Chapter 1

“What a bunch of vultures.” Lance snapped as he slammed the door to his room shut, the silver dragons locking closed. “Sheesh. As if it’s such a big deal.”

“What do you mean?” Bruno asked. “Holy freaking hell Lance, you killed someone! They caught you with the knife and everything! And you aren’t worried at all? That kid’s parents are coming over tomorrow!”

“Why should I be?” Lance asked, flopping down onto his bed. “I do hope my little koibito comes to see me too…”

Bruno’s eye twitched as he edged away. “O-okay… I do _not_ want to know.”

He would have said more, maybe, but that was when Lance began to glow. Blue-white. Blue light surrounded him and streaked to silver, and then black, before fading away again.

            < Chosen? >

Bruno jumped, banged his head on the ceiling, and cursed.

            < Chosen… >

Bruno nearly screamed his lungs out when a GIANT DRAGON stuck his head in the window.

            “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

Lugia sniffed in annoyance. < Chosen? Are you all right? >

< I’m fine, Lugia-san. > Lance said, sitting up respectfully. < Bruno on the other hand, looks like he’s having a heart attack. >

            < Oh. >
Lugia shrank down to miniature size, tiny, really, and landed in Lance’s lap after flying in the window. < Better? >

            < I hope so. >

            “You-you-you-you!”
“Bruno, if you do not have anything worthwhile to contribute, please be quiet.” Lance said, as he hugged Lugia to his chest.

< How did you get caught, Chosen? >

Lance shook his head. < I do not know, honestly. We were alone in the woods, and I had already Hyper scanned the area so there should not have been anyone around, but somehow a reporter and a policeman just happened to stumble on me in the next moment. >

< That cannot be luck. > Lugia frowned. < Who would dare interfere? >

< Perhaps… > Lance said, his eyes going blood red for an instant. < The mews? >

< No, otherwise they would not have gifted you. >

            Lance twitched, but nodded.

< That leaves… Mewtwo; right Lugia? I have not yet defeated him. Suicune, Raikou, and Entei owe their lives to me. Serebii would not bother. The legendary trio falls under the control, and… >

            < Hai. >

< Very well then. It shall be done. >

< I can always count on you Chosen. > Lugia said. Lance shrugged, and watched as the bird pokemon flew away again.

“So Austin’s parents are coming tomorrow.” Lance said, slipping off his white gloves.

Bruno gaped at him. “You’re psychic as well?”

“Close enough.” Lance said nonchalantly. “They can try, but I’m like the wind. Pin me down and you’ll see how you fall.”

            “Oh, and duck.”

            Bruno ducked.

Gunshots rang through the hall. Several embedded themselves in the wall about where Bruno’s head would have been. Lance sighed.

“What a waste of energy, oh well…”

Instantly, a dome of white energy went up around the room. < That should hold for now… >

Bruno slowly edged away. “Lance, you…”

“Why are people making such a fuss? Trainers die every day in training accidents.” Lance said, sighing.

            < That is correct. >

“How nice to see you finally, Mewtwo.” Lance said, apparently addressing empty air. “Do us all a favor and appear, could you? It’s troublesome trying to debate air.”

            Mewtwo looked huffy, but appeared.

“Besides, what do you gain if I lose my status? I don’t _need_ to be the Champion of the Elite Four, we both know that.”

< This is for what you did to my amulet holder! >

Lance coughed. “Excuse me? That was while I was insane, and you _know_ what the Mews did. Besides, I wasn’t the one who killed him, Arcanine was.”

            Bruno blinked in more confusion.

< Besides… >, Lance said, as his steel wings shimmered into being behind him. < Do you think you can truly defeat me? >

            Mewtwo attacked.

Yes, psychic would have done a lot of damage…

Mewtwo teleported just before a Hyper Beam slammed into the area he had been in. Bruno gasped.

< Don’t push me, Mewtwo. > Lance warned, eyes settling on blood for certain. < I don’t like fighting legendaries, but if I have to… well… >

            He smirked.

            < I’m not Chosen for nothing. >

Bruno watched in horror as Lance began a sequence of steps, while shimmering silver blades danced in his hands. Too quick for the eye to follow, really, but as soon as Lance finished, he stepped back.

Mewtwo was not – dead really, but certainly defeated.

< Do not worry. I have merely locked your psychic power for a week. > Lance said confidently.

< You… so the rumors are true after all. > Mewtwo said. < You _are_ Lugia’s child. >

< Very observant, Mewtwo. > Lance said, smiling. < Well? >

The psychic cat laughed. < I am at your mercy, am I not? >

< Well, I will not kill you. That would tip the balance again… just don’t bother me. I want you to reverse what you did. >

< The unown locked that door. I cannot. >

Lance’s smile slipped for a second, then smoothed out. < Very well. Then I just want you to stay out of my way. >

His eyes glowed, and Mewtwo found himself in Whirl Islands while Lugia looked amused. < Don’t underestimate him. >

< I don’t think that will happen for a long time. > Mewtwo coughed.

            < You okay? >

< He just locked my psychic powers. How can I still talk? >

< He didn’t lock your telepathy. > Lugia chuckled. < He’ll kill for all our sakes, but he doesn’t kill pokemon. >

            < I guess I should be grateful for that… >
