Chapter 7

Red’s eyes were half-closed as he leaned against Lance’s chest, feeling warmth pool between his legs. Lance’s fingers were moving over him, gently probing, and he gave a sigh as they finally reached their goal. So warm…

Lance continued to hum under his breath, keeping Red’s active mind from breaking the surface. He felt a moment of tension and release, and then Red smiled up at him.

            “Lance… we really should…”

I know. He wrote, and Red slid off his lap with a smile. They collected their pokemon, and prepared to leave for Saffron.

Meanwhile in Saffron, Green was doing rather badly, as Koga had pinned him against the wall with a Muk, and had a Golbat’s wing to his throat. No Green was not quite happy.

Red and Lance snuck through the corridors, not really finding anything, that is, until Red stepped on a tile that sent them both falling through a pit. There, Lieutenant Surge was waiting with a Zapdos perched on his shoulders.

Somehow, that did not look good.

Which pokemon to use? Red thought quickly, before deciding that if Surge were going to use electric pokemon against him, his best bet would be ground… that meant…

Sandshrew appeared in a flash of light, just in time too, as Surge began firing Voltorbs at him.

Lance winced as he saw Red take a direct hit to the chest and go flying back into a wall. His Dragonair nodded in response and prepared to fight, but Red was still standing. Better not to interfere…

He sensed a presence approaching and nodded to Hakuryuu. A Hyper Beam blasted out into the hallway, and a feminine scream sounded.

Distracted, Surge turned, just in time for Red’s Sandshrew to successfully complete a Fury Swipes on him. His shockproof clothing suddenly developed a large number of tears and rips.

The Zapdos on his shoulders had to grace to look sheepish before Surge was completely electrocuted.

Red smirked as he petted Sandshrew on the head. “Good work, Sandshrew.” While Zapdos was fast, it had either chosen to ignore the small pokemon Red had released, or had missed its appearance completely, being focused on other things.

Red watched as Zapdos flew out the window and blinked twice in succession, before deciding that a free legendary pokémon boded better than legendary pokemon in he hands of Team Rocket. He took Surge’s electric-proof black gloves, which had not been damaged, and put them on. They might come in handy in the future.

Then, he headed out to rejoin Lance.

Lance, meanwhile, was not doing badly; Sabrina had not managed to escape Dragonair’s Hyper Beam completely, and was now clutching one arm to her side. The Dragon trainer nodded as he flicked his fingers.

Dragonair smiled, revealing sharp teeth. Sabrina decided that she would rather not handle this alone, and teleported Koga in for backup.

Koga was understandably startled when Sabrina appeared just as things were about to get interesting with Green. A thoroughly trussed up Green appeared next to them, just so they could keep an eye on things.

Lance raised an eyebrow, and Hakuryuu moved forwards with a Bite attack. Koga hurriedly summoned another Muk as a shield, resulting in a very affronted Dragonair deciding to just Hyper Beam away.

… They were on one of the higher floors of a tall building. Lance dearly hoped that he would not have to pay the repair costs.

Red meanwhile, had rushed to Green and used Sandshrew to pry the Grimer off him. Green, who was not dead, despite having been Razor Winded, brushed his clothing off and asked how they were to deal with the Articuno Koga had just released.

That was a good question. Lance had recalled his Dragonair at the first sight of the ice pokemon. Green shrugged, calling out his Charizard. That would do. Red released his Pika, and directed it to attack Sabrina’s Moltres.

Perhaps he should use his Aerodactyl too?

Lance repressed a shudder. Legendary pokemon – well, Moltres was not too bad, but having Articuno flinging blizzard attacks in a crowded hallway and trying to dodge was not fun. He didn’t even want to now what might happen if his precious dragons got caught in the crossfire.

And a moment later, there was no floor.

Red released Aeroy in midair, and it managed to catch him. Green’s Charizard scooped him up, and as for Koga and Sabrina, they respectively climbed on their legendary birds.

An ice beam to the stomach made Green’s Charizard howl in pain. Green clung onto his dragon’s neck for dear life, directing it to counterattack. Flames boiled out of its mouth as a Fire Blast streaked towards the Articuno.

Suddenly, Moltres cut in front of the other legendary bird, absorbing the flames. Red turned to Lance, and found him astride his own Aerodactyl, whispering to it. The Aerodactyl nodded, and charged at Moltres with a Supersonic attack.

Alas, Red had used the same strategy before, and a badly singed dragon was the only result. Not close enough…

Sabrina laughed triumphantly. That was more like it. She pointed at Red, and Moltres breathed out another stream of flames. Red’s Aerodactyl did not manage to dodge fast enough, and they plummeted downwards…

“OOF!” Blue winced in sympathy as Red and his Aerodactyl landed on top of her Jigglypuff. The Jigglypuff looked quite uncomfortable and on the verge of deflating. Blue saw a convenient rooftop nearby and dropped Red and his Aerodactyl off on it, before releasing her Mysdreavus once again.

Mysdreavus headed up to do battle bravely, but she was not an experienced pokemon, and Zapdos hit her with then thousand volts. She dropped to the floor, and Blue recalled her. How were they to deal with these foes?

Lance felt something in his mind click. He knew it was foolish, but it was worth a try. He released Gyarados, and ordered a Rain Dance. Green swapped for Pidgeot, not wanting his fire-type to get caught in the downpour.

Blue blinked. Rain Dance would raise the power of her Blastoise… aha! As the rain fell, she released it and ordered Hydro Pump.

Moltres teetered, and then fell, but a moment later, Articuno froze Blastoise into a statue. The Gyarados roared at Articuno and sank its fangs in for a Bite.

Green ordered his Scyther after Articuno as well, distracted as it was, a few Slash attacks would put a dent in its armor.

Red rubbed his head dazedly as he woke up. He could feel rain falling on his face. Pikachu was cradled in his arms, but not unconscious. Looking up at the flying contestants above, Red grinned.

            “Pika, use Thunder!”

Lightning crashed down from the skies, sending Articuno crashing into the streets below. Moments later, both Articuno and Moltres flew away.

Blue winced. She had wanted to capture them, but she still had a fear of birds. Perhaps it was better to leave them be for now.

Moments later, the police came to deal with the remnants of Team Rocket left in Silph. Most had already tried to flee, but Erika, Misty, and Brock were blocking the entrances. Hailed as heroes, the three Pallet trainers basked in the sunshine.
Lance smiled. As long as Red was happy…
