul…

Why had the bastard done this?

Was he so unlovable that he was only worthy of rape?

Ash buried his face in his hands and sniffled. Why…

Did he not deserve love? It hurt so much!

Lance…

I believe (hope) that the title of this story is fragile trust/faith. My Latin skills are … pretty non-existent, so…

I hate Paul. I also hate how Melvin the Magician got away with hypnotizing Ash and making him a slave scot-free. Good grief!

He should have gone to jail…
