Chapter 50 – Syaoran
This is bad. I’ve thrown the manga all out of whack. But I didn’t mean to! Well, no matter…
Apparently Jadeite barely made it back to Beryl and she couldn’t defrost him so she fired him and froze him. But it’s too early!
And if Usagi is the Moon Princess, I’m really worried about this dimension… so that means…
They’re after the rainbow crystals.
Nephrite didn’t even bother to go energy-gathering, but…
My head…
It seems I overestimated myself… or he sensed a crystal here at the shrine… oh, now I wish I’d watched the entire series instead of only the last few episodes and another few here and there…
This is bad…
And my eyes fade out as I see Yue and Cerberus attack…
I wake up to find Yue and Yukito both holding me, their eyes closed, bluish-white-silver energy of the moon streaming into my body…
“Stop! I’m fine now!” that catches their attention, and they stop.
< Syaoran, are you all right? >
< Are you badly injured? >
I shake my head. < What happened? >
< Nephrite was using his Dark Crystal to try and draw your rainbow crystal out. But you don’t have a rainbow crystal…>
< So what happened instead? >
< Your dark energy… kind of…. Well, ate his brainwashing. >
< Um… what? >
< The Four generals were brainwashed, so… now, he’s no longer working for Queen Beryl, which is good I suppose… >
< What’s the downside? >
< Er… he knows about your powers. He remembers Clow – he lived on Earth after all… and apparently, there was some sort of promise made. >
< Promise? >
< Yes. This dimension’s Clow promised his support to the Earth in the war against the moon. >
< Oh for the love of… > Sometimes he really hated his father, even though this one wasn’t his father.
< Luckily, Clow is dead, or at least we presume so, but he may still be alive in this dimension, so be on your guard. > Yue said.
< All right. Thank you. >
“I should thank you.”
Nephrite just walked in… he’s wearing a blue sports coat and white pants instead of his ‘Dark Kingdom General outfit’. It doesn’t look too bad…
“It wasn’t intentional.”
“Oh, I know.” He smiles. “But I owe you thanks nonetheless. I am simply sorry that Jadeite was…”
I wince. It’s probably partly my fault that he got frozen… and I can’t blame them for being brainwashed. Clow knows I was, at times…
He looks uncomfortable and then leaves to talk to Ami. Pretty soon, they’re discussing something scientific beyond my reach and I’m trying to get up from bed but none of my three guardians will allow it.
“Yue, I really need to go to the bathroom!”
There; that worked… I use a little help from Bubbles to freshen up – she giggles as she splashes me for a good ten minutes, and then I put on a clean uniform…
We are running out of time!
At this rate, within weeks we’ll be facing the R villains… sigh… and then S and Supers and Stars…
This is not fun…
The only bright spot is that Beryl can’t peek in on us. This shrine is warded – thanks to the wards already standing, and with Shield and Illusion and Mirror helping, well, it’s a lot safer.
I’m tired, though, so pretty soon I fall back asleep. And I must be more tired than I thought because I’m supporting both Yue and Yukito, because I sleep for a week…
And I find out that they’ve fought off two more youma… but that’s all…
They haven’t found Jupiter or Venus – V yet. I don’t mind. Perhaps the Jadeite thing was a fluke?
One can hope…
“Syaoran…”
Oh no… not another odd dream…
“Syaoran…”
I’m standing on top of Tokyo Tower… I know that, but who’s that person over there? I don’t recognize… him? Her?
Who?
“Syaoran…”
I wake up to find Dream putting a cool cloth on my head. Syaoran-sama, are you all right?
“What happened? I had the oddest dream…”
I think that was a foretelling dream.
“Then… something’s going to happen soon, isn’t it?” I don’t want to acknowledge it, but the truth must be told…
“I’m afraid so…”
Yukito comes in with a cup of tea. “Are you all right?”
I think he’s all right now. But I thank Yukito for the tea, and then ask where Yue is.
Yukito hesitates. “Yue is… he’s tired.”
Tired? Oh yes, it’s the dark of the moon tonight… he must be starved on energy. I nod and then go find him.
There…
So I gather Yue into my arms and feel energy slide into his body until it can’t hold anymore, and he sighs and kisses me…
And I feel Yukito and Cerberus smiling… and Yukito hugs me from behind when I feel dizzy, and Cerberus nuzzles his head into my lap, and for a few moments, we just sit there quietly, and it’s nice…
