Chapter 6

The next day, after the rain had let off, Ash took off for Celadon. Mud squished underneath his sneakers as he walked in the general direction.

“You could fly.” A helpful observer said, as Ash sank up to his ankles in mud.

Ash frowned, about to say Fly only worked if you had been to the city before, before he remembered he had gone to Celadon once or twice.

            Christmas Shopping!

“Thank you.” Ash said politely, as he squelched out of the muck, released Pidgeot, and flew off towards the city.

            The anonymous bystander left.

After landing in Celadon, Ash took a shower at the Center, before heading in the general direction of the gym.

To his surprise, the gym was… missing?

Ash rubbed his eyes. No, Celadon gym was still there. However, it seemed to waver again. An illusion?

“No! Magic doesn’t exist! I’m just seeing things.”

Ash ran towards the gym. Sure enough, it was solid under his palm. * Phew! Just seeing things again! *

Celadon was not in ruins! It wasn’t!

            Stupid dreams…

The dream he had had last night had started out well enough. He had discovered he was Grand Master of all the leagues.

            That had been cool!

            But then…

Ash shivered as he remembered the girl with long blue hair. Scary… pretty, but very scary. He didn’t even want a girlfriend!

No one in manner and form similar to her anyways! For some reason, though, he didn’t know her name. How odd.

Could it possibly have been Misty? Was that what Ashura was warning him about? Hmm… it was so odd how dreams related to each other!

            It was probably nothing though…

He should take sleeping pills if the weird dreams kept coming.

Ash walked in the door quietly.

            “I wonder where Erika is?”

There was no response from the plants that lay in neat, bordered rows. Ash grinned at his folly, and kept walking.

Soon, he was deep inside the gym, but Erika was still nowhere to be seen. Interesting… but…

Ash blinked as two people suddenly dashed passed him.

            Wait a second…

“That’s Team Rocket! Pikachu, use Thunderwave!”

Sizzling sounded as the trio was paralyzed. Erika and her attendants came running seconds later in heated pursuit.

Jessie and James really were in no position to run away.

“Thank you,” Erika smiled at Ash, as they carted Team Rocket off to the police station. “Did you want something?”

“I’d like to challenge you for a Rainbow Badge.” Ash said politely.

Erika grinned. “That I can do, just give me a few minutes.” She turned back to her conversation with the officer jenny, which nodded.

            “All right. Let’s go.”

Ash followed Erika to the dueling arena – er, pokemon battling area.

“So this is a three on three match for the Rainbow Badge.”

Ash nodded. * Fine by me! *

            “Weepinbell, I choose you!”

“In that case, I’ll use… Pidgeot!” Ash proudly displayed the bird. “Okay, Pidgeot! Give it a Wing Attack!”

The bird proudly flew over and buffeted the plant pokemon with her wings. Weepinbell went a-flying through the air.

Erika’s pleasant smile remained intact despite her feelings as she released her Tangela with an order for Wrap.

Ash winced, Wrap could take four or five turns and Pidgeot would lose HP that way, but…

            “Pidgeot, Sky Attack!”

Pidgeot glowed… and glowed. Two turns later, Wrap was over and Sky Attack took care of Tangela in one hit.

            Ash beamed and hugged Pidgeot.

            “So what now?”

“Vileplume, go and avenge your fallen teammates! Petal dance!”

“Not so fast, Pidgeot, up into the air!”

Pidgeot shot up to the roof of the gym, temporarily avoiding the petals filling the air. Unfortunately, Vileplume was unfazed and continued shooting out petals.

Ash winced. * This does not look good… *

Petals began piling up in the air, causing sneezes from the contenders. Pidgeot was starting to look rather freaked.

“Pidgeot, use Whirlwind to blow the petals away!”

Pidgeot nodded, kicking up a tornado and sucking all the petals inside before throwing them somewhere far, far away. Unfortunately, the secondary effects of whirlwind chose now to kick in.

Erika gasped as her Vileplume vanished and her Bellsprout was dragged out.

            Ash thanked his lucky stars.

Pidgeot quickly Wing Attacked the Bellsprout into fainting.

Erika sighed. “Well, you win, however unorthodox it might be.” She handed him the badge.

            “Arigato!”

After leaving, Ash pondered what to do next. He could hit Saffron for Sabrina’s badge, or take the bike path to challenge Koga in Fuchsia. However, as he didn’t have a bike, the choice was quickly made.

            “To Saffron!”

Ash quickly ran through the little bridge between Celadon and Saffron. The guard was too busy drinking lemonade to deter him.

Once in Saffron, Ash found the gym with relative ease. However, when he inquired about a gyn battle, he found out from a Channeler that Sabrina was missing!

“Why aren’t any of the gym leaders there?” Ash wondered to himself. “Um, do you know where she is then?”

“Last time I checked Sabrina was in Lavender Town.”

            “Thank you!”

Ash waved goodbye and then began walking to Lavender Town. On the way, he encountered several junior trainers, but they didn’t’ really stand a chance.

“You think I actually have a chance at Pokemon Master now Pikachu?”

Well, you have been getting better.

            “That’s sweet of you. Thanks!”
