Pairing: Championshipping (Ash x Lance)

Chapter 5

The next morning, Ash woke up satiated, found Lance preening him again, struggled feebly but didn’t really have the heart to, and let the bird woo him again.

He really should be looking for the rest of his pokemon.

Then again, there was nothing he could do until Bill fixed his machine, so…

Why not spend the days pleasantly?

You’re such an adorable child… Lance whispered, as Ash blushed, not really understanding, but guessing…

“Lance… what happens when you change back?” He asked, using a fine brush to groom the bird. It had been approximately three weeks since he’d come to the Plateau and he hadn’t really left. During the day, he would train his pokemon in the gardens and talk a little to Lorelei and Agatha – when they were free, which was hardly ever… and he’d browse the library they had, which was fun too, and eat of course.

At night, he’d curl up with Lance and pet him and… get petted but it didn’t hurt or anything and he liked it.

It wasn’t as if Ash had actually been through the mandatory human growth and development classes they force people into in the real world, so!

            Who could blame him?

Fortunately – or unfortunately, in another two weeks the machine had been fixed, so Brock and Misty were back to normal – or as normal as they could be… because…

Misty had been Psyduck so long that unfortunately, the traits of said pokemon had carried over and she had been shipped off to a mental ward for the safety of all concerned.

Brock’s was more beneficial – he had split from his Geodude and Onix – no one had noticed Onix’s DNA underneath Geodude’s, but that wasn’t a problem – now his skin was so hard that it would take a drill to break it. That might be useful though – it made him quite immune to most pokemon attacks except for water and ice and grass…

Ash managed to sneak Lance in after Lance put Bill to sleep with Hypnosis. Then, he locked the Champion inside the Teleporter and ran the Cell Separation Program.

A few minutes later, the door opened.

Ash caught Lance as he blinked dizzily, and saw his Noctowl, Pikachu, Bayleef, Brock’s Vulpix, and Misty’s Poliwhirl there.

So that’s where they had gone!

“Are you all right, Lance?” He asked the Champion worriedly.

            “I assume so.”

            “Is there any pain anywhere?”

The Champion shrugged. “Not really, I suppose. Being a bird was… odd, but it was certainly better than doing mountains of paperwork and fighting trainers with no talent…”

            Ash blinked.

Lance waited for comprehension to dawn. Surely the boy wasn’t that slow? Perhaps he ought to combine with an Alakazam…

            That might help.

“You remember what happened?” Ash squeaked.

            “Not precisely, but enough.”

Ash began to turn lobster red. “Oh no…” * Now he’s going to kill me or take away my trainer license or-! *

Lance pulled him into a kiss, cutting off his oxygen supply and therefore his panicked attempts at escape as well. “Do I sound angry?”

            “Eep!”

“I just kissed you, you know.”

“Mmhmm…” Color began to creep up his neck and cheeks “So… you’re not angry with me?”

“Dear Lugia, no! Although I suspect Father – well, perhaps he’s calmed down now... I wasn’t a pokémon for a long duration of time… ”

“Wait, Lance? I do have a question.”

“Ask. Tis my choice to answer or no though.”

            “Is your father a pokémon?”

            Lance nodded.

“So humans can breed with pokemon?” Ash pressed.

            “Occasionally…”

            “Oh.”

“Why?” Lance’s eyes began to glitter with… something. “You didn’t get me pregnant, if that’s what you’re asking.”

Ash turned crash pink and fell over.

“Really, your naiveté never ceases to amaze me. Considering what’s gone on between us, one would think that…”

Ash colored some more and continued to look down.

Lance yawned. Well, work was work… and what more did he want to do? Now that he wasn’t a bird anymore, he’d better get back to ‘business’.

            Investigating pokemon abuse.

It was a cover for ‘secretly destabilizing and eliminating all teams, no matter how harmless they may appear.’ It worked quite well.

He just had to pull the rug out from underneath them and they were all ready to fall… perfect! Then he could get a break.

Guardians work hard and then receive a few years of playtime. It’s always like that… except when you blend work and pleasure…

            “Lance?”

“What is it?” Lance had gone to his computer while Ash was still kind of hyperventilating and was now working on a proposal for wetlands management.

Whatever happened, he did not want Giovanni in control of it. Lugia knows what would happen to the pokemon there….

He didn’t trust team rocket much, even if Giovanni had been his father – or so it seemed – foster father, several times around.

            No matter…

Sometimes, one life to another has no connection whatsoever; except the feeling that we belong together…

            “How old are you?”

“You’re concerned about my age now?”

“Um… you’re not that old, right?”

“I’m twenty – well, almost twenty. That enough information for you?”

“Oh good.” Ash sounded relieved. “I didn’t think you were thirty or forty, but I had to make sure…”

            Lance sweatdropped.

“So… eh… um… will you still sleep with me?”

Lance sweatdropped again. * Children and their priorities… * “Yes, but we’ll have to keep it a secret.”

            “I don’t mind!”

“Good.” Lance closed the document and then pounced. Ash eeped, but didn’t try to escape. After all, nothing had really changed…

            Did he love Lance?

Right now, his brain said that it didn’t matter…

Yes. Red is only about 4’5 well, 4’9 at the most according to my calculations in the manga. Ash isn’t tall either. And Lance was only a head taller than Ash, so….
