Um… possible Delia-bashing?

Chapter 6

Delia frowned as she watched the two strangers leave them. It seemed that for all intents and purposes, they were now prisoners…

            This was bad…

Jacob was crying over his Pichu’s defeat. Their intimidation had been enough to make the baby mouse faint…

The room was comfortable, twin beds, a dresser, reminded her of a hotel room, and there was an adjoining bathroom, but there were no windows…

            She shivered.

            “I… I want…”

“Shh,” She whispered, slipping a vial of icy liquid between his lips as he protested. “It will help.”

His eyes closed and he slept.

Lance sighed. * What do we do now? If we keep Jacob around, that will surely lead to problems… but I should throw them out and Delia would never leave her son… *

Why do I have to always play the adult in our relationship? All right, that’s not especially fair, but still…

She closed her eyes and did not wake until she felt danger. Instantly, her eyes opened, and before Jacob knew what had hit him, he was pinned to the wall with a very nice assortment of dragon blades.

“Do not ever attack a sleep-deprived guardian.” Lance hissed, and then hung him out of the window with Charlotte’s Punjab lasso for a good four hours since she wasn’t in a good mood. At least she hadn’t killed the kid…

No, this was not a good idea…

            < Hello, ice guardian… >

< What brings you here, fire guardian? >

            < I’ll take him away. >

            < What? >

< If you let Jacob remain here, he will destroy my little brother. I will send him to one of the worlds I’ve created, and he may raze it, leaving nothing, but at least tis not this world he will destroy. >

< Fire-seer, what do you see in his future then? >

< I see death in the wings, I see Ashura’s blood on his hands, I hear his laughter, and I will not risk it. >

< How soon? > Lance asked < If we simply removed him and left Delia here, it would wound Ash badly. >

< But if we allow him to stay twill kill him. Six months, Lance. That’s the absolute limit. My foretelling powers are never wrong. >

< I know, and tis your curse. At least I have fate on my side. Give us four. That’s plenty of time. >

            < Very well… >

Ash blinked sleepily. < Did you call me? >

            < Talking to Charlotte. >

< Oh, did Aneki say something? >

Aneki. Aniki. The incongruity of it – or the perfect halves. Who knows? Perhaps he needs both his older sister and his lover to comfort him after his nightmares. < She was just checking on us. >

< Where is she? Cosmos? Another one of her worlds? >

            < Cosmos I believe… >

< Mm. I’m going back to sleep. >

            < Sleep well. >

            “You’re worried about them.”

“I’m always worried.” She didn’t look up.

            “You’re so tense… let me relax you…”

“How many times must you attempt to seduce me before you realize that it’s pointless?” The fire guardian laughed, before her partner screamed.

Another one down… oh, she had her lies and illusions up all right, and being Champion of a League did cause… fangirls and fanboys both, but mostly boys.

She snapped her fingers as her Pidgeot soared in. Yes, mistress?

“Who set me up with Ben?”

            Wasn’t I, Mistress…

“I know, dear heart. Was it any of the legendaries?”

Not that I know of… I believe… hesitation, that Moltres would forbid it.

“Oh?” Now that was interesting. Moltres and Zapdos were mates, but… a smile teased her lips. “Is it what I think it is?”

            Perhaps…

“Fire is fire through and through after all. I’ll think about it.”

She tossed the corpse into the incinerator and watched it burn to ashes in seconds. Flames. Her flames of hell, or heaven? No matter, they left no evidence…

            “Let me out!”

Ash sighed and unlocked the door. “What in the world do you want?” He winced as a punch impacted with his nose. “Hey, that hurt!”

Jacob grinned triumphantly. “Hehehe, do you see how strong I am now? Let us out of here! I want to go home!”

Ash was too busy nursing his nose to protest as Jacob rushed down the hall – and smacked into a force field.

            Lance smirked. * Baka…. *

“No! Let us go! You evil people, and you’re mean! Wahhhhh!”

“If you honestly think such primitive things will work on me, you’re sadly mistaken.” Lance said as she walked back down the hall. “Ash, what happened to you?”

“He punched me in the nose…”

“And you didn’t do anything? Didn’t smack him with the cards? Didn’t puncture or break anything? Tsk, tsk… you either have supreme control – which I highly doubt – or you’re still in shock.”

“Second sounds right,” Ash mumbled. “Get me some ice please?”

Lance laughed as a block of ice formed in her hand and she wrapped it in a handkerchief before placing it on Ash’s nose. “I’ll heal you later.”

            “Thanks…”
