Chapter 32 – Harry

“I still haven’t heard how you blew up Aunt Marge.”

We’re standing in King Cross station, waiting for the last of the others in line to pass through the barrier before we can.

Yuki looks rather interested. I blush.

“Well, you know, it was accidental magic.”

            “That’s interesting.”

“Well, I’m just glad I didn’t get expelled…” I sigh. “Let’s go now. We’re almost late.” My watch shows three minutes…

Yuki nods as he tries to pass through the barrier, only to bump his head against solid stone. “What the-?”

“The barrier’s not working?” I press my hand against it. Yep, solid stone…

Moonlight is hissing madly, and I’m worried now, I walk back a few steps and try again, but its still rock.

            What’s going on?

Suddenly, a whistle blows… and the Hogwarts express is gone.

“Yuki, what do we do now?”

“Simple. We wait.” He says. “What else can we do?”

“Good point. We can’t Apparate, and you don’t have a broom so we can’t fly to Hogwarts… what are we going to do?” I have to go back to Hogwarts! I suddenly have a vision of being forced to live in King’s Cross Station for a year. Oh no!

“Harry, stop panicking. You have Hedwig!”

“Oh!” I nod and quickly scribble a note. “Professors, we’re stranded at King’s Cross. The barrier didn’t let us through. Help. Harry and Yuki.”

“Here girl, fly fast.” I say as she flies out of her cage and shoots out an open window. This does not bode well…

I didn’t expect Professor Snape to pick us up. Especially not on a bicycle. That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life! Snape in jeans and a black sweater! But it actually looked kind of normal!

Anyways, he told us to hold onto the bike. It turned out to be a Portkey, and then we were at Hogwarts!

We arrived faster than the other students too.

Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall were waiting…

            “So, Harry, what happened?”

“The barrier wouldn’t let us through.” It’s true!

“Well, at least you owled us instead of doing something stupid.” McGonagall says. I can imagine…

“Yes, good thinking boys.” Dumbledore beams. “Now, the others will be arriving in about five hours. I suggest you go up to your dormitories and rest.”

“Thank you, Professor.” I say. Yuki merely nods as we run upstairs. Snape didn’t say anything, which is odd.

            Oh well.

“I can’t believe Snape wears jeans.” Yuki says, as he puts his trunk down.

“I know! It’s hilarious!” The only thing I miss about the train ride is the candy, I suppose. Now how am I going to get more?”

Yuki nods in sympathy. “By the way, did you like your present?”

“Of course! Coral is wonderful, and the chocolates were good. I don’t think Snape is a vampire though.”

            “Why not?” He looks interested.

“Well, the book said that although vampire tend to be pale, they do have rather obvious fangs – and I don’t see those on him. Then, there’s the whole needing to feed every other day…”

“Oh, they need to drink blood every other day?”

“Yes, and it has to be human blood… at least once a month. I doubt Dumbledore would let Snape stay here if that were the case.”

            “So you say.”

“Mm, I’m glad I’ve done all my homework though. It really wasn’t so bad.” I flop down on my bed, staring up into red curtains.

I wonder what will happen this year? Honestly, I’d just like a peaceful year… not like last year with all that stress.

It’s annoying being the Boy-Who-Lived. But I’ve already spent a lot of time this summer thinking about it.

Maybe I should think pleasant thoughts. Like… not having to see Malfoy for a few more hours!

Or better yet, no Granger… honestly, she’s so annoying! At least she gets us House Points, sometimes…

But I don’t consider her a friend just because we’re in the same house.

Hn…. Oh look, it’s still light outside. I wonder if I can go fly around for a bit?

Yuki’s engrossed in his Defense Text, well, one of them. Suddenly, he throws it down with a bang.

            “Yuki?”

“This is absolute rubbish. If Lockhart is our teacher…”

“He is, he told me in Flourish and Blotts.” Idiot man! I don’t care if he gave me a set of autographed books, which I gave Ginny, he’s still annoying. And Lucius Malfoy and Mr. Weasley got into a fistfight there! And Draco taunted me, although it wasn’t my fault that git Lockhart noticed me!

The Malfoys and Weasleys seem to have some family feud. That’s too bad… I like Ron, and I might learn to like Draco… from a distance.

Oh well. they’ll both have to adapt.

Suddenly, there’s a really loud crash outside. We both run to the window to take a look… it’s a floating blue car…

            It’s a flying car!

And it’s just hit the Whomping Willow…

            What is going on here?

“You think someone flew that to school?”

            Yuki nods. “Could be…”

“I can’t believe it! What idiots!” The Hogwarts express hasn’t arrived yet, must be a fast car. Still…

Who on earth would… oh no. Ron would.

I suddenly have a bad feeling about this.

Sure enough, pretty soon Ron comes up to the dormitory, with Hermione of all people! I almost bite my tongue. So much for Granger-free time.

How in the world? Are they a couple now?

            “Ron, what happened?”

Ron sighs. “We missed the train. Hermione was in the bathroom and I was waiting for her outside since my mom told me to keep her company..”

            “So… you flew to Hogwarts?”

“Yes.” Hermione looks terrified. “I told you not to! Ten people have seen us! Snape took a hundred points from Gryffindor!”

            “WHAT?!”

Yuki looks shocked, but I was the one who shouted.

“And- and he said that it wasn’t because we’d flown to Hogwarts, but it was because we didn’t use our heads!” Hermione burst into noisy tears.

“Aw, come on, it’s not that bad…” Ron tried to comfort her. I cannot believe this. We’re in negative points before school starts?

            Bloody hell!

I can’t believe they were so stupid! They could have owled or something like we did! Why those… well, I’m glad Yuki stopped me from flying here on my broomstick in any case. We could have lost more points!

But a hundred before school even starts? Argh!

How could Ron – and Hermione! Oh, I hate that girl…

I don’t like Hermione. And Harry got a bit of brainpower over the summer I guess…
