I suppose the fics I write indicate my mood. Of course, as I write angst all the time, I either live in a state of continual depression or I’m incapable of writing fluff…

Chapter 7

They weren’t sure how much time had passed. Neither of them really lived, just kept up the façade of living. Ash spent a lot of the time in the library, reading fairytales and staying far, far away from reality…

            I’m so tired…

            Why can’t I die?

It wasn’t as if he hadn’t tried, but since ghost pokémon were already dead, you couldn’t die again, whatever that meant?

There was something else too. He’d gotten a vision of brilliant golden light but that was all….

            Charlotte sighed.

She was living on borrowed time, and Lance was being a stubborn git and wouldn’t let Crystal out.

Then again, that monster Giovanni had created really could pack a punch…

The Champion stood up, wiping a trail of blood from her mouth. Giovanni stared.

“I don’t die that easily, unless I choose to, bastard, and I don’t choose to do so now! Flames of Rage!”
The monster screamed as it was subjected to heat going supernova – certainly more than any human or normal pokémon could have stood.

            Charlotte smirked. “Heaven’s Fury!”

This time it was white lightning, light lightning… lightning that no normal human could wield…

Charlotte braced herself as the Monster spat acid at her, but she wasn’t going down so easily – and besides, poison was fire!
            So there!

Her eyes glowed brightly as she focused her power. It was a waste of life, but they all had their parts to play…

            “Eternal Flame…”

Her body burst into flames as the attack finished. That was all they could do, after all… they all had parts to play and rules to live by and power was exchanged for life but whatever worked in this realm, so be it!

Besides, now Giovanni wouldn’t have any guardian DNA to work with. It was dangerous in the wrong hands, although it technically shouldn’t work.

            But nothing was safe anymore…

Nothing was sure anymore, in a world of chaos…

Ash winced, his heart suddenly hurt all of a sudden. Why? What was going on?

It wasn’t as if anything bad had happened…

“Cosmos Champion Charlotte Starr died today of unknown causes, so now, Selena Moon, of the Pluto Gym, shall become the New Champion…”

“It has already begun.” Karen said. “Now Fire and Ice have both fallen, and unless he wakes, we are all doomed…”

Ash didn’t have much time to react before black wings surrounded him and he transformed.

“Karen! What happened to the two of them?”

“Died facing Giovanni’s newest monster, Destiny.”

The legendary bird hissed angrily. “Those two…!”

“They did it for you, you know.”

“I know, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it!” He fumed. “Might as well get to business then…”

            “ETERNAL THUNDER!!!!”

            It was quite fast.

Karen looked at Destiny as he finished his duty. “Now what?”

The winged boy shrugged. “I can’t go into sleep of death yet, unfortunately, so I guess I’ll hang around with you.”

            Karen raised an eyebrow.

“Besides, it’s not like I’m cheating on her if she’s dead…and hopefully Will won’t try to kill me… and er, we don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to…”

            “You’ve thought this out.”

“Had plenty of time to while the idiot was in control…”

            “So.”

            “So.”

“I suppose we could give it a chance.”

“Would make living until the next life less boring, ne?”

            Karen smirked. “Yes.”

            They kissed
