Chapter 4

Lance was half-asleep at his desk when Lorelei and Agatha rushed in.

“I think you need to see this.” Lorelei said flatly, as she brought up the T.V. screen. Lance stared for several moments in unmitigated shock, before a slow smile curved his lips.

“Well, well… the Indigo Council finally found out Pryce’s agenda, didn’t they?”

“His secret too.” Agatha put in. “Should we dispatch aid?”

“Yes… those children will be valuable to our cause.”

            “Understood. We’ll depart at once.”

“I’ll take Duplica.” Lance said. He whistled and she appeared a moment later. They climbed abroad the Dragonair and flew off.

It would not take long at all.

Agatha and Lorelei were already herding frightened kids into their plane. Yes, there would have been other helicopters and planes in the air, but the weather was against them. The tanks and squad cars that had shown up were being blasted and destroyed by handy bolts of lightning.

Red and Pikachu were hiding in a tree, praying not to get caught. It wasn’t fair! The Indigo Council had banned all mutant trainers from entering the league, and now they were just trying to kill them?

His fingers itched for the lighter, but if he used fire now, they would find him in seconds. It was a good thing that that freak storm was going on though, or else Pikachu’s electric attacks would have been noticed.

Or maybe it wasn’t a freak storm, he thought, as he saw a Dragonair approaching. Trainers?

            They were fighting against Indigo?

            They must be mutants then!

The leader seemed to see Red, even from his hidden position. The Dragonair he was riding growled, and blasted out a Hyper Beam attack. Screams sounded. It continued to fire the deadly energy bolts – they even changed direction independent of the pokemon – and seconds later, only a smoking ruin was left.

The pink-haired trainer jumped off and waved to Red.

“Hurry. They will send reinforcements. This school is no longer safe for you!”

Red did not question it. He smiled at the lady with green hair also riding the Dragonair. Nearby, he saw a plane full of his schoolmates fly off.

            Good. They were safe.

The children were frightened, but one of Lance’s accomplices was a woman named Jasmine, who had the special ability to soothe and calm wild pokémon – and also panicked children. It did not take long for them to settle in, though it was quite crowded in Lance’s Houen base afterwards.

Meanwhile, Pryce was somewhere off in a government laboratory. It was doubtful as though whether he would make it out alive, or even sane.

So much for dealing in good faith!

            “Thank you.” Red said formally.

Lance shrugged. “It would be unfair to leave fellow trainers in need.”

“I’m not a trainer.” Red said bitterly. “I’m a mutant.”

“Such a terrible designation. I prefer the term ‘gifted’ myself.” Lance parried. Red raised his eyebrows.

            “You…”

            “Yes, of course I do.”

“I should have guessed.” Red sighed as he sat down on a convenient bench lining the hallway wall. “So why did you want to talk to me?”

“I wished to know what power was yours.”

Red smiled bitterly. “Fire. But I can’t create it. I can only control it…”

Lance did not answer, before he pounced. Red found himself flat up against a wall with the man’s hands on his shoulders.

“What-what are you doing? Get off me!”

Lance did not reply as he sealed Red’s lips with a kiss. Red flailed wildly for a few seconds, but his hormones were chanting and he was hard-pressed to ignore them. A moan forced it s way out as Lance broke the kiss, his hand slipping beneath jean fabric and cupping Red’s swelling erection.

“N-no…” He gasped, but it was weak and they both knew it.

“I don’t think I asked for your opinion.” Lance purred, as he tightened his grip. Red’s eyes glazed over slightly as he came with a moan. Semen soaked the front of his pants as he whimpered.

Lance did not seem to be easing up the pressure, and Red felt himself getting hard again almost immediately.

“But why?” He asked, as Lance’s fingers began to probe behind him, before one forced entry in and he gasped. “Why me? Why…”

“That… is a secret.” Lance whispered, before Red’s mind decided to shut down for the time being and they touched in the most intimate way possible.

Afterwards, he dressed in clean pajamas – real silk, in a stunning shade of dark red – and climbed into bed with Lance. It was nothing really special, just sex, but Lance was nice enough, and he had saved his life…

Besides, the sex had been really good, even if he was still a bit sore!

Red yawned and cuddled closer to him.

It was nice to have someone to cling to. Lance ran long fingers through his hair, and he arched into the touch, almost purring.

            “Do you hate Pryce?”

“A little.” Red replied, surprised at the change in topic. He stifled a yawn. It had been a rather taxing experience. “Can I have hot chocolate?”

“Of course.” Lance rang a bell. A woman clad all in white entered. Silently, she offered the drink and vanished. Red blinked.

            “You have servants here?”

            “No. It’s the house itself.”

            “This base…?”

“Yes. Hundreds of pokémon gave their lives for its construction. We thank them in this way.” He paused, and then offered Red the hot chocolate.

Red sipped it. “If Pryce hadn’t left, he could have helped protect the school.”

“Yes, it was rather unfortunate that he was gone.”

“Well, we’re all just kids… I’m like one of the oldest…I’m worried now… I mean, it was nice of you to take care of us, but it’s expensive and…”

“Don’t worry.” Lance reassured him, voice glistening with an emotion Red could not quite identify. “Everything will be all right…”

            Everything… will be all right.

Red snuggled deeper into Lance’s embrace, and believed in his words.

Not really romantic… but hey, it seems to work. Don’t ask me how! And Red’s in shock, so he has no defense against Lance’s underhanded tactics. ^_~

Lance is a bastard. I already know that. *Grin*
