Narrator: Last time on A Vacation For Lurve, Dylan’s Arcanine defeated Team Rocket and our heroes finally got their rooms. Misty planed to have a private dinner alone with Ash, but when Dylan went to visit her, he found her feeling rough. Meanwhile, Tracey and Corrie seem to be getting on well and Ash is searching for some tucks or at least, the mall.

Ash: OK, to the East of the waterfall and look out for signposts. Is that the right way Pikachu?

Pikachu nodded slowly and then pointed to a signpost directed to the Mall. They followed the signs that seemed to take forever until, they came face to face with giant billboard. ‘The Mall’ it said in bright gold lettering. Ash entered through the transparent doors as a variety of shops stood out, almost greeting and inviting customers in with the decorations surrounding them. He and Pikachu walked the halls of the Mall, searching for a shop with tucks for rent. They saw one tucked away down an alley. The shop itself was filled with many different styles and colours but in the end, Ash decided to rent a plain black tuxedo and bow tie. He tried it on, making sure he didn’t need any extra fitting to it. Surprisingly enough to him, it fitted like a dream. As he turned in the full-length mirror he noticed something different about himself. He actually looked older. Whether it was the tuxedo or not, he liked it. He paid the full price for the tuxedo instead of renting it, just in case it came in handy again. Pleased, Ash made his way back out of the Mall and towards the elevator. With Pikachu on his head and the tuxedo neatly wrapped in his hand, Ash pushed the button on the elevator to take him up to the second floor. Pikachu was now on the floor as the doors opened. They both stepped out and made their way to their room when the door to the left opened. Misty’s room.

Dylan: Hey Ash, Pikachu.

Ash: Darren?

Dylan: (through gritting teeth) DYLAN.

Ash: Oh, err, sorry. What you doing in Misty’s room?

Dylan: Look, it’s not what you think. Misty’s a bit under the weather and I’m just going down to get some paracetamol or something to help her.

Ash: (concerned) Is she OK?

Dylan: I think so. She’s asleep at the moment.

Ash put the key in his door to let Pikachu inside.

Ash: Can I see her?

Dylan: Err, sure but don’t wake her up. She needs some rest.

Ash: OK.

Ash walked past Dylan who hurried off to find some paracetamol. He turned into Misty’s room and saw her, lying in the middle of her double bed. It was just like Ash’s daydream and his butterflies returned. He put down the package in his arms on her dresser and made his way towards the bed. He sat down on the edge and noticed Misty was starting to stir. He drew in his breathe, wondering what she would say when she saw him sitting over her instead of Dylan. Misty opened her eyes and started to focus on a familiar figure. When the figure came into full focus, she smiled.

Misty: (softly) Hi Ash.

Ash: Hi Misty. How are you feeling?

Misty: I could feel better…

Ash: What happened to you?

Misty: I’m not sure. I just felt a little dizzy. It’s nothing, honest.

Ash: Want me to do anything for you?

Misty: Actually yes. Err, could you check Togepi for me? I left him asleep in my bag.

Ash: Sure.

Ash got up from where he was sitting and went over to the corner of the room where Misty had left her bag. He undid the drawstrings to find a small egg pokemon enclosed in its’ shell. He picked it up and handed it to Misty who caressed it in her arms before putting it down on the bed beside her. She looked up at Ash and smiled.

Misty: (smiling) Manage to find something suitable for dinner tonight?

Ash: You’ll be surprised. But, are you sure you’ll be OK to go?

Misty: It’s only dinner, Ash.

Ash: Well, (looked at the clock at Misty’s bedside) It’s almost half six. I better get ready.

Misty: Hey, Ash, where’s Dylan?

Ash: (cringing) He went to get you some medicine.

Misty: (getting up) Well, if you see him, could you tell him I’m feeling better now?

Ash: Sure thing Misty.

Ash got up off the bed and grabbed his tuxedo of the dresser. He saw in the corner of his eye that Misty was watching him. He felt a bit flustered as he left and didn’t understand why he was feeling this way. Once back in his room, Pikachu ran up to Ash and jumped into his arms.

Pikachu: Pi pika chu chu?

Ash: She’s OK. She’ll see us at dinner.

Pikachu pointed to something in a plastic bag on the floor. Ash bent over and peered inside. It was a black box. He looked at Pikachu who smiled and laughed. Ash opened the box and stared inside remembering what he brought earlier…

**********

There was a knock at the door. Ten to seven, right on time. Misty turned away from the mirror and ran to open it. There in front of her stood Ash. He had his tuxedo on and casually held out an arm for Misty to take. He couldn’t help staring at her. She was wearing a long, white, strapless dress. Her hair was down, completing the effect of a princess. Her arms were covered with a matching set of long sleeved gloves. She took his arm, Togepi in the other, and shut the door.

Misty: (looking up and down Ash/eyebrow raised) Is that the best you could do?

Ash: HUH?!? It took me ages to find this suit!

Misty: Not the suit! I mean the hair!

Ash: (defensively) What’s wrong with my hair?

Misty: (bluntly) It’s all cap-worn.

Ash: (puzzled) Is that a good thing?

Misty: (sighs out white cloud and holds hand to her head) DON’T BE STUPID! Look, come inside, I’ll sort it out.

With that, Ash was dragged back into Misty’s room. She sat him down on a footstool in front of her dresser and grabbed a comb. She started to brush his hair in silence, concentrating on a new hairdo for him. Ash felt awkward but after a while, it started to feel kind of nice.

Misty: Have you ever thought of cutting it?

Ash: My hair? No! I’m not having it cut. I like it this length!

Misty: (shrugging) Just a suggestion.

Misty made a parting in his hair using a spike-comb and brushed the two sides of hair down. She looked in the mirror to get a front view of his hair in the reflection but couldn’t help noticing something about him.

Misty: Have you put cologne on?

Ash: (blushing) Err… yes.

Misty: It’s nice.

Ash: Thanks.

Their eyes met in the mirror. They stared at each other for what seemed like an hour. Ash wanted to tell her how beautiful she looked but didn’t have the guts. He just stared at her staring at him until, she looked away. He realized that she has been doing this a lot recently.

Misty: (turned away, not facing Ash) All done!

Ash rose from the footstool and peered into the mirror appreciating the hairstyle. It looked good on him but it didn’t last. As soon as he turned to face Misty, it reformed its old style.

Misty: (turned to face Ash/starts laughing lightly) It’s no use.

Ash: Looks like you’ll have to put up with cap-worn hair for dinner tonight.

Misty: Hey, where’s Pikachu?

Ash: Oh he’s eating with the rest of my pokemon at a special restaurant. It’s only for pokemon. It’s not fair if it’s only us enjoying a break away from travelling is it?

Misty nodded in agreement, picked up Togepi and turned for the door. She opened it and there stood Dylan. He handed her a freshly picked, single red rose wrapped in a smoked plastic wrapping.

Dylan: (hands Misty a rose/French accent) Un chanté…

Dylan picked up the hand that wasn’t holding Togepi and kissed it lightly. Misty stood there with the rose in her hand and a chuckling Togepi in the other completely stunned.

Dylan: I thought I might escort you to dinner.

Ash stepped up, appearing behind Misty. Dylan’s mouth dropped as he glanced from Misty to Ash and back again. He stepped aside, as if beaten.

Misty: Sorry Dylan. I guess I forgot to tell you I was having dinner with Ash.

Dylan: But I thought we were going down as a group?

Ash: Misty and I need to talk, alone.

Dylan: Oh. Well I guess …… I’ll see you later.

Dylan hung his head low and turned away form Ash and Misty in disappointment. He started to make his way back to the elevator when a warm hand grabbed his arm.

Misty: Wait! Err.. you could at least walk with us to dinner.

Misty felt guilty for saying no to her old friend but she had to do something. Ash on the other hand was hoping for some time alone with her but didn’t show the jealousy he was feeling on his face. The three started off down the hall (four if you count Togepi) and stepped into the elevator.

Ash: Err, where is this restaurant anyway?

Dylan: It’s on the top of the whole resort, over looking the rest of the island and the Ocean.

Misty: Wow! It sounds so romantic!

Dylan: (looking at Misty) It is …

Ash felt tense around this situation and was glad when the lift stopped soon after. The door opened and the night air was refreshing against his face. He purposely stepped in-between Misty and Dylan as they exited the lift and together they walked up to a man seating customers down.

Man: A table for three?

Misty: Err, no. A table for two please.

Dylan: I’ll leave you two alone. I think I see Brad and Rachel over there….

Misty: Thanks Dylan. See you later?

Dylan: (giving Misty a wink) You can count on it.

Ash saw a disgusted look on Dylan’s face as his eyes swept over him, judging the situation. He walked off towards a table and waited for the others to arrive.

Man: This way please.

The man organizing the seating arrangements for the restaurant showed Ash and Misty to a table closest to the Ocean. The moon was high, making a dazzling effect on the ocean. The candle in the middle of their table was lit as Ash and Misty sat down, Togepi on the table.

Man: (to Misty) I am afraid your pokemon cannot dine at the table with you, due to health and safety regulations. Would you like me to put it in the restaurant Pokemyths?

Misty: Togepi is too young to stay by itself.

Ash: Don’t worry Misty. That’s the restaurant where Pikachu is eating at. He’ll look after Togepi for us.

Misty: (sadly) Uh OK. (hands the man Togepi) Just be careful with him OK?

Togepi: (happy) Tog e pri!

Man: Your pokemon is in good hands, madam. A waiter will be here shortly.

With that, he took Togepi off to a separate restaurant and Ash and Misty were TRULY alone now. There was an awkward silence between the two that looked at each other and then turned away, blushing. They took they’re menus and scanned them, still in silence. This was difficult for them both as they had never been alone like this before. If it was ever just the two of them, Pikachu or Togepi were there too. Finding conversation was hard but in the end, Misty broke the silence.

Misty: (nervous) This resort is really posh, don’t you think? I mean, having two restaurants, one for people, one for pokemon. Isn’t that weird?

Ash: Yeah but it does make sense though. (Squinty eyes/smiling) Even posh places like this have to have rules!

Just then, a waiter came over to take their order. He was dressed in a typical black waiter’s uniform with a towel over his left arm.

Waiter: May I take your order please?

Ash: Uh sure. I’ll have the Chicken Cuisine and a coke, no ice.

Waiter: And you madam?

Misty: Erm, I’ll have the Seafood Platter, no peppers, and a coke with ice.

Waiter: Will you be having dessert?

Ash glanced at Misty, knowing what the answer will be and quickly scanned the dessert menu.

Misty: We’ll think about dessert.

Ash looked up, surprised at Misty’s answer. Normally, she devours all the ice cream in the restaurant. Now, he felt even more uncomfortable as the waiter left to get their food.

Ash: Have you finally gone off ice cream?

Misty: Me? Go off ice cream? (Giggled) You must be joking!

Ash: (mumbling) I thought it was too good to be true.

Misty: What was that?

Ash: (nervous) Err, Nothing!

Misty knew exactly what Ash said. She didn’t take it to offence though. Once again, there was that awkward silence. Misty looked over at the ocean wishing she had a camera with her to capture the reflection of the moonlight and the stars. The night sky was clear but, as she was in the Orange Islands, she didn’t recognize any of the constellations. Ash, on the other hand, still couldn’t keep his eyes of Misty. To him, she had never looked so attractive since he met her. He wanted to grab her hand, but over ruled the temptation in his mind.

Ash: Misty, did you wanna talk to me about something?

Misty turned her head to face Ash. For the first time in that evening, she realized how good-looking he was. And older!

Misty: Yeah. A couple of things have been on my mind.

Ash: Like what?

Misty: Well, (blushed slightly) I think I better start off with Dylan.

Ash lent back in his chair, knowing this was going to be a long story.

Misty: (uneasy) It happened when I was about eleven or twelve. I was living with my sisters and my parents in Cerulean, about 9 months before we met. (angry tone) Or should I say when YOU nicked my bike and completely DESTROYED it!

Ash: (sweat dropping) Wa! It was an accident! I didn’t mean to wreck it!

Misty: (leaning back in chair/arms folded) Well that’s not the point. (relaxed) A couple of my friends and I went out to play around in the city. Dylan was one of them. Just like any kids did, we mucked around in the mud and had water fights and generally had a good time. (sighed) It was curfew time and Dylan walked me back home to the gym. I invited him in and instead of coming back to a loving and peaceful household, I found my sisters crying in their rooms. The next day, I found out my parents were getting a divorce.

Misty hung her head low trying to cover her eyes. Ash noticed a tear twinkle as it ran down her face.

Ash: Misty, I’m really sorry…

Misty: (holding back the tears) Don’t be, there’s more. I guess your probably wandering why Dylan and I are so close.

Ash reluctantly nodded. He wasn’t quite sure whether he wanted to hear this or not.

Misty: Well, when I told Dylan about my parents, he was.. err.. very comforting. One thing lead to another and… we kissed.

Ash knew he didn’t want to hear what she had to say about Dylan. A pain struck his inside, making him feel sick. He held his stomach trying hard not to let anything show.

Misty: The thing is, (whispering) I think Dylan still has feelings for me.

Ash: (sarcastically) How can you tell.

Ash turned his head away from Misty and scowled at Dylan on the other side of the room. He knew that he was totally jealous of Dylan for kissing Misty all those years ago. He could just picture it. Her beautiful rose red lips touching his mocking, pale ones. Ash couldn’t stand it.

Misty noticed Ash losing interest. She had to pick up the conversation, stop talking about herself.

Misty: Ash, tell me what’s wrong.

Ash: Err.. nothings wrong Misty. Why do you keep saying that?

Misty: Ash, I’ve known you so long that I can almost read you like a book.

Ash: Huh?

Misty: It’s an expression. Look it up sometime?

Ash: Err…

Misty: (putting hand to her face) Oh never mind!

Ash looked up from Misty and saw a waiter heading their way. There were two plates on his left arm and one tray in his right hand. Ash always wondered how waiters and waitresses carried so many plates on there arms if each and everyone of them where burning hot. He placed the plates on the table. First Misty’s, then his own. Then came the drinks. His own dish consisted of a chicken breast covered in a red tangy sauce, vegetables and a jacket potato, smothered in butter. He took a glance over at Misty’s plate consisting of prawns, scallops and some fillet of a particular fish as well as potatoes and vegetables. How comes other people’s food looks so much better then your own? Ash felt his mouth drying up so reached for his coke. Misty did the same. They picked up the same glass, Ash’s hand on top of Misty’s. They stared at each other again, both very confused, puzzled and both turning crimson from embarrassment.

Misty: (blushing) Err.. Ash. This is my drink.

Ash: (blushing) How can err.. you.. err … tell.

Misty: Mine has the ice cubes floating in it.

Ash: Oh!

Ash quickly let go of Misty’s hand and grabbed his own glass of coke. As he was so nervous and sweating so much, he drank it all. Ash was extremely uncomfortable now. He had to escape.

Ash: Could you excuse me a minute?

Misty: Sure.

With that Ash walked as fast as he could to the men’s room. Once inside he looked in the mirror and saw himself flustered. He gently splashed some water on his face to cool himself off and grabbed a towel and massaged his face with it.

Ash: (thinking) What’s wrong with me? I’ve never felt like this before. Argghh! I can’t believe she told me about her and Dylan! I can’t believe he kissed her! Oh, if only she knew. Knew what? What is this feeling I have inside me? When she touched me… when I touched her… Oh how good it felt! Is this how it feels to be in love? Should I tell Misty how I feel? No, I can’t. I have to be certain she feels the same for me. But will she ever love me? If Dylan keeps impressing her with roses and compliments, she might end up with him, again. I can’t let that happen.

Ash checked himself over in the mirror once more before turning out of the door towards his table. His determination was soon knocked off guard when he saw Dylan holding hands across his own table with Misty.

Narrator: Uh-oh! Just when our hero Ash finds out his true feelings for Misty, Dylan gets in the way once again. What will happen next? Will Ash pluck up the courage to go back to the table? Will he tell Misty how he feels? Find out… next time.

~ OK. There you go. Any better? Well I hope it is and I hope it explains Misty’s and Dylan’s relationship. But wait, THERE’S MORE TO COME! Any comments are welcome. Just email me at silver_angel4eva@hotmail.com PLEASE! luv Silver Angel ~
