Chapter 9

            A lie?

Was it all a lie then?

Did she really not care about me at all? Why did she suddenly reveal herself? I already trusted her for so long?

Or did she just want to laugh at my pain?

But it doesn’t make any sense… why didn’t she just kill me or something?

            It would have hurt less…

            “Catelyn….”

Catelyn. Lance. There’s an anagram in those names. How come I never noticed?

Well, I never had any reason to notice, did I?

Why did she do this though? I thought we were friends… I might have even been in love with you…

            Now, I don’t feel anything.

            I’m just a shell.

Damn it Catelyn, why did you leave?

            Why did you betray me?

Why did you earn my friendship in the first place? I want some answers, and I’ll get them even if I have to hunt you to the end of the world! I swear it! Lance… Catelyn… whoever you really are… I swear I will find you again…

The darkness is mine to wield as I see fit…

She felt the blades come to life, felt darkness gesture in her eyes and she smiled. Of course, it was perfect…

            “Let the games begin.”

The dragons were healed, they had two years to recover and any lasting injuries well, wasn’t that hat the Viridian Power was for? She smiled as she spun the wheel of fate and watched it land on death.

            “So it begins.”

There was opposition. When is there not opposition to a hostile takeover? Still, she had never expected it from this quarter.

“You will die if you fight me. Look at you. You’re too weak to do much.”

A shy smile came in response. “Be as it may… I cannot do nothing and watch.”

“Oh? And why not? You’ve had no problem doing just that for eons.”

“Because this time, there is more at stake.”

“Whatever do you mean? Did Honou pull off some other magnificent display of skewed testing?”

“No, but I need you to listen to me. Please don’t do this.”

“Gomen nasai, but I can’t promise you anything…”

            “I never expected a promise.”

“You’re leaving me no choice then. Get out of the way.”

            “Heaven’s Fury!”

Shield from the attack, watched as the first one fell, then the others like dominoes. Heh. Take out the leader and the rest flee.

            Pitiful cowards.

“Why did you try to stop me?”

“You will understand… in time… and I was too weak to do much, but please, don’t kill him… don’t kill my little brother…”

“You should be more concerned about your own life.”

            Now shut up.

Dragons are wonderful creatures. They’re even better if they’re not weak to ice pokemon wouldn’t you agree?

            “What have you done?”

“I filled their veins with her fire blood of course, a drop was enough to seal the change. Now they won’t have to be afraid any longer…”

            “Smart of you.”

            “Why are you so disappointed?”

            “I’m not, just surprised.”

“Lorelei, you’re not actually jealous of a dead woman are you?”
“No, dear cousin, although I wish you didn’t have this edge over us. But who am I to argue against fate?”

“Then may I count on your support?”

            “Cinnabar is mine.”

            “Feel free…”

            Ice joins Dragon…

“So. Are you willing to leave Lavender and Saffron and Ecruteak alone in this war of yours?”

“Have I ever given you reason to doubt my word in the past?”

            “Never.”

            “Then…”

            “We accept, Dragon Master…”

And it might have sounded like one voice, had it not come from five different minds…

Dark, Ghost, Psychic… where does one end and the next begin?

            “Let’s make a deal, Giovanni.”

“Oh? You’re joining forces with Team Rocket?”

“Not actually… but tell me. If I left you Kanto, would you be happy?”

            “What’s it to you?”

“Perhaps I don’t want to destroy the world… but if I destroy humanity you won’t have anyone to rule over, you said so yourself, so… there’s nothing else to do…”

            “Ah? So you’re compromising?”

            “In a way.”

            “Excellent.”

“So… let’s do it.” Lance smiled mysteriously and held out his hand.

            Giovanni took it.

A minute later, his screams echoed through the air. Pain…. So much pain…!

            The Dragon Master smirked.

Did you really think you’d win?

            Did you?

She watched as the blades faded back into nothingness and laughed as the Rockets came up running, panic in their eyes.

And the dragons roared and tore the place to flames…
