Chapter 2

Red shook his head. "Where are we?"

"I have no idea." Lance said honestly. "It looks like we're in a forest somewhere."

"Lance-chan?”

"Hmm…" Lance said, casting a basic detect magic spell. "It doesn't seem dangerous."

"Lance!"

"What?" Lance asked, grinning at Red.

"I'm going to need some clothes..."

"Oh. Right." The Dragon Master said. "Um... well, you can have my cape for now..." He took it off, handing it to Red. "We can probably buy some pants somewhere..."

Red shivered slightly as he wrapped himself in the dark fabric. "Yeah, right. You are just enjoying the view aren't you?"

Lance smirked.

"I wonder where we are?" Red asked again.

Lance released his Aerodactyl, who flew around from a few minutes. He frowned. "Ptera says it looks like we're near Blackthorn City."

"But weren't we just in Pallet?" Red asked as he pulled the cape around his shoulders.

"Yes, so... hmm. I wonder what happened."

"I wish I had my pokemon... Did you manage to grab my poke belt too?"

"A bit better than that." He said dryly, before he pulled Red's backpack out of ... somewhere. Pity.

"Yatta! Thank you Lance-chan!" Red gave Lance a kiss on the cheek before diving into his backpack, he found Pika sleeping, his pokemon belt, a spare change of clothes, and the rest of his pokeballs.

"No problem." The Ice Guardian said, wishing that they hadn't been interrupted earlier. He was still frustrated.

Red went behind a tree and changed. "I'm so lucky. I love you, Lance-chan!"

He came out a second later and gave the Dragon Master a kiss.

Lance kissed back, deciding that they should figure out what was going on first. He sighed. "Let's head to Blackthorn, then."

Red nodded. They got on their flying pokemon and flew to Blackthorn.

Meanwhile…

Ash grinned when he saw Wataru waiting for them.

"It's been a while since I saw you, Ash, Misty, Brock." Wataru said.

Ash had to stop himself from hugging the older trainer.

“We, especially Ash and I missed you as well." Misty replied.

"Yes," said Ash. "It's good to see you again!"

Wataru smiled. "Yes... are you here for the annual Dragon Festival? It lasts for five days and we wear masquerade clothes. Quite fun, really."

"I've missed going to the festival!" said Ash. "It was always so fun going with you and Clair."

"What's the Dragon Festival?" Brock asked.

Wataru narrowed his eyes. "Just a traditional festival we have in Blackthorn every year. There's lots of games, and dancing..."

Ash nodded. "It's a lot of fun." He noticed Wataru's look. "What is it?"

"If I'm talking to you here..." Wataru said slowly, "Who's that on the Aerodactyl?"

Ash looked up. "I don't know... but it looks like there are two people up there..."

"... You know, that kid on the ground kind of looks like you." Lance narrowed his eyes.

Misty gasped. "That looks like your Aerodactyl, Wataru..."

Ash dropped his 'stupid trainer act'.

"That can't be..." Wataru said.

".... You know, that guy in the cape looks a little like you." Red told Lance.

"Red, please, I wouldn't dye my hair pink..."

Ash glared up at the two on the Aerodactyl.

"We'd better figure out what's going on." Wataru said, and released his Dragonite.

Lance hissed, and was about to call his Ice Blade when Red put a hand on his arm.

Red pulled a poke ball from his belt. "Aeroy!"

Ash gasped.

"That person... really does look like you." Misty said shakily.

"Dragonite, Thunderwave!" Wataru called. Who was this imposter?

Red glared. "Aeroy, Supersonic!"

The lightning and the waves from the two flying pokemon collided. Lance jumped down onto the ground as Red followed, eyes narrowing. "Who are you?" The Ice Guardian hissed, feeling his silversteel wings emerged from his back.

Ash stared at the others. Up close, he and this other person... could be twins!

Ash ran to Wataru's side. "We could ask you the same thing!" Ash retorted.

"Who are you?" Misty asked walking past Ash so she could protect him if needed.

"Lance Dragyn." Lance said, as Red nodded.

Misty glared. "And who is your companion?"

"Red, from Pallet Town." Red snapped. That girl looked like Misty, except her hair was shorter and she was definitely not as pretty.

Wataru frowned. "You aren't human." He said, matter-of-factly.

"You're right about that!" Misty snapped.

Ash blinked. "If you're not human, what are you?"

"You're right," said Red "We're not human. We are part pokemon."

"Hm." Wataru said, narrowing his eyes. So they were like... him and the others?

Ash looked up at Wataru. "They're part pokémon? Are they like us then?"

"I'm not sure." Wataru said stiffly.

Brock was very confused by now.

Ash nodded. "Who are they?"

"Excuse me?" Lance asked. "If you're all finished discussing our situation amongst yourselves..."

Misty snarled. "Leave the Dragon Master and Dragon's Child alone!"

"Wow, you're temperamental." Red narrowed his eyes. "Dragon's Child?"

"... Interesting." Lance mused, his eyes changing to blue.

Misty's eyes changed to red.

Ash looked worried. "Misty, please calm down."

Red put a hand on Lance's shoulder. "They're dragons, Lance, I think. You don't want to hurt dragons, right?"

Lance blinked and looked at Red. "They can't be dragons, Red..."

"And when are you such an authority?" Wataru demanded.

"I am the Dragon Master." Lance said simply.

"You’re wrong." said Ash.

Lance's eyes flashed angrily. "There's your proof, Red."

Brock hid behind a bush, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire.

Ash backed away and suddenly he was changing.

Red narrowed his eyes.

Lance summoned his staff in one smooth movement, the wingtips and moon flashing. "This is going to get messy, Red." He warned.

Misty growled, as scales began to cover her skin. "I'll take you down, you arrogant imposter!"

Wataru closed his eyes and began to change too.

Red gasped when he saw his look-a-like.

"Guess there's no point in negotiating, Red! Call your Chosen!" Lance commanded. He tossed three cards into the air. "Articuno! Lugia! Suicune! I summon thee!"

Misty's transformation into a Gyarados finalized, and she charged forwards... She had to protect the Child!

Red was frozen. Ash had changed into a Lugia! "Lance! Look!"

"What the," The red-haired man spluttered, the card spirits appearing next to him. "That's impossible..."

The Lugia hid behind a Rayquaza.

"But we should be the only legendary children, with Charlotte..."

Red took one step forward cautiously towards the two legendary pokemon.

Wataru lashed his tail. Why are you here? He growled.

"We don't know."

You don't belong here. Ash said, frowning.

You must stay away from them, Child. Said the Gyarados.

Why Misty? Asked Ash.

You are not a dragon like him. Your presence will make him more human. Wataru hissed.

Red felt somewhat insulted

Lance settled his wings with a contemplative expression.

"I am not human!" Red complained. "I'm insulted!"

Then prove it. Wataru muttered.

Lance looked at Red, before white scales began to shimmer over his skin, resolving in a slender silvery-white dragon with sharp-edged wings.

"Fine then! I will!" Red whispered something and the only thing they could make out was, "Reveal to me my Destiny."

Lance smirked as Red began to glow. White feathers erupted from his hairline, as two pairs of feathered wings swept from his back. The first pair was bright gold, but the second pair was black as night. Golden armor covered with mystical pokemon symbols appeared over his chest, arms, and legs, but his thighs became black-feathered and led down to sharp golden talons instead of feet.

What is he doing? Ash asked poking his head out from behind Wataru to look. That's cool...

A bird? Misty frowned.

Ash shrugged. < What do you think, Wataru? >

Red opened his eyes and held out his hands as his staff appeared. He frowned.

< I'm not sure. > Wataru gasped. < He suddenly seems very powerful... >

Ash came out from behind Wataru to get a better look at this new, strange bird.

< Happy now? > Red snapped in telepathy.

Ash backed away slightly scared.

What kind of pokemon are you? Wataru asked.

Lance padded up to Red and curled around him, crooning.

Red smiled. I am the youngest legendary, Destiny. He began scratching behind one of Lance's ears.

I see. Wataru sounded miffed. But why are you here? And what is he?

As I said, we don't know how we got here. Lance-chan here is the Ice Guardian and I'm the Thunder Guardian.

Sounds kind of like what happened in the Orange Islands... Ash said

Wataru nodded.

Lance yawned, his Card pokemon fading back into the Dream Realm now that they were no longer necessary. Misty gaped.

What were those? She asked.

Cards.

C-Cards? Misty murmured when Lance answered. But they were pokemon!

Duh. Red looked at her as if she was stupid.

Are we quite finished with the staring contest? Lance asked as he nuzzled into Red's hand.

Hai~! Lance-chan.

The Lugia landed and changed back into a human form.

Ash smiled. "Now can we go to the Dragon Festival, Wataru? Please?"

Ash glanced up at the Rayquaza.

Ash walked up to the Dragon pokemon. "WATARU!"

The Rayquaza frowned, before turning back into Wataru. Misty quickly followed her Leader's example.

“Now..." Lance said, purring, "We just need to get rid of that spy there." He pointed at Brock's bush as his eyes flashed blue. "Amnesia Wave."

Misty watched with hard eyes. "What did you do that for?"

"Did you want him to remember you were a dragon?"

"Misty... it is better if he forgets. " Ash turned to Wataru. "I wonder if our Fathers are going to be here this year?"

"I hope so." Wataru said. Hopefully they'd know what was going on.

Lance stifled a yawn. "Do you have a hotel around here by any chance?"

Ash looked at the two Guardians. "Yeah, there’s one that gives out free rooms for the Festival."

"Thanks." Lance said, after he had gotten the address from the helpful Pallet trainer. After he and Red had walked away, Brock blinked, wondering why he was in a bush. The last thing he remembered was Wataru talking about some festival. Maybe he'd meet some cute girls there! And if they were going to wear masks, he could hit on Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny all he wanted!

"Wataru..."

"Yes, Ash?" Wataru asked, looking at him.

"I really miss being home..."

Wataru hugged Ash, seeing as Brock was still daydreaming. "I know. I guess we'll just enjoy this Festival together while we can..."

Ash nodded and skipped the rest of the way to Blackthorn.

No smut in this chapter *laugh* Just some confrontations… guess our fanon pairs didn’t hit off too well at first. Well, you know what they say, how people don’t like other people exactly like them or something… you are your own worst enemy!
