Chapter 2


?? POV

I was crouching down in my basement in fear. There were tons of loud noises 
outside 

that sounded awful to my ears, so I ran and hid out of fear.

 “Why am I such a chicken?” I mumbled to myself. “I gotta get a grip!”

I slowly inched my way to the door when suddenly,

the noise stopped.

I quickly opened the door and froze.

My house was in ruins.

I looked through. There were no signs of my family. Tears welled in my eyes 
as I 

walked away, hoping to find some help. I was thankful we lived near the 
beach. I 

always felt better by walking along the shore, finding shells of all kinds 
and 

playing in the sand barefooted. However, that comfort was gone. I gasped when 
I 

arrived. The ocean had dried up. The sand was now dry, and all the water had 
dried 

up. I felt more tears come to my eyes. I quickly wiped them away.

 “What happened? Everyone and everything I loved is now gone...” I sobbed.

I turned around and found that all of Panama City was destroyed. All the 
buildings 

were torn and not a soul was to be found. It was almost like a ghost town.

 “Now what?” I wondered.

I sat at where the shoreline once was, looking out at the sea of sand. What 
could I 

do now? Was I the last human on earth? I suddenly heard a voice.

 “Almaddoooo...”*

I quickly got up and whirled around to find a giant armadillo looking thing 
with 

big bug eyes and a bunch of tiny yellow wings.

 “Maldo!” it suddenly roared. It then started charging at me!

 “Eeeeep!” I screamed, running as fast as I could into the dried ocean. It 
started 

chasing me, apparently trying to make a meal outta me! It started running 
faster,

it was catching up!

 “Help!” I screamed, hoping someone was nearby. Lucky for me, someone was.

I heard another cry similar to the one that was chasing me up in the air. I 
looked 

up, still running, and I was surprised at what I saw. It was a enormous 
silver bird 

with blue markings* flying in the air, carrying three people on it.

 “Hop on!” I heard it say as it flew closer to me. I nodded and jumped on, 
the 

people already on it helping me up. It then soared into the sky, carrying me 
to 

safety. I glanced down to see that thing staring up in amazement. I laughed 
at the 

puzzled look on its face as we flew higher. It was eventually out of sight. I 

turned to the others. There were one teenage boy, and apparently, his 
parents.

 “You okay?” the man asked. I nodded.

 “Hey, dad? What just happened?” the boy behind him asked. So that guy was 
his dad.

 “Didn't you just see what happened?” I asked.

He shook his head. “I couldn't have if I wanted to.”

I cocked my head, confused. I felt a pang in my stomach. He just stared with 
a 

blank expression.

 “I'm sorry,” the lady apologized. “He's blind.”

I suddenly felt pity for him, not being able to see.

 “I'm so sorry.” I told him.

He shook his head. “Its fine. I'll get used to it.” he smiled at me. “By the 
way, 

who are you?”

 “Oh, I'm Amber,” I introduced.

 “Well, I'm Trace, and these are my parents.” he motioned in the wrong 
direction of 

where they were.

 “Well, I'm Kathryn,” his mom said.

 “And I'm Joseph,” his dad told me.

We didn't get to visit much. Something was coming.

 “You four had better hold on!” it suddenly told us, and just as quickly as 
it had 

said it, we were attacked! Three birds, one yellow with fire*, one yellow 
with 

lightning*, and another blue with ice*, circled us and sent its attacks on 
us!

The bird we were on couldn't take it, and quickly fell with crash.

 “Run!” Joseph ordered, running as he led Trace away. While they and Kathryn 

started running, I looked back at the bird. I looked in amazement to watch it 
glow, 

and be replaced with a girl who looked younger then me. Those birds then 
suddenly 

swooped down on the girl and tried to grab her! 
    
 “Leave her alone!” I yelled, running towards her. I, without even thinking, 
ran up 

and grabbed her. I shielded her from their attacks. When they were back in 
the sky, 

I picked her up and ran back to the others, hoping she was okay.



 *means this was different in the original. In this case, Almado was a 
stegosaurus, lugia was a European dragon, articuno was a bird made of ice, 
zapdos 
was a bird made out of lighning, and moltres was a giant pheonix. By the way, 
I'm introducing each character in their POV (point of view) so thats why I 
have 
a different amount of question marks, so you can tell them apart. I will have
