Chapter 2

(Lance’s POV)

I don’t care about them at all.

You know, I probably should, but I don’t.

            We aren’t the same.

I have wings, forged by dragon’s ice and dragon’s fire, and I fly by my own power with the dragons by my side.

Why should I care about them?

Most are worthless; those who are not are rare.

            We brought life.

            They gave death.

Is that fair? Of course it isn’t fair. That’s why we came and took them home. Is that too hard to understand?

They’re putting us on what they call ‘trial’ now. Idiots.

            I don’t care.

Even now, the portal stays open, taking the others home, and nothing they do will ever stop it. They cannot stop fate once the clock has struck. Time is ticking downwards, and they are only wasting time…

            Idiots.

            Just try and kill me.

I’m not the Prince of the Dragons just for show…

(Clair’s POV)

I have had it with this place!

Coming here was a bad idea. Not dangerous, just… annoying! Very annoying!

            Sigh.

Well, while Charmander is busy finishing up with those ‘handcuffs’, I might as well make my defense!

He’s telling me to talk. Oh joy.

“No, your Honor, I have no moral qualms about taking the pokemon back home.” There, that should satisfy him. No?

Oh, how funny! He’s turning redder and now he’s turning blue!

            Blue?

Oh, about time you showed up, Kingdra. But let’s go home.

I hate it here. It’s so ugly.

They had a nice world but now they’ve broken it, so they don’t deserve the pokemon. That’s why we are taking them home.

Is it so hard to understand?

Humph. Vaunted intellect indeed! What a lie that was.

Well, I’m glad to go home.

At least they didn’t see my tail. No, they’re too blind to see it.

I think I know why aniki hates them.

            They’re so stupid…

(Lance’s POV)

That sister of mine can be quite a handful, but I love her just the same. That’s why I’m here protecting her.

Since she’s revealed her pokemon, I might as well mine… and the shock on their faces is priceless. Lovely.

            “Hakuryuu, let’s fly.”

And we fly, and the things that fly after us just fly off the shield we have.

            They’re so stupid.

I want to go home too.

There’s nothing worth saving on this planet.

Oh, so now they resort to weapons. But these will destroy just about everything, not just us.

            Another instance of futile sacrifices…

            See?

You can’t pierce my Dragon’s Shield so easily. Have you learned your lesson now? No?

            You really are stupid.

Yuck! Now I’ve got blood on my armor and I hate that. I’ll have to clean it when I go home…

Stupid little mortals! Come on Claire, let’s go.

            It’s time to fly home.

            Thank goodness!

(Ash’s POV)

I know I should be scared, but I’m not.

It’s strangely beautiful, the pokemon vanishing into that tunnel of silver light. But it seems that Pidgeot will stay here with me.

            I’m glad… I’ll be all right.

            Why wouldn’t I be?

            It’s all right.

I’m just glad I am worthy to hold the pokemon still.

            I won’t be greedy.

            I promise.

            I’ll try.

(Lance’s POV)

            Finally.

            I can’t wait to leave.

Claire walks through first, easily enough, and I follow, while the lights close behind us.

            It’s done.

            Everything will be just fine…

            And I’m flying.

(Clair’s POV)

I’m still glad we went there, to pick them all up. Those poor pokemon!

Well, don’t worry, dears, it’s all over now.

            Sleep well, little ones.

            Sleep well.

(Unknown POV)

            It is finished.

Strange, why hope keeps coming back. I mean; this is no way to live. Why keep giving them chances? I don’t know.

But I shall wait and see another time.
