Chapter 2

            Ash was not happy.

Two rocket grunts he kind of recognized had stolen all of his pokémon and now he was stuck in Team Rocket headquarters, in a cell the size of a small bedroom, sulking.

            No, Ash was not happy.

            “Let me out!”

“The trick you used on Jessie and James most certainly won’t work on me.” The guard said. He had blondish hair, and it took Ash a minute to place him. “MORTY?!”

The former ghost gym leader shrugged. “Who am I to rally against fate? I’d rather not die – even if I’m a ghost master, I don’t have the perverse attraction to death that Agatha had.”

            “Huh?”

            “Never mind. I can’t hear you…”

About half an hour later, Giovanni came inside. “Ah, it’s wonderful to see you again, son.”

            “Son?” Ash blinked uncomprehendingly.

“Yes, of course! You’re my son, Ash…didn’t you know that? Surely your mother told you about me?”

“…Dad?” He did have a few blurry memories of a man with dark hair and a Persian… “Dad!”

“Let him out.” Morty shrugged as the lock slid open and door opened on its own. Ash ran out and threw himself into his father’s arms with a smile.

            Perfect…

            “It’s a good team.”

“Even the weakest pokemon, if utilized properly, can be quite useful.” Lance replied; feeding poke treats to her Gloom.

“Why were you disguised as a male, though?”

A harsh bark of laughter. “I didn’t want men forcing their attentions on me – well, it happened anyways, didn’t it?”

            “Woah, woah!”

“Why sugarcoat the truth? You said I was a good lay.” Lance replied with a twisted smirk. “I wouldn’t know. Why? Did you want to make out now?”

            Tyson twitched. “No.”

The blankness in her eyes was unnerving him. It was like sleeping with a corpse. She didn’t fight – well, not after the first few times when they broke her limbs – but she wasn’t willing, either.

Lance nodded and continued her pokemon care.

Giovanni had been a rather sick bastard though, he’d taken her first, thinking it was a great thing to break the champion like that, and then he had given a Tyson a turn, and there had been a few times when they’d both… but at least there was one thing.

She didn’t have to sleep with pokemon.

They’d tried – oh, they’d tried, wanting to find out what happened if you crossed human with pokemon, but the pokemon wouldn’t – not even under hypnosis, they wouldn’t touch her. That was nice.

So they had given up on that.

            “Lance.”

She stood up respectfully, as did Tyson, when Giovanni entered. “Yes, boss?”

            “You know the security passwords?”

            A nod.

“Undo them. If what you say is true, then we will not have to fight in this region much longer…”

Lance followed Giovanni into League Headquarters – the guards were all Rockets in disguise, and let them pass. They entered the room where the Hall of Fame was recorded and where Bruno was dead drunk, slumped over the Master computer.

She shoved him off with a glare, and placed her hands against the screen. There really was no password, it was a DNA and voice activation sequence… for several moments, the screen remained blank, before it turned on with a bright flash, causing all to shield their eyes.

            “Welcome, Lance.”

            “Initiate Code Forty-Seven B Eighty-Nine C Three-Eleven F Nine E Six A One Twenty-Two Fifty-Seven Five Z N Twelve.”

            “Please wait…”

After several moments, the computer whirred again. “Lockdown complete. Awaiting further instruction.”

            “Initiate Transfer Code Three-Nine-Twelve K Forty-One J Shroomish T H Seven-Eighteen Dragonair Twelve A Cloyster Thirteen Seven L A L Gengar Eleven-ninety.”

“Transferring… Activating Scan System for further validation.”

“Transfer Complete. Pokemon Transferred to – Viridian City Gym – Mahogany City Gym – Saffron City Gym – Ecruteak City Gym. Transfer Complete.”

“Initiate System Restore One day previous. Transmission completed.”

Lance gave Giovanni a smirk. “All done.”

            “So how does it work?”

“Sell your soul to the computer, and it will obey you.” Lance laughed. “Agatha knew how to operate it too, but she’s gone now… by the way, Giovanni, have you heard of the Snag Ball?”
            “The what?”

“In the Orre region – I was there for a day or two, investigating if it would be suitable to set up a gym system there… well, they have this team, Team Snagem, that might be useful to ally with…”

“I’ll look into it. Thank you.”

            “Tis nothing, Boss.”

“So polite. I remember how you fought when we first brought you in. But you’ve learned your lesson well…”

            “Yes, Boss.”

“Almost too well… you’re like a little doll. That’s too bad. I don’t like mechanical people.” Giovanni shrugged. “I suppose, since you’ve done us this wonderful favor, you can have first pick of the pokemon that come in. How does that sound?”

            “Thank you, Boss.”

            Giovanni sighed. “Let’s go home.”
