My Turn to Explain Things Day 4(continued) Kurt appeared in my living room with a "BAMF" sound, startling almost everyone. As I looked around, I saw that Ash had a hand at his belt, ready to grab a poké-ball. Max dropped the drink he was holding. Brock stared at him, as still as a statue. The shock of seeing what must have looked like a blue demon appear from nowhere caused May to faint. Mom gasped in shock and Rowan looked like she was ready to fight. I just rolled my eyes at him and gave him a look that said "Use the door next time." I walked over to May so I could help bring her around. Brock and I put her in a chair as she came to. "Guys," I said, "this is Kurt Wagnah. Kurt, these ah my friends Rowan, Ash Brock, May and Max, and that's my Mahm," I said pointing everyone out in turn. Then I explained to everyone about what happened to me in the past four days. "Hello. Marc, the jet is ready to take off. Ve should go." "Okay, then...uh if ya want ta come along, I won't stop ya, but Mahm, I think you should stay heh." We all went to the lacrosse field behind the high school near my house where the X-jet was waiting. I quickly introduced everyone and we boarded the jet. Storm took off and we flew west. * * * Day 5 There was knocking on the door. "It's unlocked, Ash. Come in," I said. Ash walked in with a look of surprise. "Psychic powahs, remembah?" I said in response to his unasked question. "I don't get it," he said, "Why do people hate mutants so much?" "It's probly 'cause theh scahd of what we'ah capahble of," I replied. I began pacing back and fourth. "It just doesn't add up!" I said, thinking out loud. In my frustration I kicked an empty poké-ball. "Hey! Watch it!" Ash said as he ducked to avoid the poké- ball that bounced off the wall behind him and clattered to the floor. "Sorry," I half-muttered, preoccupied with my thoughts. Then I absentmindedly strode past Ash and left the room. "Hey, wait!" Ash said as I walked down the hall and into the living room. I wasn't trying to be rude, there was just too much on my mind at the moment. I sat down on the couch next to Rogue. She was watching the local news as I was about to get up and leave when I heard the reporter say this: "Five days have passed since eleven-year-old Doris--" the signal was interrupted "-- disappeared without a single clue regarding her whereabouts. Local police call this the most baffling case they've encountered in years." I scoffed in reply to what I heard. "You don't know the half of it." I said. Then I realized that everyone in the room was staring at me. Then I figured out why. The sofa I was sitting on was floating in midair! I gently put the sofa down, got up and went back to "my" room. Through the window, I could see Ash and Rowan's pokémon sparring. Then a thick cloud of white smoke enveloped everyone. Ash. Rowan. Max. Brock. May. Before I could stop myself, I ran out of the room, down the hall and out behind the mansion. When I arrived at the scene, Jesse of Team Rocket was already holding a glass jar with Pikachu inside. I grabbed a poké-ball and said "Dragon, yoh up!" I threw it and a serpent-like pokémon popped out. "Air." Said Dragon "Dragon, when Team Rocket no lohgah has Pikachu, use Twistah." I said. Dragon nodded. I focused my thoughts on getting the jar. It flew right out of Jesse's hand toward Max. "AAAIR!" Dragon conjured up a tornado that blew Team Rocket away. "It looks like Team Rocket's blasting off agaiiiin!" The trio cried as they hurtled off in the distance. Max had gotten Pikachu out of the jar. "Pikaaaaah!" the yellow rodent pokémon squealed. "No prob'm." I replied. "Look at Dragon!" said May suddenly "Dragon?" I said. The pokémon was glowing bright white... To be continued...
