Chapter 3

Misty left the Saffron City gym, scared out of her wits. Sabrina had obviously turned Ash into a life-sized doll and was playing him like one would a puppet!

            Poor guy…

Anyways, she couldn’t rescue him, so she had to leave him there and flee while she still could! At least Sabrina wasn’t chasing her…

Misty shuddered. What would Sabrina want Ash for? Unless… a life-sized doll… for… could it be?

            EEW!

Bad thought there… Ash was kind of cute in a dorky way, but… eew…

She didn’t want to think about it again! She quickly began walking back to Cerulean City ASAP.

Who cared what her stupid sisters thought now? It was too dangerous to journey! Besides, she could train pokemon around Cerulean, so there!

Back in Saffron, Ash was packing his backpack and preparing to journey again.

            < Here. >

Red gratefully accepted the purple bracelet Sabrina handed him and slipped it on his left wrist. It would enhance his psychic powers so he could always find Sabrina and speak to her telepathically.

            Useful, in some situations.

She would also be able to find him without fail, in case he got into trouble. Precautions had to be taken.

After all, Team Rocket was after trained psychics. Who knew what they would do to kidnap people? Sabrina was left alone, because she was ‘unstable’.

            Acting always helped.

            < I’ll see you soon, Oneesan, I promise! >

< Of course! You’ll be back tonight, ne? >

            < Hai! >

Ash waved goodbye to Sabrina and took off to find a few trainers to fight in Saffron.

He soon found a bike gang picking on a little girl and her Rattata.

            “Leave her alone.”

The bikers laughed. “You’re just a kid, you can stop us? As if!”

Ash smiled. “I’ll take you all on.”

“Sure, we’ll even play nice and fight you one at a time.” One said. “I’m Skull, and I’m up first! Go Machop!”

            “Abra, I choose you!”

Abra appeared, still deep in slumber… a small smile indicated the presence of good dreams though.

Skull laughed. “Your pokemon’s, asleep, how can it fight? Machop, Karate chop!”

Abra teleported out of the way…

Machop tried a Low Kick instead. It missed and crashed into a garbage can.

            Red waited…

After ten minutes, Machop still hadn’t hit Abra. Skull got angry, quite predictably. “You’re cheating aren’t you?”

“No, not anymore… but I think it’s time to end this game. Abra, Counter!”

The Machop’s Submission attack hit it back double, and it fainted. Abra continued to snooze.

            Ash grinned.

            “Fine then, go, Koffing!”

            “Confusion.”

            One-hit KO!

            A wry smile graced Ash’s lips. * I should have done that sooner… *

            Skull retreated.

The second biker, Jolt, took his place. “Voltorb, go! Use Explosion!”

            “Teleport.”

            Explosion missed completely….

Ash grinned. “See what I mean?”

“Fine then, I choose you, Magmar!”

            “Abra, return. Squirtle, Surf!”

Flailing against the tide did no good as magmar fainted…

            That left one biker.

The leader growled. “You may have beat my two subordinates, but I don’t lose as easily Primeape, Low Kick!”

Squirtle quickly withdrew, but damage was still done.

            “Good, Primeape, kick it again!”

Squirtle used a Bite attack on Primeape’s foot as it came close. Primeape growled in pain, but little damage was done.

“Primeape, Karate Chop to break its shell!”

            “Squirtle, Withdraw!”

Squirtle’s Defense shot up again, protecting him… then he spat out a Hydro Pump. Primeape tried to fight the water, but it nearly drowned him by sheer volume.

With a sigh, Leader Jackson withdrew his Primeape, only to send out… Wheezing.

“Squirtle, you’re tired out. Return! I choose you, Charmander!” He had plenty of experience fighting that pokemon, thanks to TR…

            “Wheezing, Poison Gas!”

“Charmander, use Flamethrower!” The gas exploded, cutting Wheezing’s HP down to half.

Jackson glared. “Oh yeah? Wheezing, Sludge in the eyes!”

“Charmander, jump up and hit Wheezing with a Slash attack!”

Charmander obeyed, Wheezing suddenly looking punctured.

“Self-Destruct!” At least this way the opponent would go down too…

            “Not so fast! Charmander, protect!”

Charmander held up his claws in a warding gesture, which deflected the Self-destruct attack, much to Jackson’s chagrin.

"Kuso! I’ll have to use my trump card!”

However, before he could, he was immobilized.

Ash turned to the little girl. “You all right, miss?”

            She nodded shyly.

            “What’s your name?”

            “A-Amber…”

“Nice to meet you Amber, I’m Red. Well, I’ll see you around.” With that, he released Pidgeotto, and flew off towards Fuchsia.

He ought to try and get Koga’s badge…

Yes, that way he would have plenty of time to train before the league. Even though his family had a gym leader in it, or two, he was still eligible to compete. Thank mew!

It was a fast flight to Fuchsia from Saffron.

Amber watched Red fly away, her eyes changing into hearts. * He’s so handsome… *

            Her Rattata nodded.

“I want to be a great trainer just like him!”
