Chapter 8

Ash re-introduced Lance to his mom as his girlfriend.

It was only slightly far from the truth. She was his pokemon, right, so they were way close…

            Just not in that way!

Still, he was affectionate to her, so that was enough to convince Delia…

The next day, they went pokemon-catching.

            Ash soon spotted a Rattata.

Looking around furtively, he nodded to Lance, who used Thunderwave. That and a poke ball was one caught.

A few minutes later, a Nidoran female showed up and was also quickly bagged.

< So we have three months of pokemon capturing, at least, before Indigo League. Are you going to try and complete the pokédex in that time? >

Ash nodded. “That seems like a good idea.”

< So why are you training me? >

“Er… well, I didn’t train you that much on my journey since I couldn’t use you against any of the trainers, but pikachu and the others are level seventy-ish and you’re only nearing forty, so…”

< Sounds fair enough. > Lance said, stretching. < Ready whenever you are. >

Ash nodded, as he opened his pokédex and began scanning for pokemon. He was running in the direction of a Growlithe, Lance following, when he tripped over a Geodude.

The geodude was quite unhappy and started an earthquake.

Lance picked Ash up and flew up, wings beating so they were both out of the way. The earthquake continued for about twenty minutes, until Geodude ran out of PP for that move.

            “Lance, can you use Bubblebeam?”

< In the air? Of course! > Lance’s eyes flashed, before a volley of bubbles drowned the geodude. Ash quickly threw a poke ball.

            And that was another capture.

They returned home that night, tired but happy.

“Did you two have fun?” Delia teased. She had noticed that Ash had even left Pikachu at home…

            How interesting.

“We went to check out the circus in Viridian.” Lance said, faking shyness admirably as she blushed pink.

Ash was already tomato-ish, so she decided not to push him. But it was so cute! Aw… they were still kids.

            Cute.

            The phone rang.

            “Hello? Delia here.”

“Can I speak to Ash?” A frantic voice whispered.

Delia wondered why the video option was off, but nodded. “Sure. I’ll call him. Ash! Phone!”

            “Who would call me?”

Lance shrugged. < I have no idea. I’ll wait for you here. > She was back in her ‘harem girl’ outfit, as it saved energy that way, being her default uniform.

Ash ran downstairs and picked up the phone. “Hello?”

            “Ash? Is that you?”

            “Who’s calling?”

            “This is Misty.”

“Misty? What do you want? I already paid your bike back.”

“This is really important! You’ve got to help me!”

“Could you at least explain the situation so I know what I’m getting into?” He queried.

“Very well. I’ll be at your house in a few minutes…”

Ten minutes later, Misty arrived on the back of a rented Pidgeot.

Ash helped her down and watched as the bird flew off. “So what was this really important thing you needed to talk about?”

“Ash, I’ve turned into a pokemon!”

            “What?!”

Misty looked sheepish as she took off the parka she was wearing. She had a pair of curly green antennae sticking out of her head, and her legs were covered with green exoskeleton. If he looked closely, he could see the beginnings of another pair of legs growing between her arms and her legs.

She still was somewhat human, but…

            “And how did this happen?”

“I really don’t know! I was fighting this trainer with a Metapod and Starmie had just used Bubblebeam, when everything went dark! The next thing I knew, I was like this! I hate bugs! You’ve got to do something!!!”

“? Why are you asking me to help? I’ll take you to Professor Oak if you like…”

            “Could you?”

“… Sure…” Ash said, as he helped her walk to Oak’s lab. He noticed with a disturbed air that she was starting to scuttle instead of walk.

            Oh dear…

Well, Oak didn’t know about Lance, she had wiped those memories, so Misty would be the first official case.

Oak took the news rather well.

“I knew there was a link between humans and pokemon! I never expected it to be this close!”

“Can you turn me back?” Misty begged.

“Well, were you hit with any elemental stones?”

Misty shook her head. “No, but something hard hit me in the back of the head and when I woke up I was like this!”

            “Misty, please describe what happened.”

“All right. I was fighting a trainer who wanted the Cascade badge. First, my Staryu defeated his Oddish, and then, he sent out a Metapod and I switched for my Starmie just in case. He used Harden, and I used Spin tackle.”

            “And then what?”

“Well, then he ordered Metapod to use string shot, and… well, I told Starmie to counter with Bubblebeam. The two attacks hit, and then I got hit, fell in the pool, and when I woke up I was like this!”

“Pool… maybe it was the water.”

            “Can you turn me back?”

“I still need to study. Ash, you can go now.”

Ash was more than happy to comply and exit.

Lance was using her inner genie power to do her hair in different styles when Ash walked in.

            “So Misty’s been changed…”

< A bug? How… ironic. > Lance said dryly. < But perhaps it will cure her arachnophobia? >

“Maybe.” Ash replied. He began cleaning his room while Lance watched.

< Is that really necessary? >

“I like to be able to find things.” Ash said. By the next day, he had sorted out two boxes of junk, many old school papers, a moldy apple core, and various other objects that should most likely not be mentioned for fear it might harm the delicate stomachs of a few dear readers.

            A pokemon-catching we go…

And so time passed. More time.

I couldn’t think of a better ending to this chapter since I’m a _very_ busy person! Anyways! Hope a new chapter will kick off my writer’s block
