Chapter 3

Life settled into a rather comfortable routine. Lance did most of his work from home, so Ash continued to study in preparation for his pokemon journey, though he discontinued going to Pallet Town Elementary. His new home was at Indigo Plateau after all… he would make breakfast and his father often took him out to eat, and they spent their evenings together playing board games and such.

            It was nice.

He still could not stop the shivers though. Every time his father spoke or touched him, it seemed to lightning rod down to that thing between his legs. Ash didn’t yet know about sex, and Lance never bothered to enlighten him, guessing correctly that the memories of rape had been subsumed in rage and pain. No matter.

Ash would find some nice girl to like in a few years and than things would go from there.

Lance didn’t bother to think about the other part. Besides, his son would be immortal, or at least pretty close to it. Both his parents had been half-legendaries, so he himself ought to be the same way.

Oh, he had loved Ash’s mother, but only as a sister and they had known what they must do. The last child had to be brought into the world, so they had slept together, despite their initial revulsion, fire and ice didn’t mix after all, but she had conceived and that was the end of that mater, and both fervently wished such an experience never happened again. Pity Ash could never remember in time, and she was gone, so they had both privately vowed never to mention this again…

He studied the picture of his mother with interest, she had long wavy black hair and golden eyes like his father, and in the picture, and she was posing with a Ninetails. There was something odd though, about her, perhaps it was the large black broach pinned on her blouse. Very odd…

If he looked more closely at it though, it seemed to move. It was a trick of the light, perhaps?

            “Father?”

            “Yes, Ash?”

“Is this… what’s mother wearing?” He asked. His father had not spoken of his mother once in the six months he had been living with him. At first, Ash thought it might just be grief, but now… it seemed to be something else.

“You’re sharp.” Lance returned with a smirk. “Let me show you.” Ash followed him down the hall to his study, than watched as Lance stepped on a panel almost hidden beneath the crimson carpet.

The bookshelves – all six of them, instantly slid around, revealing another room, along with five secret passages.

They went into the room. There, sitting in a glass case, were several items. Ash recognized a stylized pokédex, some poke balls, and there it was…

The oval shaped black badge was perhaps three inches in diameter, and glittered with sparks of multicolor that were moving.

            “What is this?”

“The Solar System badge.” Lance explained. “In the Cosmos League, the nine badges are named after the planets. Defeating the league as Champion earns you the solar system badge, which holds all your other badges and is proof of your championship.”

            “Cool…”

Lance nodded. “Did you have any more questions?”

“What was mother like?” Ash immediately asked.

Lance flinched. In all honesty, he had not known her very well. They usually only communicated in the line of duty. Still…

“She was very cheerful, like you, and she loved fire pokemon. Her favorite food was strawberry cheesecake ice cream, she played clarinet and flute…”

Ash nodded, filing this away in the back of his mind. “Did you love her?”

“Yes.” Lance replied. It was true, in a way. He loved her devotion to duty and to the Chosen, and the way she protected her pokemon. He loved her power when they razed those who deserved it and he loved her control of the Dream Realm, so he loved many things about her.

He just didn’t love her, as he should a wife. Their sex had been a matter of necessity, and it had been necessarily quick. He didn’t really like it much, in any case. Whenever he had urges, it was so much easier to kill until his hands were red with blood and the flames had burned themselves out. Delicious.

Ash snuggled against Lance’s chest as he continued to stare. The tiny diamonds and other crystals set into the badge twinkled, almost as if they really were moving, and he realized that they were moving. He watched, fascinated, even as soft fingers stroked his hair and suddenly, questions about his mother were no longer that important.

Lance squashed his lust tightly and sighed. Even if this time, things were different, he could still remember, and in all honestly, he felt no guilt…

He wanted the adorable child in his arms. His memories never faded unless he were drugged or under legendary influence…

Neither was true this time, though they had done what they must do. He knew what the conditions were, and he had kept to them, played his role once it was clear what role he would play.

            Beautiful.

He had no qualms against incest, after all, since all the legendaries were related and still slept together despite it.

Besides, even under normal circumstances he was Ash’s cousin. What did it matter if they loved?

They were pawns after all, and their blood stronger if mixed. And this time, his child would be perfect, a counterpart to his madness.

“Father…” That voice should be outlawed. It was much too adorable…

            “Yes?”

Ash flushed crimson at that purr, he could feel it rumbling against his body and it was strangely… almost too nice.

            “I… I want…”

He understood, of course. He pressed his lips to the boy’s, feeling them open beneath him as he carefully lowered Ash to the ground, burrowed into burgundy. An innocent in a sea of blood, he thought, smirking.

Ash gave a surprised mew but he felt hardness against his thigh and he understood. “You want me.”

            “Yes!”

“Then I shall give you what you want, my child…” His tongue flicked the curve of an ear and Ash almost came then and there. This wasn’t fair, but it was fun…

            “F-Father…!”

He could taste blood underneath the kiss as he dove in to claim Ash once again, and Ash bucked his hips upwards, breathing shallowly but feeling better than he ever had in his life. He wanted this, all of it…

And then stars exploded in his vision and he cried out, but there was pleasure underneath the pain.

            That was enough for him.
