Wai~! Another chapter!

Notes: many deviations from HP storyline. I like differences. AU and OOC abounds

Chapter 18 – Syaoran

I can’t believe I’m doing this, but if anyone will know, Clow will, and there’s no point in wasting any more time. Besides, I did promise Yue, so now we’re standing alone in the common room, just the two of us. It’s 4 A.M., who else would be up at this hour?

“Return! Send us back to the time of Clow!”

The magic of the return card surrounds us. However, when I open my eyes, I see Clow… but where has Yue gone?

            Clow smiles.

“Um… hello?” How am I supposed to talk to my ancestor-slash-father?

“Welcome, Syaoran. I did not think you would drop by so soon, but I’m glad you came. I grow lonely here, sometimes.”

            “Where is Yue?”

“Yue? He is out with Cerberus in the garden, of course. Where else would he be?” I suddenly remember something. You cannot have two copies of the same person in one place. So that means Yue can’t be here since he already exists in the past.

            Oops.

Well, I suppose I’ll just have to tell Yue how things went when I get back to the present. Gomen nasai, Yue.

“So why are you here? Just a casual visit?”

He’s… smiling. I’ve seen Eriol smile, but Eriol’s smile is scary. Clow looks happy. I’m reminded of Sakura’s father, but then again, he’s the other half-reincarnation.

“Um… Clow-san, have you heard of the Sorcerer’s Stone?”

He looks thoughtful for a few moments, before motioning for me to follow him. We wind up in the study.

“Here.” I’m handed a thick, dusty volume on alchemy and can’t help sneezing as I open it. So much dust!

            Well, time to start reading…

            It must be in here.

Twenty minutes later, I’ve found it. The Sorcerer’s stone turns metals into gold and can give the elixir of life, which grants, basically, eternal life. However, it is created through blood and magic…

            Scary.

Maybe it’s not a good idea to steal it, but if say, Voldemort gets his hands on it, that’ll be terrible!

I have a few more questions though.”

“Clow-san, why did you send me to Hogwarts?”

“Wizards and magicians must learn that they can work together to achieve common goals.”

“What does that have to do with me?”

“Well, you see, you are the child of a wizard and a magician.”

            “But you’re not a wizard, Clow-san!”

“No, but my reincarnation will be.”

            “I see…”

I can’t say I much like Eriol though.

Clow seems to sense my thoughts and sighs. “Do not be too hard on my half-reincarnation, please. Eriol received my pain and magic, while Fujitaka received my kindness and all the nicer parts of my personality.”

            “I… see…”

No, I don’t really see, but I’ll try to understand. It’s just scary in some ways because Eriol looks my age!

            “Clow-san? I have another question.”

            He smiles. “Ask away, Syaoran.”

“Why – why did I lose the Final Judgment? Was that also preordained? Was that the reason Sakura was given the Bell of the Moon?”

This time, he looks concerned. “No, not quite. You changed fate when you drew Time. You were meant to defeat Yue.”

“But then what would happen to Sakura?”

“Nothing, really… you two would have become holders of my deck, each being able to call on one of the fifty-two cards, regardless of magic type.”

            “I see…”

“However, now that you have failed, you and Sakura are each creating your own decks. In a sense, Hogwarts will test you to create your own cards, and Eriol will test Sakura to create hers.”

            “I see.”

One last question… I feel time running short.

            “Do I love Sakura?”

“That you ask your own heart, Syaoran.”

The next thing I know, I’m back in the room… and Yue’s trying to wake me up. I open my eyes with a wince.

That took a lot out of me…

            < You’re alive. >

            “Yes, I am. What happened?”

The time shows 5 A.M. Was I gone for an entire hour? It didn’t feel that long, but now, I have to get to bed before anyone discovers I’m gone…

            < So what happened? >

I quickly fill Yue in one what happens. He is being awfully quiet about this, though. Is he angry with me?

            I hope not.

I mean, I don’t want him to be angry with me. Still, he could always leave and go back to Tomoeda right? Why hasn’t Sakura commented on his disappearance?

            I might as well ask.

“Yue, why isn’t Sakura worried that you’re gone?”

Yue half-smiles. “I persuaded Mirror to take my place. She was under my dominion as one of the cards, you know.”

I suddenly feel foolish. I could have just used Mirror to stand in for me when I want to leave the common room! It’ll be perfect.

            Pity I didn’t think of it earlier…

Well, in case anything happens, I don’t want to go blindly rushing in for the Sorcerer’s Stone. That will be much too dangerous. I’ll just wait…

            “Lock card…”

            It appears, newly created.

“Lock, please lock the door of the third corridor. Warn me if anyone tries to open it.” This way, I will not be wasting my time guarding.

            Lock nods and floats off.

Phantomness: Funny, that’s what my beta said

Yue: sighs

Phantomness: I’m working on it, but it’s so hard to write Harry’s POV…
