Chapter 10 – Syaoran

I cannot believe I was so careless, but I didn’t know Harry Potter would wake up! I am so lucky Yue was paying attention on his end and used Erase on the boy’s memories. I have to be more careful now though…

Nothing else really interesting happened. Classes were classes, and I found out that I’m really good at transfiguration. Of course, that’s because I’ve had practice – isn’t capturing Clow cards and changing them a kind of transfiguration on it’s own? And what about my wand? Maybe it’s not just illusion…

History of Magic is still a boring class. Binns is going on about goblin wars that don’t really matter…

Potions – well, Snape’s being nasty to Harry but oddly enough, he’s not showing any feelings of malice towards me yet. I guess it’s because I’m partnered with Hermione and keep my mouth shut. It’s easy, though, potions I mean, because we did a lot of that back in the Li Clan.

Charms? Not good, not bad… interesting class if I can tune out Hermione Granger. It’s bad enough that she’s my potions partner, but her voice seriously annoys me. It’s like… well, Tomoyo’s kind of. Annoying.

Astronomy… ah… well, it’s not a bad class. It’s cold up on the tower, but if I wear an extra jacket that basically helps, and the only problem is that I keep staring at the moon. I’ve got to stop it.

But the moon always makes me feel better. Maybe that’s because my magic is moon-type. I know Yue feels better now, my earlier magic didn’t last very long but now that I’m growing magic faster he’s healthier too.

Herbology? I’m still sneezing, but I’m pretty good at that too… nice plants. At least plants usually don’t try to kill you…

Today, though, was different. We were going to be flying. We were going to be flying on broomsticks. Call me biased, but I’m sure a charm to make someone grow wings or even a levitation charm would be much better. I just can’t stand the thought of being on a broom! It reminds me too much of riding the Fly card… and that was a tight fit! Hermione’s blabbing on about flying tips, and… oh! Mail’s here!

Who’s going to be sending me mail? I don’t even have an owl! My family doesn’t know I’m here, so…

Uh-oh.

It’s from Eriol… this could be bad… and how did he know?!

I’m surprised you actually ran away from home. Don’t ask how I found you, I have my ways. But do you really think this is for the best? Oh certainly, Sakura won’t die or be seriously injured in the course of her card changing, but… well, think carefully on this decision because it may change your future.

Hiirigizawa Eriol

What cute little descendent? What is he going on about? I always thought Hiirigizawa was slightly insane, but…

Maybe there’s a reason I always felt tense around him. Mizuki-sensei told me that different magics attract and repel, so…

Maybe he had his own magic?

If he were a wizard, that would explain why I didn’t like him and how he knew about Hogwarts.

But what’s with his greeting?

And he said something about Sakura’s cards. Is he causing this?

Why?

I know Sakura needs to change the Clow Cards into her Sakura cards but is Eriol telling me he’s doing all this? Well, it’s not like I would go back to Tomoeda even if I knew… so he feels safe telling me?

I have to tell Yue.

Yue wouldn’t tell Eriol why I was here though, or that I was here, right? He must have found out some other way…

But if he’s causing those strange happenings in Tomoeda, he’s much more powerful than Sakura or me…

Wait…

Descendent… Clow Reed’s aura… could Eriol be Clow’s reincarnation? But Clow wasn’t a wizard, was he? Or is Eriol just a wizard who wants to make trouble? Oh, I’m so confused…

If he were really Clow’s reincarnation, then Yue would have to obey him, right? I’ll ask him tonight.

Harry is tugging at my robe to get my attention. “You spaced out again, Yuki. Who’s the letter from?”

“Looks like I have a wizard uncle.”

“Cool.”

“Maybe you’re half-and-half like me then.” Seamus grins.

I give a slight smile back… maybe my father was a wizard, so that’s why my mother wouldn’t tell me about him? It’d explain why I could use both ‘wizard magic’ and ‘magician’s magic’.

I’d like to know though.

Neville’s got something, it looks like a marble. He must have gotten it in the mail today. Oh, McGonagall just drove Malfoy and Crabbe and Goyle away. They must be starting fights again.

Flying… well, I’ll hope for the best! It’s time to go to History of Magic. I could catch up on some sleep there…

Flying turned out to be – well, the class got cancelled when Neville fell off his broom so I didn’t even have to try.

Sakura’s so lucky. She can use Fly to grow wings and fly…. But then again, she’s the one who won the Final Judgment, not me.

If I’d won, would my mother have welcomed me back to the Clan? Or, would something bad have happened? Would they send me on more dangerous quests for magical objects? I’ll never know.

What?

What is Harry doing? Even if Malfoy’s going to steal Neville’s remembrall, it’s no time to pull a stunt like this-!

Kuso! Malfoy just rammed Harry off his broom, but he’s falling too. I have no choice then.

“Feng Hua Shourai!”

The wind catches them both as it should. I hope Yue’s shielding is very good, but he’s probably going to lecture me tonight. Still, there’s no time to worry.

Both of them land safely.

The rest of the class is staring at me…

And McGonagall just came out. She looks angry. I bet we’re in for it now…

Gomen nasai, Yue…

No. She takes Harry away, and then Hooch comes back and the lesson resumes, but something’s different.

I don’t want to explain. I want them all to forget! I want-!

What? That was-! How, the Erase card erasing their memories? But how could it be? It’s Sakura’s card, and I don’t even have the cards with me, plus they’re not even mine, so it can’t possibly.. Did Yue mean we were connected like this?

I have to ask him as soon as possible…
