Lance: …

Ash: That would be ‘How to Catch a Star’, right?

Phantomness: Hai~!

Emerald: People actually like your fics?

Kairo and Shoyko: *attempt to stomp Emerald to death*

Phantomness: *twitches* Let me kill you slowly… I already have other muses…

Pika-chan: So I’m just a backup?

Ash = Red

Chapter 3

He felt better afterwards, and he was exceptionally glad that Lance wasn’t really… well, dead.

            Besides, it all made sense.

But now what did they have to do?

“In approximately four months, there will rise a gym leader out of Johto. He will gain the power to capture Serebii. We must stop him before then.”

            “How?”

“Well, capturing Serebii is not an option, and you can’t do time stream like me.” Lance said, petting his amulet. “So we keep our eyes peeled and go to Johto.”

            “Sounds like a plan.”

“Yes, it is the best we can do. Besides, we need both guardians for this.”

Red smiled shyly, before they linked hands and teleported.

            Johto was nice. Very nice...

They caught some more pokemon for Oak, and basically enjoyed the weather. It was very nice weather.

            … Very nice…

            It was almost boring.

He liked excitement. It was addicting, almost as good as – well, they didn’t need to know that!
Besides, Lance-chan was just too cute.

So he was an insatiable child. So what?

It wasn’t as if it were a bad thing.

He stroked the polished black, feeling the rough bird sketch under his fingers, smiling.

            Destiny.

That’s who I am, isn’t it? Very well, I’ll do my work willingly.

That’s what I’m here for after all.

The plates dangled from the crossbar as he waited.

            No change… yet.

Well, balances were very important and things needed to stay balanced, didn’t they? Didn’t they?

            Well…

That was the way things were, right?

Well, plus there were benefits! And that was good

            BENEFITS!!!

Lance was fishing… Hmm, he seemed to like the boring sport.

            Still…

Lance raised an eyebrow as Ash embraced him from behind, nails digging slightly into his shoulders.

            “Impatient little one, aren’t you?”

“So?” Ash whispered as he kissed Lance’s neck.

Lance put down the fishing pole. “I see.”

Ash toppled backwards onto the bank as Lance kissed him fiercely.

            < Kawaii little one… >

Well, it wasn’t too hard to figure out what happened afterwards…

“Do you two do anything besides screw each other senseless?”

“That’s not nice, Moltres-san.” Ash said.

            Moltres chuckled. “Just wondering.

She was in human form, black hair and red eyes – she _could_ pass for his older sister.

“So, how are things going between you and Zapdos?”

“Oh, same old. Had another batch of chicks, but I love them still.”

            “That’s nice.”

“And you say ‘we’re’ the ones acting up?” Lance chided, mock-reproachfully.

            Moltres chuckled and shrugged.

They had noodles at a roadside stand for dinner together, before Moltres left, homeward bound.

“She does have a point though, you _are_ an insatiable child.”

            “So?”

Lance grinned. “I don’t care, but do try to keep your mind on our mission, could you?”

            “H-hai!”

They watched it snow in the Blackthorn Mountains just in case trouble brewed in Dragon’s Den.

They could crash with Claire too, if needed.

            “Snow… Ice… rhymes with Pryce…”

“It’s possible, he was troublesome once.”

“That’s true, but only once, unlike… them.”

“Ah, well, those are just pitfalls that come with the perks and reincarnation.”

Ash inclined his head in assent.

            He watched the dragons fly.

            Fliers are pretty, very pretty…

            I like flying.

Flying is something only Chosen can do though, and I guess it does cancel out some of the more unpleasant things…

            Yes…

            So it is equivalent trade.

We shouldn’t ask for too much after all…
