Chapter 3

“I see you’re scared.” Robert said, misinterpreting Ash’s silence. “Go! Moltres!”

A fiery-laced bird appeared, flames shining.

< This one’s easy. > Lance said, flying up.

“Hm. So your human-type was real too. Big deal. Moltres, Fire Blast!” A giant five-pointed Chinese letter shot out of Moltres’s mouth, heading for the angel. Lance smirked, as he used Reflect, letting the flames shoot off, and then used Rain Dance.

The rain began putting some of the flames out.

            “Moltres, use Sunny Day!”

Lance did not wait, he quickly charged up Thunder and launched it at the bird. The slightly wet bird did indeed conduct electricity, and that was one down.

However, to Ash’s surprised, Moltres simply disintegrated into a pile of ashes. Robert was as surprised, but quickly regained his composure.

“Fine, type to type then! Zapdos, go!”

Lance cried out as Thunder hit, but he had enough HP to stall, so he used Mirror Coat… Zapdos was very surprised to be hit by his own attack, and then Lance shot off Ice Beam, freezing him solid.

            Zapdos also vanished.

The same fate befell Articuno, who vanished in a flash of fire.

Robert was starting to get nervous. “What the hell is that?”

            < ‘That’? > Lance mused.

            < Oh, we’ll show him…>

Ash did not answer as Robert released Lugia.

However, to his extreme shock, Lugia refused to attack and used Self-Destruct.

            “What?”

< Even his captured angels don’t like him… he created these, and they can’t rebel because they were changed before activated as angels, but… >

            Ash grinned. < Ah… >

Honou and Serebii did the same.

Normally, it was not possible, but they had been very well programmed, perhaps too well, because self-destruct had been included in their range of attacks.

            Was it an oversight?

            He didn’t think so.

Lance flew back to him protectively. Ash faced Robert calmly. “Well?”

Robert looked dead, or pretty darn close to it. Maybe he had suffered a heart attack…

“What do we do now, Lance?” Ash asked, staring at the remains. * I can’t believe it… *

            “Deus, can you kiss me?”

Ash blinked, but nodded. Lance stood up slightly straighter and clasped his hands together.

            “Special ability… Restoration Rain…”

As Ash watched, the destruction was washed away, but so was all evidence of humankind.

It was beautiful and verdant and lush, but... empty.

            “Lance?”

His angel faced him. “I don’t think there’s anything else we can do, Master Ash.”

“It’s all right. You did your best.” Ash smiled.

“It’s not over yet!” Robert yelled, getting to his feet. Lance tensed and flicked his wrists, letting blades appear in hand as he got ready to attack.

“I saved the best for last! Missingno, use Frameshift!”

Lance held Ash protectively as the attack washed over them.

When it cleared, they were… elsewhere. That was a good term.

Using a quick check, Ash had all his pokemon… that was good. Lance hid his wings and looked around.

            It looked like an island…

All of a sudden, something darted out of a bush. It was…

            “A rattata?”

“Hold on.” Lance held out a hand to stop Ash. “That’s no angel… no cords, see?”

            “So it’s _real_?”

“I believe we’ve experienced what is known as dimension-hopping.”

            “Oh…”

“But don’t worry. I think its safe.”

Ash nodded as they walked on.

Soon, he was very surprised to run in a boy who looked a lot like him. The boy had a Pikachu.

“I’m Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town and I challenge you to a pokemon battle!”

The Pikachu did not look happy though… considering that this world’s Ash was dragging him along with a rope.

A very thick rope… and the boy wore rubber gloves.

“Can you even control that Pikachu?” Satoshi asked.

< Lance, just call me Satoshi, hai? It’s too confusing if I have the same name as my double. >

            < Hai, Deus. >

            Ash glared. “Oh yeah?”

“Let’s play with him a little bit then.” Lance said.

< You have to hide your powers. If pokemon are real, than they don’t have angels, and… >

            < I understand. >

            “Pikachu, use Thundershock!”

Pikachu did... just not on his opponent.

The Sandshrew Satoshi had picked yawned and curled up in a little ball, deciding to sleep.

Ash yelped as the Pikachu chased him off. “Ow! Ow! Ow!”

“… Am I really that pathetic?”

“No, I don’t think so, Deus. Plus you’re more handsome…”

Satoshi had dark green eyes but black hair.

He grinned. “Hai, Lance. Well…now we just figure out how to get home. Maybe if we find a Missingno here…”

Lance nodded. “Sounds good to me.”
