A VACATION FOR LURVE

Part 6

~ OK, as always, I don’t own Ash & co. but I do own Dylan, Brad, Rachel, Corrie and Jen.

Ash/Jen- 15

Misty/Dylan- 16

Brad/Rachel- 16

Tracey/Corrie- 17

Narrator: Last time our heroes Ash and Misty had an enormous fight. This wasn’t just any of their normal bickering. This was serious. Dylan has made his move onto Misty and has asked her to give up life with Ash and to travel around with him instead. Will she take up his offer? We find them both on their balconies, meeting for the first time since the argument.

Ash: (casual) Hello Misty

Misty: Hi Ash.

Uncomfortably, they looked away from each other, remembering the fight only a few hours ago. Ash was still shocked and hurt after thinking that he would lose Misty for good, thanks to the arms of Dylan.

Ash: (thinking) This is stupid. We can’t avoid each other like this forever. I have to talk to her, apologize for my actions. I won’t let Dylan get her without a fight!

Ash gathered his thoughts together and looked back at Misty. She was still in her beautiful white ball gown and had a book in front of her. He’d seen that book a couple of times during their journey together. She only took it out at night, and wrote a couple of pages each time. Must be her diary, he concluded. He wandered if he was ever mentioned in it. Well, after a performance like tonight, how couldn’t he be mentioned in her diary! Ash jumped over the white pole separating the two balconies and swiftly made his way over to Misty. There was a spear deck chair opposite to her so he sat down.

Ash: (sigh) Misty, we need to talk.

Misty: (coldly) I don’t have anything to say to you Ash Ketchum.

Misty was still looking way from him so, to get her attention, Ash plucked up the courage and reached for her hand resting on the table. It relaxed there for a few brief seconds, sending a burning sensation through both of their arms. Misty looked up in to Ash’s eyes and quickly pulled her hand away from his and stood up.

Misty: (no emotion) I meant what I said Ash.

Ash: (overwhelmed) About what?

Misty: About leaving. (turned away from Ash) As soon as this vacation is over, you won’t have to bother about me ever again.

Ash paused, knowing her words were sincere.  He tried to turned her around so he could see the expression on her face and try to figure out what she was thinking but, she pushed him away and retreated back into her room, locking the patio doors behind her. She hastily closed the curtains and fell onto her bed, tears reforming in her eyes. Ash watched completely bewildered. There was nothing he could do. Nothing he could say to make the pain they were both feeling disappear. He heard her soft, wailing sobs and he felt like someone had just ripped his chest open and showed him his own cold heart. He was alone, and probably would be, for the rest of his life.

**********

Misty woke in the early hours of the morning from a sleepless night. She had way too much on her mind to do anything but stare into space. She turned facing her egg Pokemon, Togepi. She reached out and brought it closer to her, nuzzling it against her face.

Misty: (whispering) Your so lucky Togepi. You don’t have a worry in the world. Oh, why can’t my life be like that?

Togepi was still asleep and was only soothed even more by Misty’s words. Her head went down and carefully kissed her Pokemon.

Misty:  (thinking) What to do, what to do? Should I accept Dylan’s offer just to make Ash jealous and want me back? No, I couldn’t do that. What if he doesn’t want me back? How could he ever want me? Do I love him? Oh, so many questions, so little time.

As Misty lay in her bed staring up at the white decorated ceiling, seconds, minutes and hours flew by. Last time she looked at the clock on her bedside table it was 8:30am. It was now 11:45. There was a knock on the door.

???: (shouting through the door) Hey! Misty! Get up already!

It was Tracey. Voice slightly muffled by the thickness of the door, but definitely him. Suddenly snapped out from her thoughts, Misty gradually got up and opened the door.

Tracey: Decided to sleep in, huh?

Misty: (no emotion) Something like that….

Tracey: We missed you at breakfast.

Misty: (questionly) We?

Tracey: Yeah, you know, Corrie, Rachel, Brad, Jen.

Misty: What about Dylan and Ash?

Tracey: Dylan was there and he was really worried about you. Said he may have done something wrong to hurt you and that’s why you didn’t come down to breakfast?

Misty: …..

Tracey: Well, anyway. Ash did show up but he only stayed a few minutes and then said he had something to do.

Misty: (dissapointed) Oh.

Tracey: Misty, is something wrong? If there is, you can tell me.

Misty: (reassuringly) No, but thanks anyway Tracey, I’ll keep that in mind.

Tracey smiled and then remembered the real reason why he came up to Misty’s room.

Tracey: The guys and me are going swimming. We wanted to know if you would like to come and take part too.

Misty: (happy) Actually, I think that would be a great idea!

Tracey: Good. We’ll see you down there, K?

Misty: K!

Misty closed the door behind her and quickly got into her red bikini. She took her hair band out and let her hair dangle at shoulder length. Promptly, she woke Togepi and placed him in her red bag, along with her towel, Pokemon and sunscreen. Then, she merrily made her way down to the Olympic sized, outdoor swimming pool.

**********

Tracey: Oh cheer up Ash! We’re on VACATION in a FABULOUS RESORT!

Ash: (mumbling / under his breath)  It feels more like  heartbreak hotel instead of a fancy resort.

Tracey was oblivious to Ash’s words and quickly jumped into the swimming pool, splashing everyone already inside. Surprisingly enough, Jen, Corrie, Brad, Rachel, Dylan, Ash and Tracey had the pool to themselves. They let out there water Pokemon who occupied a separate part of the pool, away from their  masters. Jen slowly pulled herself out of the water and strolled over to Ash who was sitting against a tiled wall, playing with Pikachu. She stood, staring down at him until finally, crouching down beside him.

Jen: Something’s on your mind isn’t it. Let me guess. There are two words. One starting with a D and ending in an N, the other starting with and M and finishing in a Y. Am I right?

Ash didn’t answer and only continued to stroke Pikachu tenderly under the chin. Pikachu smiled after the smooth, gentle massage then ran off abruptly to join his other Pokemon friends.

Jen: (ticked off) Look, just because you’re having troubles with Misty and Dylan, doesn’t mean you have to take it out on all of us. (sigh) I haven’t known you very long at all Ash, but I’m sure I would like to if you just let me.

Jen smiled coyly and rose to her feet before walking back to the swimming pool. Ash looked up from the floor to watch her dive in without making a splash.

Ash: (thinking) She’s right. I’m on vacation. I shouldn’t spend it morning over whatever Misty’s doing. (outloud/ rising to his feet) WATCH OUT EVERYBOBY!

With a big smile on his face, Ash bombed into the swimming pool, making sure everyone was splashed by the enormous wave he made. Ash finally rose to the surface to find everyone surrounding him, absolutely drenched.

Dylan: Ready, aim…

Everyone apart from Ash: FIRE!

Brad, Rachel, Corrie, Tracey, Jen and Dylan all fired water at Ash with great force. When they stopped, everyone was rolling with laughter. The group continued to mess around with each other in the swimming pool, taking turns in jumping off the diving board and performing stupid stunts. Ash swam to the side and pulled his body out of the water (sitting with only his legs in).

Ash: (thinking) Wow! I haven’t had this much fun in a long time! Everyone is great fun to be around. Including Dylan! It’s almost as if we’ve put our differences about Misty behind us!

There was a pause around the swimming pool as everyone looked up at the diving board, staring in awe. And there she stood, hair down and wearing a slightly revealing bikini.

Misty: (shouting) Hey! Sorry I’m late guys!

With that she jumped off, displaying a series of summersults before straightening out and diving in head first. When she appeared back up to the top of the water, her surrounding friends applauded her.

Dylan: Hey, good dive Misty!

Jen: Yeah! I wish I could dive like that!

Misty: (wisely)  It takes a lot of practise and, (laughing) a lot of nagging from my sisters to do that!

Misty swam over to the shallow end where the Pokemon where playing. She had released her pokemon before the dive and was just checking on Togepi. He was using Maril’s tail as a float and was playfully splashing about. Misty chuckled quietly then turned round to join the rest of the gang.

Misty: Ok, so what should we do?

Brad: How about kiss chase?

Tracey: Brad, only couples can play that!

Brad: (holding hand behind head) Oh yeah!

Ash: Well, (getting back in the swimming pool), how about fourty-fourty in?

Dylan: Yeah, that’s sounds cool.

Jen: So who’s gunna be it?

Ash: I will.

Misty: OK then. Choose your base.

Ash: Err… How about the right hand corner of the swimming pool towards the diving board?

Rachel: Sounds good to me!

Jen: I take it we’re not allowed out of the swimming pool?

Corrie: Correct!

Misty: OK then Ash. Close your eyes and count to twenty then come after us.

Ash: OK.

Ash closed his eyes and started to count, first out loud, then in his head. When he got to twenty he dropped himself into the pool, took a breath in and went under water. He was surprised how clear the water was as he could see everyone around him. He kept an eye on his base in case anyone tried to sneak past him whilst he chased Tracey, trying to tag him. Tracey surfaced, trying to get a deep breath before going back under and making a dash for base. Ash followed him, determined not to lose him. He reached up and took a breath of air before noticing four people resting at the base.

Ash: (angry) Arrhh man! How’d you get there so quickly?

Jen: We swam.

Rachel: We were hiding…

Brad: … About 6ft from base.

Corrie: When you left to look for us, we swam and got to home!

Just then, two heads appeared up next to the group of four.

Tracey / Dylan: FORTY-FORTY HOME!

Ash: (annoyed) Oh Crap!

Jen: There’s still Misty to get Ash.

Ash suddenly brightened up and took a breath in and started to search for Misty under water. She wasn’t hard to find, thanks to the red bikini she was wearing. Ash made a dash towards her reaching out to touch her arm but, Misty casually swam out of the way, missing Ash’s grasp. He tried again and again but every time missing by a few inches. He was running out of air so he started to turn back up to the surface when a hand reached his, pulling him back down and wrapping itself around his body. Misty moved closer to him and their lips touched and parted. Ash felt a gush of air rush through his mouth as he was refilled with oxygen. A few bubbles escaped from their locked mouths as Ash wrapped his own arms around her. He didn’t want to stop kissing her but had to when she pulled away from him, moments later. They stared at each other for a long time before Misty retreated away from Ash as fast as she could. A very confused yet loved up boy broke the waters surface. He just caught a glimpse of Misty running out of the swimming pool, towel around her shoulders, sprinting for the double doors that lead back into the resort. Ash got out of the swimming pool, dripping wet and ran after her. Once he reached the double doors he stopped, trying to spot her in the rush of crowds enfolding him. Then he spotted her dashing up some stairs leading to the elevator. He continued to try to catch her as she stopped, waiting for the elevator to arrive at the ground floor. The doors opened and she stepped inside and saw Ash racing towards her. Misty punched the numbers on the elevator control panel desperately trying to get out of his sight. The doors closed just as Ash reached the elevator. In frustration, he pounded the metallic shutters as if hoping they would open. They didn’t. Ash decided to take the stairs up to the second floor and hopefully, he would be there before Misty. He rushed through an open glass door and took two steps at a time up the stairs. At the top, he opened another glass door just in time to see the elevator doors next to him open. Misty stepped out in tears, holding her face. Ash whirled her round by the arm and she screamed, completely shocked. After realising who it was, she flopped onto the floor, leaning against the wall beside the elevator. She held her head in her knees as she started to take in deep breathes of air, trying to calm herself down. She felt a hand rub up and down her bare back. The hand was warm and comforting so she easily managed to relax. Ash sat down beside her, still rubbing her back soothingly. His eyes focused on her, concerned and worried. She succeeded to bring her head up to face his, staring into those deep, meaningful brown eyes. One last tear trickled down her face as they moved closer together, about to kiss when… the elevator doors opened, and they quickly pulled away from each other.

Dylan: Misty, are you OK?

Misty: Yeah, Dylan, I just… (looked at Ash)…. Got the breath taken out of me.

Dylan: Here, let me take you back to your room. Then we can go to lunch with the others.

Dylan swept Misty up in his arms and Ash scowled at him for interrupting their moment together. He was so close to kissing her, to having the only thing he wanted kissing him back. Ash quietly pounded the wall with his fist as he watched Dylan open the door to the room and close it again behind him and Misty. All the hate and anger he felt towards Dylan rose up again in his chest as he took the lift back down to the swimming pool to collect his things he had left.

**********

Dylan swiftly laid Misty down on the bed in her wet bikini and quickly looked her over for any bruises or cuts.

Dylan: He didn’t hurt you did he? If he did, I’ll…..

Misty: (shouting) He did nothing of the sort!

Dylan: (confused) Then why did you run off like that?

Misty: (trying to come up with an excuse) I err…. Err….. I….. just had a bit of a shock, that’s all.

Dylan: (very confused) What do you mean?

Misty: (lying) Well, err, when Ash was err…. Err…

Dylan: Trying to tag you?

Misty: Yeah! When he was trying to tag me I err… saw this… (lying) shadow. I got really scared and just bolted out of there.

Dylan: A Shadow? Hmmm… must have been one of the Pokemon.

Misty sighed thankfully that Dylan bought the story. He then turned his attention back to her and ran a hand through her damp hair and down her neck.

Dylan: So, have you thought about my question I asked you last night?

Misty: (disappointed) Yes

Dylan: And?

Misty: I still haven’t decided yet.

Dylan: (disappointed) Oh..

Misty: (reassuringly) As soon as I know, you’ll be the first person I tell. I promise.

Dylan then moved in towards her face and kissed her passionately. When they broke, their arms were around each other.

**********

Tracey, Corrie, Jen, Rachel and Brad were gathering there things together back down at the swimming pool. All were engaged in conversation.

Tracey: What do you think that was all about?

Brad: I don’t know, but I do know that whatever those three are involved in, it’s best that I don’t get preoccupied in it.

Rachel: Who said you were going to get preoccupied when you’ve got me?

Brad: I didn’t mean it like that, Honey.

Rachel: Good. I wouldn’t want to ditch you….

Rachel then walked up to Brad and laid on him a big, loving kiss. When they separated, Brad fell to the floor all dazed and dizzy.

Rachel:… You’re too nice too dump.

Corrie: (to Jen) Rule number one for you to learn Jen, always let the guy know who’s boss.

The two burst up laughing as Tracey walked over to the swimming pool and returned his Maril back to it’s Pokeball.

Tracey: Hey, erm, guys. What shall we do with Ash’s Squirtle and Lapras and Misty’s Staryu, Goldeen and Togepi?

Just as Tracey finished his sentence, Ash came through the doors to the swimming pool and quickly returned his Pokemon. Tracey fell to the floor right next to Brad who was still in la la land.

Ash: (looking down at Tracey and Brad) What’s wrong with them?

Jen: Oh, one of them’s on cloud nine and the other… well, I’m not too sure.

Ash: Jen, do you know where Misty’s bag is?

Jen: Err, yeah. It’s next to that sunbed over there. Why?

Ash: (picking up Mist's bag and searching through it) I’m trying to find her Poke ball's to return her Pokemon.

Ash fumbled through her bag trying to find the sphereical objects. Then, with success he found them and pulled them out. Five mini sized Pokeball’s stood in the palm of his hands.

Ash: That’s weird.

Rachel: What is?

Ash: Misty’s only Pokemon are Staryu, Goldeen, Psyduck and Togepi. Togepi doesn’t go in a Pokeball because it’s too young and I didn’t see Psyduck come out of it’s Pokeball earlier. Yet she has two spare pokeballs.

Jen: Maybe they’re empty?

Ash: Maybe…

Ash got two Pokeballs that he somehow realised belonged to Staryu and Goldeen and returned the Pokemon back to their Pokeballs. Brad and Tracey were now up from the floor and Tracey wandered over to Ash. He helped Ash by gathering up Togepi who was still gleeing with happiness and placed it next to Ash. Rachel left with Brad, hand in hand, saying that they’d meet up with them again for lunch. Ash was still looking at the two Pokeballs that were spare from Misty’s backpack in his hand. He had and urge to throw them and see if there was a Pokemon inside that Misty never mentioned before. The urge began to grow and grow until instinct took over….

**********

Misty was in her room and had just got changed out of her bikini. She was wearing her normal outfit composing of a yellow tank top, denim hot pants and suspenders to join the two together. Her hair was in a low ponytail, not like her normal high one and she wasn’t wearing any make-up. Then, she realised her mistake.

Misty: OH S*#T! I LEFT THE POKEBALLS AND TOGEPI BACK DOWN AT THE SWIMMING POOL!

Misty quickly rushed to the door and made her way as fast as possible to the pool.

**********

Tracey: Ash, they’re probably just empty, like Jen said.

Jen: Anyway, it’s invading Misty’s privacy if you do open them.

Ash: Yeah, yeah I know, I know. But I have a feeling that I have to open them. It’s kinda hard to describe but I know there’s something in them.

Ash looked down at the two mini Pokeballs and enlarged them to their proper size.

Ash: I have to find out whether she’s hiding something.

Ash rose to his feet and prepared to throw the two Pokeballs when suddenly he was caught off guard as an impact of electicity surged through his body.

Jen: (worried) ASH!

Tracey: Pikachu, why did you do that?

Jen ran over to the charred Ash who now laid on the floor.

Pikachu: Pika! Pikachu! Pi Pika Chu Chu Pikachu!

Pikachu then ran up to Ash and grabbed the two mini sized Pokeballs in it’s mouth. It then bolted off towards the door.

Ash: (worried/angry) PIKACHU! What’s gotten into you!?!

Pikachu kept running and only stopped when it came face to face with a girl.

Misty: Give them here Pikachu.

Pikachu climbed onto Misty’s shoulder and dropped the two Pokeballs into her hand willingly. He received a thank you rub under his chin and then Misty walked up to Ash and helped him up.

Misty: Next time, don’t go through my things.

Ash: (angry/suspious) What are you hiding from me… er  I mean… (embaressed) ..us?

Misty: You’ll find out….

Misty then gathered up Togepi and her backpack and placed the two Pokeballs inside. Pikachu, Misty and Togepi exited via the double doors, giggling quietly to themselves.

Ash: She’s definitely hiding something from me……

Narrator: This is getting very weird. What was in those Pokeballs? Will Ash ever find out? Did Misty really kiss Ash under water or was she just supplying him with oxygen? Find out in Part 7!
