Chapter 39 – Harry/Ash

I feel like the world has just fallen down on my head. It’s probably from having all those memories crammed into my skull.

            “Aneki, aniki…”

“Hello to you too.” Charlotte smiles. “Finally awake?”

“I missed you.” I hug her and we feel safe for a  moment, after all, she is my soul sister… “I can’t believe I let those stupid muggles hurt me…”

“You didn’t remember anything though… and we didn’t know where you’d gone. We found Clow to help look for you…”

“No, it’s not your fault.” I guess I should blame the fates. “Harry Potter? What a scary name…”

“It’s not quite true, actually.” Lance – aniki – cuts in. I feel myself blushing as he smiles. “Didn’t you know? Oh, Syaoran didn’t tell you.”

“Syaoran – ah, Yuki’s real name.”

“Yes. Snape is your father, and Lily is your mother… in your blood runs that of Salazar Slytherin and Rowena Ravenclaw…”

“You have Slytherin blood too, don’t you?”

            “I’m a Dragon Master, so yes, I assume I do. Charlotte…”

“Got stuck with Hufflepuff and Gryffindor.” She says grumpily. “This sucks. We have to leave this place tomorrow.”

“Nani? How long have I been out?”

            “Almost a week….”

I sigh. “We’re in an area between dimensions, aren’t we?”

“Close enough… for some reason, our dimension… you can’t come yet. You’re still too young or something.”

            “Oh? Then…”

“And you and Yuki have to travel together for a while longer. We won’t be able to see you for at least another year…”

It hurts worse than physical pain when they say that. At least I know they love me, in their own ways… I swallow. “All right…”

Lance hugs me and Charlotte follows.

I can wait… I can be patient… as long as I see them again… I look at my wand, unsurprised that it’s changed…

Now my staff lies there… I come out and greet Yuki/Syaoran. I’ll just call him Yuki since I don’t think he wants to use his name.

            “Hi, Yuki.”

He’s wearing white robes and grinning like a madman… Now that is an odd sight! Yue stands behind him and nods to me.

I nod back, as I collect Pika-chan and Sabrina… and well, here we go! Off we soar into the wild blue yonder!

… That is an annoying American military hymn that somehow got stuck in my mind. I won’t ponder why for now…

The Gateway card sucks us in…

We land gently enough in a haystack. At least nothing is broken… a farmer wearing patched overalls, a large straw hat, and a pitchfork comes running.

“You two just fell from the sky, did you not?”

            Yuki nods.

            “Oh, praise be to Saradomin!”

I blink. Who? It must be some god, but I’ve never heard of him before… I let out a startled squeak as I notice exactly what I’m wearing.

Black armor trimmed with gold, and I look fifteen, if not older… Yuki looks just as shocked, he’s wearing pure white robes… and a blue cape with yellow trim, and around his neck is a silver four-pointed star pendant, he’s holding his staff… and I’ve got a sword… Excalibur?

            What’s going on here?

The man smiles eagerly. “Might you be wandering adventurers?”

            “Er…yes?” I hazard a guess.

“Excellent!” He beams. “I am Farmer Jack. Welcome to the proud city of Varrock!” He waves and sure enough, a few fields away, is an imposing city…

We both gasp in slight shock though… it looks straight out of the history books. Perhaps we are in the past…

Jack nods. “A cleric and a warrior traveling together. Might you be the ones to rescue us all?”

“Is something wrong here?” Yuki asks.

“Indeed there is! I’ll take you to the palace, my lads, and King Raoul will surely have a task for thee!”

            “…”

I think I’m in some kind of RPG now…

“How come you got the sword?” Yuki whispers.

“No idea, I’d rather be a magician.” I whisper back, as we walk through the gates, past several guards in chain mail and brown helmets, carrying long spears… past a bar, a general store, several houses, a sword shop – oh, I might want to check it out later…

“Well, let’s see how this turns out.”

“I know… it seems we’ll have to cross a few dimensions before we can go back to…home…”

Not that that place really feels like my home anymore, but it can’t be helped. Well, here we are…

We’re led into this gray stone room. A king in green and red with a humongous golden crown sits on the throne.

Farmer Jack takes off before we can say anything.

“Ah! Two adventurers!” The King grins broadly, finally noticing us. “I could very well use some services, for great rewards.”

“What should we do?” I ask.

“For now, I need someone to contain the demon Delrith – it is right upon our fair borders.”

Yuki nods. “That ring of stones and altar…”

“Precisely. If you succeed, I shall pay you handsomely.”

We need money, anyways… why not? It might be good training. “We’ll take it.” After all, we’ll need money to survive here…
