I tend to refer to Lance as ‘he’ and ‘him’ even though Lance is a girl. Its just habit, plus other people still think she’s a boy

Chapter 5

Jasmine and Ash developed a routine, they each spent four-hour shifts watching for danger, but after a week or so, the Krabby and other pokemon quit attacking.

“Maybe they decided not to let this place fall?” Ash suggested. “The lighthouse doesn’t hurt pokemon, does it?”

“No…” Jasmine said, eyeing the light critically. “But it doesn’t make sense…”

“Sure it does. The Elite just want people to stop hurting pokemon.”

            “”How do you know?”

            Ash flushed. “Red told me.”

            “You’ve met Red? When?”

“It’s a long story, Jasmine… you know him?”

“Only by reputation. I never battled him.”

            Ash shivered. “He’s strong…”

“I bet.” Jasmine sighed. “I don’t know what to do, Ash. I wish I did, but I mean… we might be stranded here for months!”

            “Are you worried?”

“Not really, just… I wish I knew what was happening out there…”

“I’ll send Noctowl out for news.” Ash said. “They used to do that with Pidgey. Deliver messages…”

“You know, that might be a good idea.” She admitted thoughtfully, after consideration for a few moments. “Let’s do it. Who are you going to send Noctowl to?”

            “Brock and Misty.”

            “Sounds reasonable…”

            Ash grinned. “Thanks!”

He wrote out a letter and sent Noctowl out at midnight. No one seemed to have noticed… what he didn’t consider was ghost pokemon. They could phase through walls after all… which was why no attacks were necessary.

“Should we leave them be, Lance?”

Lance paused, looking up from the monitor. “It seems a good idea, Agatha. They are no threat to us.”

            “But what of their communications?”

“What of them? Lorelei has Misty with her on Four Island.”

“And Bruno has Brock with him. I have control of both of them now. I see your point, Leader.”

“Erika is still out there, but she poses no real threat. I believe Sabrina and Morty had a hand in that.”

“Than most of the trouble left lies in Houen. Their Elite are still strong, Lance.”

“Pity that’s true. Steel… ice… although Glacia may be working with Lorelei now. Can you check for me?”

Agatha vanished in a swirl of fog as Lance studied his checklist.

“Brawly and Chuck are together in Cianwood… interesting…”

Cianwood had been left mostly untouched; it was an island, after all. Aside from the few buildings, which had been decimated, the rest of the island was still pristine.

The same went for Dewford. He had no doubt the trainers were hiding out in their island caves, waiting.s

            Now who to send…?

Blue might be useful. Her wily nature served her well, but she and Silver were out fixing things at Lake of Rage at the moment…

What about Green or Red? Red was here at HQ right now with no assignments, and Green was busy finishing the last touches on Agatha’s ‘Oak’ project.

            Red then.

There was just one small snag in his plan. No one knew where Yellow was. Perhaps she had hidden under an assumed name?

Even if that were the case, those of Viridian shared a bond, that Giovanni and Lance both knew, so they shielded, but Yellow had never been taught how.

Where was she? Who was she?

He snapped his fingers and his Aerodactyl appeared in a flap of knife-bladed wings. Yes, Master Lance?

“Do you have any of Yellow’s whereabouts?”

Aerodactyl nodded. We tracked her to Ever Grande City.

“How fitting. Thank you, my dear Ptera. You are dismissed.”

Good luck, Master! The pokemon were happy. Most of the Kanto cities had now been overgrown with grass and plants. Of course, Lance had a hand in that, along with the Mother. Viridian.

Forest had replaced desolate wastelands, grasslands covered desert, and in some areas, the water was again clear and sparkling. Soon, the fish pokemon would return, some of them, and repopulate the region like it was meant to be.

The resistance in Kanto was basically located in Cinnabar, but that was close to their Seafoam Base…

Not all cities suffered the same fate though. A few were kept as sanctuaries, as they were supposed to be.

That was just the way things were…

            “Red?”

Red appeared in a swirl of brilliant red and white and blue. He settled himself on Lance’s lap and smiled up at her.

            “What is it?”

“We’re leaving the Olivine Lighthouse be, but I’d like you to infiltrate the resistance camp in Dewford.”

“Understood.” Red nodded with a smirk. “No trouble.”

            “I know.”

With that, Red released Aeroy and took off, heading for the Dewford Island. His Aerodactyl was insanely fast, but no one knew save he and Lance. They kept no secrets from each other, though the Pallet trainers were a closely guarded secret.

            They all hid things…

Well, that was the way things were. Red soon arrived at Dewford and was warmly welcomed. Everyone knew the Pallet trainers had fought the Elite at Cerise. Few knew it was a set up.

            Pity.

It was so easy to get access that he almost laughed. Green’s new Porygon2 was more than happy to help, and soon, all the information was in the Elite Four database. It was time to strike.

And one morning, Ash and Jasmine looked outside and saw that the sea was blood red, and there were no pokemon.
