Another chapter…

Disclaimer: I don’t own pokemon. I do however own this non-profit, non-copyright infringing fanfiction written by me… ahahaha…. Anyways, Nintendo owns pokemon. So do Satoshi Tajiri and Shogakukan Comics. Do not take my work.

Chapter 2

            “Lance, we need to talk.”

            “Hai, Ashura.”

Lance smoothed down his armor a bit self-consciously as he sat down across from Ashura. In the two years the magician had been in Wichita, his power had grown considerably.

Lance’s magic was of a different type. While Ash could create his own magic, Lance drew from the moonlight and the night.

            Interesting…

Well, he was also a warrior, which was why he wore the armor.

Ash looked uncomfortable. “I need your help.”

            “What for?”

“Could you help me brew a Memory Potion? That isn’t my strong forte.”

            “Certainly.” Lance said, surprised.

Three days later, it was done. Ash waited until midnight before drinking it, managing to stagger to his bed before the full storm hit.

Well… his head ached still in the mornings.

Lance brought him broth and herbs.

            That was nice…

The memory potion was working though, slowly but surely. Some of the thoughts and images were foreign, but not unpleasant.

            It was interesting…

Well, he liked magic, and magic he could handle, since all the creatures he summoned forth from the cards were pokemon… so that was good.

            It was nice.

He spent about three days in a trance, almost 24 hours each, before the old king needed him, so he took painkillers and went to serve, being the noble wizard he was.

It was all right, he supposed.

Princess Lydia had a crush on him.

            That was nothing new…

The problem was when she actually decided to do something about it, which wasn’t a good idea.

He had been practicing summoning in secret. The court didn’t require anything fancy, but he was building up his magic.

That way, he could summon… the harder, higher-level pokemon.

He sighed in relief as Charizard faded away.

            “Ashura!”

“Welcome, Princess Lydia.” She was the youngest one…

Pika-chan threw the girl a dirty look from behind a glass of lemonade. < You’re doing well, Ash, although I don’t know why you’re practicing. >

< I think the bump on the head had amnesia. >

            < Makes sense. >

Lydia smiled cutely. “Want to have dinner with me tonight?”

“Princess, I eat with the court nightly.”

            ‘No! Just me!”
“Would your father not think it improper?”

Lydia stamped her foot. “Oh, you! Can’t a girl have some fun?”

Not if it gets me in trouble… Ash muttered in pokespeech, earning a smile from Pika-chan.

“Let us inquire of your father.”

            “No! No!”

She grabbed his arm tightly and tried to drag him away.

Lance watched in amusement as he polished his sword. * That poor child… *

There was a slight flip of a hand before Luna, winged Espeon, and Dragonair-chan, his two guardians, appeared.

            So, what’s going on now?

“Oh, same old… in a sense.”

This is an illusion world, right?

            “Not precisely…”

You mean to say this is real?

“This is certainly the only reality he has left.”

            I can’t believe it!

            “Well, life is quite unpredictable…”

< Will you tell him? >

< Most likely not, I’ll just… nudge him in the right direction. >

Dragonair-chan laughed. * He’ll fall surely, soon enough, if that’s the case, Master Lance... *

She curled back up and decided on another nap.

Espeon helped herself to some of the fresh fruit in the room.

            “Please, princess!”

“Nonsense! Why won’t you marry me?”

“I can’t marry you yet, you’re only thirteen!”

“So? You’re only one year older than me.”

            “But we’re too young!”
            “Then become my betrothed.”

“I cannot! Princess, your father wishes you to marry Prince Jason of Cairn. Why do you persist in pursing me?”

            “Because I love you!”

            “But…”

“Here it comes.” Lance said, before hiding his binoculars.

Lydia began to sob, loudly and with heart-breaking clarity.

            “Princess!”

“If you won’t marry me, I won’t marry anyone!” She cried dramatically, before attempting to stab herself with a diamond-encrusted hairpin.

Ash reacted before thinking and hit her with a Hypnosis attack, putting her to sleep.

            “Good work!” Pika-chan approved.

“What’s wrong with her?” Ash muttered undertone.

            < No idea… >

“Well, hold on…” He summoned Haunter and Gastly, and they began erasing all traces of her love with Dream Eater.

Maybe now he’d have some more peace and quiet.
