RESIDENT EVIL – CHAPTER 2: REUNION DEATH IS ONLY THE BEGINNING… Ash Ketchum slowly awoke from his sleep. He rubbed his eyes then glanced at the digital clock next to his bed. The clock read six o'clock am. Ash pulled the covers off of himself. He slowly put his feet down on the Berber carpet. He stood up and slowly made his way to the bathroom. As he walked back out and into the bedroom he looked in the mirror. His reflection revealed a tall nineteen years old. Still he had spiky jet-black hair but he had no hat top cover his hair with. The Pokemon League hat he used to wear was set on a mantle above his trophies that bordered the ceiling of his room. He hung his favorite hat up because over the years it got to small for him to wear. Now he had a larger Pokemon League hat that a fan had given him. Ash waited two minutes to get on his clothes. He opened up the oak doors of his armoire. Inside he pulled out a black t-shirt, pair of blue jeans, his Pokemon League hat, white and black sneakers, his blue and white jacket, and his green fingerless gloves. He made his way down to the large kitchen where Benjamin was waiting for him with his favorite cereal, Recess Puffs. "Good morning Master Ketchum." "Ben, I thought we cleared this up. You can just call me Ash, none of that Master stuff." "Sorry sir." "Huh?" "Ash." "Thank you." "Here is your breakfast sir." He handed Ash the silver platter with his bowl of cereal, a glass of orange juice, toast, and a copy of the 'Poke Press' "Thanks Ben." Ash turned away and walked to a small table situated next to a window. Ash pulled the paper off and set it aside so he could read it as he ate. After a few minutes, Ash had finally made his way to the paper. He dropped his spoon on the floor and dropped his glass making it shatter on the hard wood floor. "BEN!" "Something wrong Ash?" he ran in as fast as he could. He slid into a counter island as he blasted through the door. "Did you read the paper?" Ash asked him with a shocked look on his face. "No. Is something wrong?" "Yeah, Cerulean City lost a good gym leader." "I beg your pardon?" "Misty. She disappeared last night. Along with Brock, Tracey, and Richie." Ash looked at the pictures of his friends. Tracey, Brock, and Richie all looked almost the exact same only five years older, but Misty's picture…her hair hung below her shoulders. She was giving the camera a sexy smile. "She's still beautiful." Ash handed the paper over to Ben as he approached the table. "Yes she is. It says here that investigators assume that they were all kidnapped in the middle of the night." "I hope they are all okay. I just wish that I could've had them over. Why couldn't I?" "I don't know sir." "It's pretty stupid that I can't have my friends over, or I can't even leave Indigo Plateau unless I have an official battle." "Yes, it is stupid. Oh dear, another dark, gloomy, rainy day." "Great. So what do you want to-" Ash was cut off when the crashing of dishes echoed through the kitchen. "What the devil was that?" Ben asked "I don't know." "I'll go check it out." "Okay." Ash continued reading his paper. The picture of Misty never left his mind. He couldn't believe how much more beautiful she had become. He wondered what she had been up to, but now he knew. His best friend, his first girlfriend had been kidnapped in the middle of the night. "AHHH! Bloody He-" his voice stopped as another crashing sound echoed through the kitchen. "Ben?" Ash stood up and walked through the swinging door to where he had heard Ben walk through. At the far end of the hall stood a pile of broken dishes. He ran to the pile and looked around. Down the hall to his left Ash saw something, a person. The mysterious person was kneeling over what Ash assumed was Ben. "Hey!" Ash ran up to the person and stood behind it. He saw that it had its head down to Ben. "Oh my God." Ash whispered, unable to scream the words. The person stood up and turned around. He had blood all over his mouth and chest. Ash jumped back when he saw Ben. The person had eaten Ben's throat, there was nothing left. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU!?" Ash stepped back and picked up a vase that sat on an end table. He slammed it on the person's head but he did not fall down. "OH SHIT!" Ash turned around and was met with another person that lunged itself towards Ash's neck. Before the person could get their Ash grabbed his shoulders and pushed him down onto the floor. He quickly ran down the hall and into the kitchen. He turned towards the steps to go to his bedroom. To his right where the table was stood another person. He also lunged himself towards Ash but he quickly rolled out of the way. Once he knew he was clear he stood up. To his left was a rack of cutting knives. He grabbed the one with the smallest handle and pulled it out. "Don't make me use this!" he shouted to the person, but he still walked towards Ash. "FINE!" he stabbed the person in the chest. "Yeah, you lose!" But the person continued walking towards him. "WHAT THE HELL!" he reached for the knives again but this time, he pulled out the butcher knife and the second largest knife. "NOW BACK OFF!" But again the person did not listen and now the others were walking into the kitchen. "SCREW THIS!" Ash ran out of the kitchen and up the stairs to his bedroom. Once he got in he slammed the door behind him. He ran into his walk in closet and shut the door. For several hours he sat in the closet, not speaking, lightly breathing. A few more hours had passed. Ash was suddenly awakened when a loud thud forced his eyes open. He slowly opened the closet door and looked at the door leading to the hallway. Someone was banging on it trying to get it open. Ash went back into the closet and shut the door behind him, hoping that the person would not get in. 'Why did I have to take all of my Pokemon to the Pokemon Center? Just because I was having Giselle come over. Where did she go anyway? I hope she didn't get caught by one of those guys. That's just my luck, I have a girl spend the night with me and she leaves before I wake up-' "WHAT THE HELL!" downstairs Ash heard an automatic gunfire. He heard about twenty shots come from what he thought was perhaps the kitchen. "God, now they have guns." He whispered. Another loud thud made him jump in the dark closet. It sounded like the door had been opened up. Outside the closet Ash heard several footsteps. A bizarre sound flowed through the closet, it was moaning. About five different voices were moaning just outside the closet door. 'That sounded like Giselle and me last night.' Then the doorknob began to shake. Someone was moving it, trying to get him. 'shit.' The door flew open and Ash saw five people standing in the doorway. The second person was missing the right side of his face, while the one in front was missing his throat. "OH SHIT!" Ash covered himself as the five people lunged at him. But then there was a loud gunshot. Ash looked up and saw one of the people missing their head. There was another gunshot; the head of the other person blew off. The other three turned around to the doorway to the bedroom. They walked away from Ash and to the person who was wearing a black military outfit. "Yeah, that's right. Bring your asses over here. WHAT THE HELL! GUYS, THESE THINGS ARE FREAKS!" the mysterious person's voice sounded very familiar to Ash. He stood himself up and poked his head out of the closet. He saw the three people walked slowly over to the other person. As they neared her she pulled out two Super P8s. She unloaded both clips on the three. They would not fall down. "WHAT THE FUCK!" she quickly reloaded her pistols and looked back at the people. Two were just inches from her. "SHIT!" she thought it was her end but then the two fell to the ground. In their backs were the two knives. "Thanks. DUCK!" as Ash ducked she pointed the pistols at the one person who was approaching her. She pointed the pistols at his head and fires. The person fell to the ground with a thud. "Bastard. You okay?" she asked Ash "Yeah, I'm fine. Who the hell were they?" "I don't think I would say who. I would say what. But I don't know." She replied "Are you okay? Did you find him?" asked another mysterious person in black military fatigue. "We're fine, and yes, I found him." "Are you going to kill me?" Ash asked "No, we're here to help. You look good." She said through her mask "What?" she brushed past Ash and knelt down next to the dead people/creatures. The other soldiers were looking around at Ash's room. The one who spoke before looked at the bed. "Hey." "Me?" Ash pointed to himself and asked "Yes you. Did you have a girl here last night?" asked the man through the mask that muffled his voice a little. "Why do you think so?" Ash asked "Because the bed's all messed up. And unless you wear earrings." The man walked over to the end table and picked up a pair of purple earrings. "Okay so I did. I had my girlfriend Giselle over." "Oh shit." The man replied as he looked at the soldier who was examining the dead person/creature. "Now can you tell me who you are?" "Certainly." The man grabbed the bottom of his mask and pulled it off. "Tracey?!" "Hey Ash." "Who are the others?" The other two men pulled off their masks as well. "Brock?! Richie?! But you three mysteriously disappeared last night Misty did too." "We didn't disappear. Something serious has happened. Once we found out we were dispatched here to save you." Richie said as he threw his mask on the bed. "So Ash, was she good?" "Oh yeah!" "How long did it last?" "About twenty minutes." "Good time." "SHUT UP RICHIE!" Tracey punched Richie right in the gut as hard as he could. "Ow!" Richie screamed in a very high-pitched screech. "So, do you guys know what happened to Misty?" "We know." Brock said looking down at the floor. "What happened to her?" Ash sat on the bed waiting for a reply from the three. All he got from them was a group glance at the other soldier who was knelt next to the dead people/creature. Only she wasn't looking at them anymore, but she was looking at the blue wall. "What?" Ash looked back at the three. "What happened to her?" "Ash, I would like you to meet our commander. Commander Misty Waterflower." "What!?" "She dispatched us once she was alerted that the mansion was under attack." Tracey stated as he looked at Misty who still had her mask on. "Misty?" The masked soldier grabbed the bottom of her mask. She slowly pulled it up, letting her orange hair fall to her shoulders. She slowly turned around and looked at Ash. She was doing the same thing that she had done when he first left. She was crying. "Misty, why are you crying?" Ash asked her as he stood up from the bed. She only nudged her head towards the bed and looked back down at the floor. "Don't any of you people talk anymore?" "Ash! You know you have turned into a real jerk!" "Tracey? What are you talking about?" "Are you cheating on Giselle too?" "No!" "Well why did you cheat on Misty?! You told her she would be the only one that you would ever love. You told her you wanted to live your life with only her! Why did you cheat on her?" "I don't know." He replied softly "Do you know that I haven't gone on a single date in my entire life. You are the only boy I've ever kissed. My life has been pathetic. There have been tons of guys I wanted to go out with, to kiss, and even get laid by. But I promised you that I would only love you. I wish I'd broken the promise myself." Misty stood up and walked to the doors to leave. Once she opened the door another person/creature reached its arms out to grab Misty. She grabbed his neck and snapped it to the right. "Misty wait!" "Save it Ash! I can't believe anything you say! I can't believe I cried my eyes out for this." "What, Tracey, say something!" Ash demanded "Okay, we shouldn't have come to rescue you. You know we weren't even supposed to come. Misty took the assignment from another team. I don't think we should've come, or anyone else for that matter." "Let's go guys!" Misty yelled from the bottom of the steps in the kitchen. "Coming!" the three holstered their pistols and walked down the steps to where Misty was. "Where's Ash?" she asked them "Up in his room." Richie replied "Go get him!" "Why do you want him?" Brock asked "Look, I don't like him, I don't love him. But it is my mission to keep him alive. I'm not going to let my feelings get in the way." "But, if we bring him won't that be risking his life even more?" Brock asked her as he put a fresh clip in his silver Berretta. "GO GET HIM!" the three ran back up stairs and brought Ash down the steps to Misty. "Now listen Ash, and listen good. You will do what I say. You will not speak unless I tell you too, walk, or mess around with any other girls if you come across some. Got it? GOT IT!?" "Yes!" "Okay, Brock." "Going." Brock walked away from the group and down the hallway where Ash found Ben. "Misty." Richie extended his hands to gesture Misty to walk after Brock first. They continued down the hallways to a large ballroom. Brock was standing next to a light switch pushing buttons on a small computer that was on his left arm. "What are you guys doing here? I mean you didn't really come just to save me did you?" Ash asked "Ha! Of course not." Misty replied "Why are you here then?" "Ash, what do you think it means to be a Pokemon Master?" Misty asked him as she turned to face him for the first time. "It means that I'm the best Pokemon trainer." "And?" "What else is there?" "Have you ever thought why the Pokemon League would not allow you to have anyone over to the mansion, or even let you leave Indigo Plateau unless you had an official match?" "I thought about it. What does that have to do with this?" "Ash, fifteen years ago, the Pokemon League was experiencing severe financial problems. They predicted that they would have to stop hosting the Pokemon League. The only thing involving Pokemon that you could do was training them. Now Pokemon training was an open trail to trade and communicate between regions, and countries. The Pokemon League didn't want to lose this, so they took the only available option, create a subcategory." "What's a subcategory?" "They opened up a business, a company that brought in profits. This company was called 'Umbrella Corporation'. This company was the largest commercial entity in Kanto. Nine out of every ten homes contain its products." "What were their products?" "They were the world's leading supplier of computer technologies, medical products, and health care. But 'Umbrella Corporation' was not bringing in enough money. The Pokemon League needed much more. So they took the first offer given to them." "What was it?" "Become partners with Giovanni." "Giovanni? Team Rocket?" "Yes Ash." "So what did they do with Team Rocket?" "Not good things. They brought upon this situation. The Umbrella Corporation began classified experiments, unknown even to its own employees." "What did they do?" "They worked on military technologies, genetic experiments, and…" "And what, Misty?" "Viral weaponry." "So the Pokemon League is a bad company?" "Not a bad company. It should be put under new management that's all." "Yeah. But, why did you ask about not letting me have people over, or me being able to leave?" "Where do you think they do these experiments?" "Team Rocket HQ." "No. They do it in the Hive." "The Hive? What's the Hive?" "Richie, access schematics of the Hive." "Yes ma'am. Accessing the schematics of the Hive." Richie walked over to Ash and Misty. He pulled a screen up from a small keyboard that was on his arm as well. He typed in a few things and then set the small keyboard and screen on a table. "Indigo Plateau, nearest urban center. The mansion where we found you and where we presently are gains access to the train, which in turn leads to the Hive. The Hive itself is located underground deep beneath the streets of Indigo Plateau. A top-secret research facility owned and operated by the Umbrella Corporation. The Hive houses over five hundred technicians, scientists, and support staff. They live and work underground. Their research is of the highest importance, its nature is…classified. Our position on the map is indicated by heat signature." "So, below my house is a research facility?" "Yes." "And five hundred people live and work down there?" "Yes." "But, when do they enter or leave?" "If they do at all, it is during the Pokemon League matches. When you have to attend all of the matches, the people can leave or enter." "Why can't I have people over or leave?" "The Hive is protected by the Red Queen. A state of the art, super computer. If anyone brings in a foreign virus, or anything that poses a threat to her, she will take her steps to neutralize the situation. At least that's what I think." "So what do we have to do?" "Five hours ago, the Red Queen went homicidal. She killed everyone in the Hive. We were dispatched to disable her." "And she's in the Hive?" Ash asked worried "Yes, but first we need to run through the mansion. I don't know why there were those creatures. We have to take control of the mansion again." "Where do we start commander?" asked Richie who was loading his MP5 machine gun. "We'll start here, stay together and comb the mansion as one team. No one is splitting up. Got it?" "Yes ma'am!" Brock, Richie, and Tracey said together. "Don't get me wrong Ketchum, just because you're not on my team don't think that this doesn't apply to you. I have no problem losing you as long as I know that I told you." "I'll stay with you guys. Can I have a gun?" "No. Not just yet." "Why not Misty?" "I was trained to use guns. I think more damage would be done if I used it. Now let's do a clean sweep of the mansion!" "Yes ma'am!" replied the three commandos. "Let's move! The formation is myself and Richie in front side-by-side followed by Ash followed by Brock and Tracey side-by-side. Let's move!" Misty brought out her black Walther P99 and loaded in an extended clip. The team left the ballroom in the formation that Misty had ordered. They walked up to a large wooded door inside the ballroom that lead to the music room. Richie leaned up against the oak door and gripped the doorknob. He looked to the left where Misty was standing with her pistol pointing up. He nodded once to her and then pushed open the door. Misty went down to her knees and aimed into the right side of the music room. The only movement was that of a plastic cover over a statue of and Arkanine. Richie aimed the gun to the left side of the room once Misty pointed her barrel up to the ceiling. "Clear." Misty whispered. She stood up from her knees and slowly walked into the room with her pistol aimed. Richie walked just a foot away from her on the right side with his pistol covering the right side of the room. Okay, here is the formation of the team. M R A T B "Tracey, check the bar." Misty ordered over her shoulder "Got it." Tracey nodded and extended his black and silver 9mm Berretta. He stealthily walked over to the bar and crouched down. He leaned his back up to the left side of the bar counter and aimed his pistol up in the air. He took in another breath and spun around with his pistol aimed. He stood back up from his crouched position and looked at the other three members of the team and at the Pokemon Master Ash. "Clear, Mist." "Thank you Tracey." "Misty, can I please have a weapon?" Ash asked leaning towards her "I thought you were a Pokemon Master?" Brock asked "I am." "Where are your Pokemon?" "I took them to the Pokemon Center." "Why, were they hurt?" Misty asked concerned "No, I brought them there because…never mind." "Why?" Richie asked "Oh I know why!" "Shut up!" Ash replied holding out his right fist. "Why?" Misty asked "Because he had Giselle-" but he was cut off when Ash punched him across the face. "You jerk, you punched me!" "Ash I know about Giselle." Misty said angry "You better run Ash!" Tracey told him. "Right!" Ash turned around and ran out of the music room. "Tracey you sun of a bitch, I wanted to keep him alive!" Misty yelled. Ash ran through the large ballroom and into the blue hallway that led to the kitchen. Ash quickly turned around the corner and bumped into someone. After the contact, Ash fell on his tailbone. "OW!" Ash looked up to see who he bumped into. "Oh my God." Ash whispered. Ben stood high above Ash as he sat on the floor. Ben was missing his throat. His once tan skin was now gray. His eyes were white and there was blood all over him. "Ben?" Ash asked worried. "AH!" Ben opened his mouth to reveal gray, bloody teeth. He jumped at Ash who was still on the floor. "GET OFF OF ME!" He was holding Ben back from what he thought was trying to bite his neck. "BEN GET OFF-AH!" Ash's hand slipped on Ben's bloody face, which cost him a piece of his neck. "HELP!" Ben was chewing on Ash's neck. Blood was trickling down Ash neck and down to the blue carpet. "GET OFF OF HIM!" Ben was picked up from Ash and was stood up. Ash didn't see who helped him but he knew it was a girl. "Misty?" "WHAT!? AH!" Ben jumped into the girl and bit her neck. She fell hard on her back next to Ash. "Giselle!" Ash jumped up and grabbed Ben by the shoulders. He pulled him up from Giselle and slammed him against a wall. "What happened to Ben?" Giselle asked as she placed her hand over the spot where Ben had bit her. "I don't know-AH!" But once again Ben bit Ash, but not his neck, his hand. Ash pulled his hand away but Ben followed still chewing on it. "ASH!" Giselle screamed as Ash fell onto his back with Ben now moving back up to Ash's neck. Ben took one more bite before he was lifted off of Ash. "LEAVE HIM ALONE!" Ash looked up and saw Misty holding Ben by the neck. Ben quickly turned around and scratched Misty's right cheek. "OW!" Misty put her hand over the cut and looked at the blood that was on her hand. "Shit." Misty whispered just as Ben jumped on top of her, slamming her on her back. Misty held Ben's head back from her neck but her hand was slipping on the blood that was from Giselle and Ash. "Ash let's get out of here! Giselle grabbed Ash's hand that was bitten and pulled him towards the kitchen. Before he entered the kitchen he looked back and saw Misty fighting Ben. No one else was coming to help her. Giselle was yelling for him but he didn't hear it. He could only hear Misty screaming, a scream he had never heard anyone use. It was a scream that sent chills up Ash's spine. Misty put her left hand on the center of Ben's face and held him back while she reached for her Walther P99 with her right hand. She gripped the handle and pulled it out. While fighting Ben off she put the gun to Ben's gut. Before she could fire Ben scratched her on the neck. "AH!" she threw her right hand over to the left and dropped the gun while she grabbed her neck. Misty's hand slipped from the blood and Ben lunged for her neck. But right before he could bite, Misty heard five shots go off. She looked over and saw Ash holding her pistol and firing at Ben but he wasn't dying he kept going for her. "GET OFF OF HER!" Ash ran up to Ben and picked him off of her. He spun him around to punch him but got bit on the right fist. "OW!" Ben was quickly spun away from Ash. From behind Ash only saw Ben's head being cocked back, like whiplash. A crack echoed through the suddenly quiet hallway. As Ben fell to the ground, dead, Ash saw Misty standing up with her back to Ash and Ben. "Misty? What did you do?" Ash asked as he stepped over Ben's finally lifeless body. "Broke his neck. I gave him a 'Super Kick' or 'Sweet Chin Music.' Are you okay Ash?" Misty turned around and walked up to Ash. She grabbed his hands and look at them. "It must hurt? Come on, let's go in the kitchen and get you cleaned up." Misty lead Ash into the kitchen, while still holding his hands. "Let's get you cleaned up." "Wait! Where's Giselle? She came in here!" "Giselle?" Misty asked "Yeah, she tried to get me to leave when Ben was attacking you. She ran into the kitchen and I stayed back to help you. She suddenly-" "Oh my God." Misty whispered softly as she looked away from Ash to the stairs leading to the hallway that in turn lead to the bedroom. "What? Oh my God." Ash whispered as he looked over at the stairs. He slowly walked over to them and gazed at the shocking view. "Is it, Giselle's?" Misty asked sadly Ash bent down and picked up a white glove with a bloody red bottom that laid next to another lifeless corpse. "This was hers." "Ash, I'm sorry…WHERE ARE YOU GOING!?" Misty ran to the bottom of the steps and watched as Ash bolted up to the top. "DAMN IT!" Misty walked over to several counters and looked through their inventory. She found drawers with plates, pots, bowls, cups, utensils, and finally one with paper and pens. The pulled out a slip of paper that read at the top, 'FROM THE DESK OF ASH KETCHUM, POKEMON MASTER.' She grabbed one of the black pens and began writing, 'Team, continue on your mission to secure the mansion. Meet up in ballroom in at 7:30. Mist Once she finished the letter she turned around and looked for some knives. Behind her was the knife display. She quickly grabbed a sharp one and poked it through the paper. She reached behind her again and grabbed several other cutting knives. "I hope the rest of the team is all right." Misty slammed the knife's tip into the cutting board. She turned around and ran up the stairs after Ash. Author: Any questions? Comments? Just email them to To me at hbkbattlr9264@yahoo.com Stay tuned for more chapters and the two sequels.
