Chapter 4

            gI donft understand.h Red said.

Lance blinked fuzzily at him, then turned his attention back to the glass of wine in his hand. Red snatched the crystal wineglass away and tossed it to the floor in a fit of rage, shattering the glass and sending wine splashing onto the carpet. It looked rather like blood, especially since Lance had very red carpet. gWhy wonft you agree? I know you like pokemon, Lance! Why wonft you let me expand the Safari Zone?h

gWhy are you bothering me?h He sounded amazingly lucid, though Red was not quite sure how inebriated the Dragon Master was. gYou only need one vote, Red. It need not be mine.h

gBut Karen and Will always vote with you whatever you choose!h

            Lance raised an eyebrow.

Red frowned. gIfm not stupid, you know. I went back and looked up everything else we voted on in the past six months.h

gYou have certainly done your research well, Champion.h Lance acquiesced complacently. gBut we just happen to have different priorities.h

            gDamn it, Lance! Answer me!h

gc You break into my room, break my furniture, and then demand an explanation of me? Thatfs quite rude of you, Champion.h

Red threw his hands up. gTell me!h

Lance did not reply. And Red stormed out, huffing.

Apparently Day 2 of debating was not going wellc

< Hefs such a child isnft he? >

< Indeed. > Lance opened his eyes lazily, the pupils taking on a faint blue glow. < And I will not allow it to pass. >

< Child, you are being contraryc we could always relocate the dragons that live there, and the Safari Zone is not bad in and of itself. >

< What would be the fun in that? I am teaching him important life lessons. >

Lugia sounded amused. < Like learning to compromise, child? >

< Perhaps a little bit like that. > Lance agreed.

Laughter sounded in his mind. < As long as you do not break himc >

< Anything goes! >

Day 3 of debating was marked in the morning by a phone call from Yellow. Red confided in her that his memories had still not returned, but he thought it would be better if he stayed here for a while. After all, living with her and Orange was just too strange!

Lance actually participated in this one, interjecting comments here and there, but Red was getting seriously ticked off.

At this rate, hefd have to hypnotize the Elite Four if he wanted anything done! c That thought was getting appealing.

Why did they have to be so stubborn?

gWhat will it take?h He finally asked on the night of the fourth day, accosting Lance before the other trainer could enter his room.

gWhat will what take?h

gDonft play the innocent with me, Lance! You think Ifm not compromising? Well, Ifm sick of going over the same points every bloody day, so letfs compromise. What do you want in return?h

gYou mean you are asking me that if I vote for this proposal, you willc bribe me?h Lance smirked.

gIf it comes to that, yeah.h Red muttered.

gAnd if my price is too high? What thenc?h

gWhat? Ifm richer than you are.h Red scoffed.

Lance did not move for a moment, before he laughed. gWhat will you offer to keep this dream of yours a reality, Red?h

gWellc how much do you want?h

gc I do not think you will like my price.h

gArgh! Just give me a straight answer!h

gVery well.h Lance turned around, and Red blinked. There was somethingc off. Maybe it was just the black leather swivel chair Lance was sitting in, butc

gAnything?h

gc Lance, shut up and tell me.h

gVery well. If youfre going to be that insistentc for every point you write in that proposal, and I agree to, you will spend two nights in my bed, acting in the capacity of my willing partner.h

Red blinked twice.

Then the shock set in.

gWhat?!h

gYou asked.h

gB-But thatfs terrible! Lancec I canft!h

gWhy not?h Lancefs voice dropped down to a purr. gIt is nothing that will cause you permanent discomfort.h

gBut Ifm marriedch

It was a feeble protest and they both knew it.

Lance turned around, focusing his attention onto his papers once again. gIn that case, please remove yourself from my presence.h

gI knew there was a reason I disliked you.h Red muttered.

Lance did not reply, and Red slammed the door shut on his way out, seething.

How could Lance ask such of thing of him! It didnft make sense! Or maybe it didc maybec

Maybe what?

Maybe Lance just really needed to get laid?

< He refused? >

< Of course he did >

< You are playing with fire, childc >

< It matters little. I can break him if I wish, or bend him to my will, but I thought to seec but he really cannot remember. I was too thorough. >

< I warned you of the consequences. >

< Yesc After all, Ifm the one who erased his memory in the first place. >
