Timeline: During the battle between Red and Giovanni in book 3 of Pokemon Special, Pokemon Special-verse

Chapter 1

Red and Aeroy crashed heavily into the ground as Giovanni’s Nidoking and Nidoqueen let off a combined Thunder attack.  He had lost… his other poke balls were already in Giovanni’s hands…

Giovanni’s smile was positively gleeful as he smiled. “Well, Red? That’s it. You’ve lost…” He broke off in surprise as the one poke ball he hadn’t collected – containing Red’s Pikachu, opened of its own accord. However, instead of staying to protect his master, the yellow rat shot off into the Viridian forest.

Red stared in disbelief. “… Why?” He asked brokenly, before his injuries made themselves known and he passed out.

“Well, then, quite a good match in the beginning, but you still have much to learn, young Red. Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll learn quickly.” With that Giovanni picked up the unconscious teen and called a nearby Team Rocket member out of hiding. Together, they drove off to Pallet Town, whereupon they took the ferry to Cinnabar Island, and there, met Blaine and Sabrina, who were waiting.

“Interesting Aerodactyl,” Giovanni commented to the fire gym trainer. “Let me guess – you revived it? I congratulate you on your scientific success.”

Blaine nodded. Yes, he had rejoined Team Rocket after the battle with Red… Sabrina quietly entered and took Red’s pokemon away to be healed, while Blaine looked over the patient.

            “Well?”

“Nothing permanent, although two thunders were a bit much, he’s been through worse from his own Pikachu, it seems…”

“Speaking of which,” Giovanni commented, “The pokemon ran away – it was the only one that did.”

            “Oh? Intriguing… I wonder why?”

            “It’s not important.”

“Perhaps not to you, but I am a pokemon behavior specialist… Red is a talented trainer, and a low degree empathic, so perhaps… the only power that would draw a pokemon away from a loving trainer would be either its mate and children… or…”

            “Or?”

            “Someone possessing the Viridian Power.”

Giovanni frowned. “Yes, yes… that is a possibility… they would have to have been quite strong though…”

“We’ll not know until later… unless you wish for me to run a search?”

“Please do.” Every few years, the viridian forest granted its powers to one child… so… there would be others, of course…

            Who was it?

Yellow, currently six years old, and her Rattata were playing fetch in her front yard when a pokemon dashed up.

“It’s a Pikachu!” Yellow exclaimed, before frowning. That pikachu looked familiar…she had seen it less than a day ago, before its owner went off to challenge the Viridian Gym Leader. “Red’s Pika?”

Pika crawled into her lap, and then passed out.

Frowning, Yellow activated her Viridian Power to heal the pokemon and read its mind. What she saw left her gaping.

No! Red had been kidnapped! But where had he been taken?

            She had to find out.

“Come on, we’ll go back to the battle site and we’ll ask some of the nearby wild pokemon…”

Blaine looked at his computer terminal. “I’m showing three matches.”

            “Three?”

“Well… one is coming from Johto, so I doubt it’s that one… another is right here in the room of course, and the third… the third is coming from Viridian Forest.”

The leader nodded. “I’ll send a team to Viridian. Jessie! James!”

            “Sir?”

“Go to Viridian Forest. There’s someone poking around the area where I battled Red. Capture him or her and bring them back.”

“Yes sir!” The two saluted, as they took off with their Meowth. They were under Koga’s command, poison specialists…

Red groaned as he slowly regained consciousness. His entire head throbbed…

< How are you feeling, Red? >

Huh? Who was talking to him?

< I’m using telepathy. Concentrate on my voice, please…. >

            Okay, it sounded nice enough…. Couldn’t hurt… * Hello? *

< How are you feeling? >

How was he feeling? * Tired… a little sore, but not really… where am I? *

< What do you remember? >

Nothing… everything had been fuzzy…. Wait, now he remembered, lightning and earth rushing to meet him * A pokemon battle… am I in the hospital? *

< Not quite, but close enough. >

            Oh. He yawned.

< Sleep now, Red… > Sabrina cut off the meaningless chatter. The boy had no mental defenses at all, so probing through his mind had been child’s play. She nodded to Giovanni as his mind flooded with Red’s memories.

So…. No wonder the boy had seemed familiar!

“I’ve seen him before, and now I know why.”

            < He’s so young. I expected… >

“We all did, Sabrina.” * and she’s only five years older than he… *

            < Your son has returned…. >

“He has the power, does he not?”

< Indeed. I did not know the Viridian Power could be passed from generation to generation. >
“It is only in special circumstances, Sabrina. Would you like to know why Red has no memories before age four?”

            She nodded politely.

< Because… he is not human, my dear…. His mother is the legendary pokemon, Houndoom… >

            < Impossible! >

< No, tis not… hence why she the legendaries never directly attacked him, despite the trouble he caused… quite amusing, is it not? >

< Then… why didn’t he stay with the organization? >

Giovanni’s eyes hardened. “Seven years ago, there was a plot to kill my heir. They succeeded in concealing him from me, but never killed him, and for that I am eternally grateful.”

Deciding not to pry any more, Sabrina excused her and left.

Nope, probably not Mirageshipping, since I like Championshipping better… aight! Warning you now! There’s mistaken incest between Ash and Lance later on. Also, probably not very nice stuff since they are in TR after all. Just telling!

Lance: …

Ash: …

Phantomness: shrug! *Runs off to do happy dance since she found her book 7 of Pokemon Special that’s been lost for two months*
