Yep, another Ash fic, another author speculating on whom Ash’s father is…

Disclaimer: *Winces* Shadow does not own pokemon

Storyline: This takes place post-CCA, Dragon’s Love, ‘Creating my own Destiny’ and ‘Seeing Selective Reality’

Notes: <> indicates telepathy, ** indicates thoughts, italics indicates pokemon speech.

Timeline: During Ash’s first battle with Sabrina, Episode 22: Abra and the Psychic Showdown.

Note: Um, this will probably deviate from the English Episode script, because 1, it’s a fanfic, and 2; I’m translating from Chinese. Since I have the Chinese version…

Title: Psychic Destiny

Part 1: Surprise in Saffron City!

The three trainers appeared in front of the Saffron City gym.

            “What’s this?”
“You don’t know Sabrina’s Gym?” A voice asked.

“You want to enter the Pokemon League Tournament, don’t you? But its best to avoid this gym!”

“Eh?” Ash turned around and spotted a man in green with a yellow cap walk away.

“What do you mean?” Ash called after him, but the man didn’t reply.

“He said to stay away from this gym…”

“But I need to get this badge!” Ash said. And with that, he walked inside. Brock and Misty followed.

“Is anyone here?” Ash asked as he stared at the empty stadium.

“This doesn’t look very much like a stadium…” Brock muttered. “More like a temple or something…”
Laughter echoed from the shadowy throne, as the form of a little girl appeared.

“You’re the girl that saved Pikachu!” Ash said. “Please battle me, since you’re the holder of the Marsh badge!”
“Oh, we can battle.” The girl said. “But if you lose, you have to play with me!” The screen in front of the throne rose and the doors slammed shut. Sabrina appeared, carrying the doll.

“Are you the gym leader Sabrina?” Ash asked, trying to shake a sense of déjà vu as she levitated herself to the edge of the battlefield.

“We don’t have to waste time talking. Let’s begin our one-on-one battle now.” Sabrina said, as a poke ball floated out of her hands. “Come out, Abra!”
Ash suddenly winced as he looked at it. He was shaking so hard that his pokédex dropped from his hands, beeping out Abra’s stats.

“Pi?” Pikachu looked up at her trainer.

            Are you okay, Ash?

“I’m okay…” Ash said as he tried to shake the feeling of foreboding. “Go out there and make me proud!”

Pikachu looked worried, but she scampered onto the battlefield.

“Pikachu, Thundershock!” Ash said, ignoring the shakes. * What’s going on? What’s wrong with me? *

Pikachu nodded and Thundershocked the Abra, but it Teleported out of the way. This was repeated several times.

“Brock, look at Ash.” Misty whispered.

Brock blinked and looked away from the battle. Ash was curled up in a little ball and shaking, plus he was whispering nonsense under his breath. “What’s going on?”

“I don’t know.” Brock admitted. “I’ve never seen anything like this before.”
Suddenly, both Ash and Pikachu began to glow with blue light. Sabrina paused in her battle to watch with slight interest. So did Abra.

Indigo Plateau HQ…

“Karen!” Will called from his ‘room’ as his Slowbro defeated his challenger’s last pokemon.

“What? I’m kind of busy here!” Karen called. “Houndoom, Flamethrower!” This sent her opponent’s Vileplume into the Center in a hurry.

“Can’t you feel it?” Will asked as Karen teleported in and landed next to him. “Ash is-!”

“Breaking the seal we placed on his powers so he wouldn’t be a target of Team Rocket? And Xatu as well?”

            “Yep.”
Karen swore as she grabbed her poke balls and Will. “Come on, we have to find him before Team Rocket does! I thought that leaving him in Foster Care with Delilah for two years would keep him safe, but I guess it didn’t!”

“I know! We even sealed his memory as well as his powers and placed an illusion on Xatu so nobody would suspect anything! What could have triggered this?”

“Don’t know, but we don’t have much time! Let’s Teleport!”

The two members of the Elite Seven nodded to each other and vanished.

Saffron City gym…

When the light clear, Ash’s brown eyes were a clear blue color, and his black hair had a silver streak on one side and a golden streak on the other side.

Pikachu was no longer a Pikachu. Instead, it was some type of flying pokemon that Misty and Brock couldn’t identify.

< Xatu, Nightshade. > Ash commanded telepathically. Both of their eyes glowed blue as Xatu fired the wave of dark energy at Sabrina’s Abra, who just managed to avoid it. Sabrina looked slightly amused.

< So you’re psychic as well. Good, this should make the battle more interesting. > She said. < Abra, use Confusion. >
< Xatu, use Future Sight! And if you can do it, I want you to teleport out of the way. > Both Misty and Brock shuddered when they heard Ash’s psychic voice. It was so cold! Like ice, even.

His bird? Pikachu? Xatu? Nodded its head and obeyed. It managed to Teleport out of the way of Abra’s Confusion, but not its Disable. However, when Xatu was about to be hit with Psychic, a horde of blue energy spears all slammed into Abra, knocking it out. Ash allowed a hint of a smile to escape.

< Good work, Xatu. I knew you could do it. > Ash said. The bird hopped over to him and preened.

Sabrina recalled her fallen Abra and tossed Ash his Marsh badge. Just then, Will and Karen arrived on the scene.

            “Ash! Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, mom.” Ash said. “Don’t worry, I handled the battle just fine.” He hugged his psychic bird pokemon tightly and smiled.

“That’s not what we meant, Ash. Has Team Rocket been…”
“No, the team they assigned me was chasing me because they thought ‘Pikachu’ had a lot of power,” Ash replied. “Not because they knew about me.”
“Sabrina’s gym. Figures that you’d get your memory back here.” Will said as he ruffled Ash’s hair. “The question is… can you hide them? If Team Rocket finds out about you, then it could get messy.”

“Like how mom is really grandma Agatha’s daughter, not her grand-daughter? And how you aren’t as young as you look?”

            “Part of it, yeah.”
            “Um… Excuse us?” Misty asked.

Meanwhile, Brock was staring at Karen with heart-shaped eyes. * Oh my god she’s so beautiful! *

Will and Karen turned to Ash, waiting for an explanation.

“Um… they’ve kind of been traveling with me, I sort of owe Misty a bike, Brock just tags along.” Ash offered as a feeble explanation.

Will sighed. “They are gym leaders, Karen.”

“But can we trust them?” Karen shot back. < Besides, they’re Kanto not Johto. >

Misty and Brock both gulped as Will’s eyes went blue and Karen’s went red.

            “Uh-oh…”
