Another Chance By: slickboy444@aol.com AN: Greetings! I was inspired once again by McWizardX to write this AAMRN. After reading his story “Chance (for love)” I was inspired. Thank you McWizardX for all your inspiration and I thank everybody that read my other stories. Now here is another one for your reading pleasures. It starts off along side the TV show so I hope you don’t get confused at first. If it looks like I skipped over some stuff I’m very sorry, I just didn’t want to bore you with unneeded details. I would like it very much if you e-mailed me what you think. Remember, I don’t own pokemon at all so please don’t sue me because I have nothing. Thank you and enjoy! AN: ‘These mean character thoughts.’ Ash and co. are on the road as usual today. Their destination is Ash’s hometown of Pallet. It had been a long and bumpy road and it was starting to get to the group. Ash: Man there’s just no end to this forest. Pikachu: I’m tired Misty: Yeah can we please stop before I collapse? Brock: I’m with you guys. The three sat down on some near by rocks in order to catch their breath. Ash: Man it’s gonna feel nice to take a break for a change when I get back home. Misty: Don’t take too much of a break Ash or you might forget your skills. Ash: Hey! Are you saying that I’m forgetful? Misty: Let me just put it this way Ketchem, your not forgetful your just the most dense person on the face of this planet! Ash: Why you! Brock: Stop it you two! Misty for the first time I have to say you started that one. Misty: Yeah right, this kid still owes me a bike! I can’t believe you still haven’t paid me back! Ash: When are you just going to forget about that stupid bike? This repetitive cycle kept on going for a good half-hour like it had since the three trainers began their adventure. The fighting only subsided when the sky got dark all of the sudden and lightning started to flash. Brock: Whoa, we had better find some shelter. Misty: Yeah, Ash truce for now? Ash: No, how about we just forget this stupid fight it gets so old after all this time. This surprising change in Ash was shocking to Misty and Brock for that matter. Misty: ‘Man I would never expect that from Ash. He always will retaliate later. Maybe this means that things between us can finally change.’ Ash: ‘Arguing with Misty is pointless. How am I ever going to tell her how I feel if I keep fighting with her. Damn, why do I love her so much?’ Ash let out a sigh as the group continued to run through the rain as it began to pick up. Ash tried to seal Pikachu in his jacket, but the rain just kept getting harder. Brock: We have to find some shelter! Alas, there were no pokemon centers or houses within sight. Ash continued to protect pikachu from the rain to the best of his abilities. Just then Ash looked at the sky. Ash: ‘That’s odd, I’ve never seen green lightning before.’ The lightning began to get more intense, but Ash continued to run with his friends in search of shelter. Ash: Guys, does this storm seem a bit weird to you? Brock: No, why? Misty: Not really. Ash: Well… Then Ash noticed the lightning got more intense. It seemed to be surrounding him in an odd vortex. Ash tried yell out to his friends, but he couldn’t hear himself speak. He noticed the lightning beginning to flash closer and closer to him. Ash: ‘What’s going on here?’ Then all of the sudden a huge lightning bolt came down directly on Ash. Ash: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Ash then saw a blinding flash in front of his eyes. The rest of his body felt like it was in fire. The pain just kept burning and burning, then darkness. Ash: Ugh, where am I? Ash slowly opened his eyes. He wasn’t in the forest, he wasn’t anywhere he knew. His body felt like it had a ton of bricks on every square inch of it. He tried to move, but his bones were so stiff. He felt as if he hadn’t eaten in days. Ash then moved his eyes around the room. It was a small room surrounded in white light. There were a number of machines on the side of his bed, they were connected to tubes that were going in to numerous points in his body. Ash then felt his eyes get heavy and he was forced to close them. In what seemed like a second Ash was fast asleep. Voice: Ash? Ash can you hear me? Ash slowly opened his eyes to see a blurred image looking over him. Ash tried to speak, but his voice was raspy and hoarse. Ash: Who are you? Doctor: Ash I’m your doctor. You’ve been in a coma. Ash: Coma? Doctor: Yes Ash, you’ve been in a coma for five years. Ash felt his heart skip a beat when the man said those words. His vision finally came clear and was faced with an enormous dilemma. Ash: Coma? Ash moved his arms slightly. With renewed strength he looked at his arms. Ash: ‘How did my arms get so big? How did I get this tall? What the heck is going on here?’ A million questions zoomed through Ash’s mind. The last thing he remembered was being in the forest and getting hit by lightning. Doctor: Ash, I guess there is some explaining to do on my part. Your mother told me that you woke up late to get your pokemon from Professor Oak so you ran to his lab. When you darted across the street you didn’t see a car coming and it hit you head on. Ash’s heart was racing, he didn’t remember any of this. Ash: ‘Wait a minute, I remember something on that day. When I was running across the street I remember one car coming close, but I dodged it. Didn’t I?’ Doctor: We thought you were dead when you got here, but you held on. You slipped in to a coma and we couldn’t get you to wake up. We’ve been keeping your body healthy as much as we could, but you didn’t wake up. You exhibited some odd brain patterns over the years you were in that coma. Ash tried to let this sink in. Ash: But, I didn’t hit that car. I got past it and got my pokemon. I went on my journey and won badges, caught pokemon, and met my friends. Then it came to him, but the doctor was the first to explain it. Doctor: Ash your mind showed some odd signs for years. You weren’t hurt mentally, but physically you were. From the information I have gathered your mind must have been under a state of constant dreaming for the whole time you were in a coma. Ash was silent. He couldn’t believe it. Everything he had done and everything he had been through like pikachu, his badges, and Misty were all dreams. Ash: ‘It was all a dream. It never really happened.’ Doctor: You need to regain your strength. I’ll let you rest. Call us if you need anything like food or something. The doctor then left the room. Ash was left in his bed, paralyzed by the situation. He felt like just crying right then and there. Ash just laid back and thought about it all. Ash: ‘Now what am I going to do. What’s going to happen now?’ Ash just tried to reconcile his thoughts. He occasionally drifted in and out of sleep. Then after what seemed like hours he decided to go to sleep again. He kept hoping that this was all just a terrible nightmare, but it wasn’t. Ash woke up the next morning to the same sight. For the first time in a long time he felt hungry and got some food from the nurse. Then something came to him. Ash: ‘It was all a dream, but I can’t just sit here thinking about it. No matter how great of a dream it was, I guess there’s only one thing to do. Start over and do it again.’ The thought wasn’t to appealing, but he had no choice. Ash let out a big sigh. Then he heard his door open. It was someone that he hadn’t seen for a long time. Ash: Mom? Delia: Oh Ash honey thank god you’re okay! I thought I lost you forever! His mom ran up to his bedside and gave him a big hug. Ash hugged back, savoring the first real hug he had in a long time. He could feel his mom cry on to him. Ash: It’s okay mom. I’m okay. Delia: Ash you have no idea how scared I was. I thought you were going to die just like your father. Ash: I’m sorry mom. Ash just embraced the feeling for a good long while. He was glad to finally see someone he knew. His mother let him in on what happened since he was hospitalized. Without Ash, Gary ran over the competition in the pokemon league. He was an official pokemon master already. Ash was 16 now and so was Gary. Other than that not much was changed in his absence. Ash: Mom, I know you might not approve of this, but I still want to go on my journey. I still have a goal to fulfill. Delia: Ash are you sure? Maybe you should take this as a sign. Ash: No mom, I have a dream and I have to see it through. Delia: But why? Ash: Let’s just say for honor. It was clear that Ash wasn’t going take no for an answer. Rather than fight Delia reluctantly accepted to let Ash go on his journey after he was out. It didn’t take long for Ash to recover from his bed. Although his muscles were extremely inactive physically, mentally he had kept them from deteriorating. After a brief stay at physical rehab, Ash finally went home. Ash’s first task was to call Professor Oak. Professor Oak: Hello, Professor Oak speaking. Who is this? Ash: Hey professor, you might not remember me but… Professor Oak: Oh my word, is that you Ash?! Ash: Yeah, it’s me. Professor Oak: I don’t believe it! I thought you were dead! Ash: No professor, just in a coma. Professor Oak: Still, it’s hard to believe it. I saw you after that car hit you. Professor Oak made a cringed face when he mentioned the memory. Ash: Well it’s amazing what you can survive, but listen professor; I know I may be five years late, but do you still have a pokemon for me at your lab? Professor Oak: Of coarse Ash! I have an all new array of pokemon from Johto and Kanto alike. Ash: Great, I’ll be over there tomorrow to choose one. Professor Oak: Great Ash. I can’t wait. Ash: Thanks professor, see you tomorrow. Professor: See you Ash, it’s great to see you alive again! Ash hung up the phone after that. Although Professor Oak’s tone was one of surprise, Ash had a melancholy voice as he spoke. His experience from the coma had greatly changed him to a more humble personality. Ash then went to his room and lay down on the bed. His room was exactly how he remembered it. All of his pokemon stuff was still there and all of his books were exactly how he had left them. Ash: ‘Hard to believe, but I guess I’m gonna do it all over again. But how am I gonna know this time is real? How am I gonna know if anything is real?’ Ash just stared at the ceiling pondering these questions until he fell asleep. The next morning Ash woke up early to get to Professor Oak’s on time. Ash: ‘No sense in making the same mistake twice.’ After grabbing a quick breakfast Ash made his way down the street to the lab. This time he was more careful when he crossed the street. He made it in the lab safely this time and went to Professor Oak’s lab room. Professor Oak: Ash, you made it! Ash: Yeah, sorry I’m five years late. Professor Oak: Well as they say, better late then never. Now let’s get you a pokemon. Professor Oak displayed Ash several pokeballs on a table. Professor Oak: I have a wide new range of pokemon to start with. I have an Eevee, an Abra, a Bulbasaur… Ash looked at his choices, but then a thought came to his mind. Ash: ‘I wonder if anybody took pikachu. Man I miss it. I wonder…’ Professor Oak kept listing the new pokemon he had one by one. Professor Oak: Well Ash, take your pick. Ash: Professor, you wouldn’t happen to have another pokemon that trainers didn’t want did you? Professor Oak: What do you mean? Ash: I mean do you have a troublesome pokemon that hates humans, like a pikachu. Professor Oak looked stunned briefly at Ash’s perceptive abilities. Professor Oak: Why yes, I do have one pesky pikachu that nobody seems to be able to tame. Ash: Well, with your permission could I have that one? Professor Oak: Sure, but it may be difficult. Ash: I’m willing to take that chance. Professor Oak: Alright then, here it is. Professor Oak then pushed a button and another pokeball came out on to the table. Ash waited anxiously to see if it was the pikachu that he remembered. When the light from the pokeball was clear, Ash stood in amazement. Pikachu: Finally. Ash: ‘I don’t believe it! It’s really the pikachu I remember!’ Ash looked at the little pokemon and saw every mark and every hair from his friend from his dream was there. Ash: Professor, I’ll take it. Ash didn’t force pikachu in to the pokeball because he assumed it didn’t like it when it said “finally” when it got out. After a quick visit to pick up his stuff at his house and a heart felt goodbye, Ash left on his journey once again. Thing’s weren’t that much different then his dream. Pikachu wouldn’t let Ash within a yard of it without giving him a shock. Ash chose to carry it with his rubber gloves. Ash: Pikachu, do you really want to act like this the whole way? Pikachu: Hey, suites me. Ash: Why does it suite you. Don’t you want to grow and develop in to a strong pokemon? Pikachu: Yeah, hey wait a minute? You understood me? Ash then got an idea. He set pikachu down and took off his rubber gloves. Ash: Of coarse I understand you, why do you think I didn’t make you go in the pokeball? Pikachu: … Ash: Here, I’m your friend see. I know humans haven’t treated you nicely in the past, but I can show you I’m different, see. Ash then reached over and scratched pikachu behind his left ear. In his dream that is where pikachu loved to be scratched the most. Pikachu: Mmmm. ‘Hey, that feels good.’ Ash: You’ll never know if a trainer will treat you well if you don’t give him a chance. Consider this my peace offering. Ash then reached in to his backpack and pulled out a bottle of ketchup that his mom packed. He then opened it up and took some on his finger and put it near pikachu’s mouth. Ash: Go on ahead, taste it. Pikachu looked strangely at the concoction, but tried it anyway and licked it off of Ash’s finger. Pikachu: Wow! That tastes great! Ash: Here, have some more. Ash gave the whole bottle to pikachu and let it slurp it down. Ash could see the little pokemon loved ketchup just as much as it had in his dream. Ash: You see Pikachu, I’m not gonna hurt you. How about it, will you let me be your trainer? Pikachu looked at his new friend with a warm smile. Pikachu: ‘He’s different.’ Okay why not. Ash: Great! Here, you can ride on my shoulder. Pikachu then jumped up on its new friend’s shoulder and the two began to walk down the road. Then Ash saw something out of the corner of his eye. Ash: Look pikachu, a raticate! Let’s try and catch it! Pikachu: Okay. Pikachu leaped off Ash’s shoulder confronted the big mouse. Pikachu had not been in a battle in a long time. The raticate clearly looked angry. Pikachu: Ash, what do I do. Ash: Jump! Pikachu did exactly as it was told and was surprised to see the raticate jump right under it after attempting an attack. Ash: Now pikachu, concentrate and shock that rat with a thundershock! Pikachu began to charge up. Ash: Come on pikachu, concentrate! Pikachu closed its little eyes and let out a huge shock wave that knocked the raticate out cold. Ash then easily caught it with a pokeball. Pikachu stood amazed at what it had done. Pikachu: ‘I had no idea I could do that.’ Wow. Ash: Great job pikachu, I knew you could do it. Ash gave pikachu a hug and let it back on his shoulder. Pikachu: ‘This guy is different. I think that this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.’ The road was exactly as Ash had remembered it. He crossed the same pokemon along the road and the river. This knowledge allowed him to catch a manky, magikarp, and pidgeotto. Ash: ‘Wow, I didn’t have this many pokemon by now in my dream.’ Ash then saw something on a hill. It was a sparow. Ash sent pikachu out to weaken it, but before he could catch it in a pokeball the pokemon let out a loud screech. Ash: Oh no, that better not be what I think it is. Ash looked behind him and saw a huge flock of sparrow and a few very large fearow in front of the pack. Ash: Oh no, run! Ash scooped up pikachu and ran down the riverside. He was fast, but the birds were faster. They relentlessly pecked Ash’s back, face, and arms. However, Ash continued to try and protect pikachu. Then something came in to his sight in the distance. It was a girl with fishing equipment walking along the path. As Ash got closer he recognized her. Ash: ‘It can’t be! It is! It’s really her, it’s Misty!’ It really was the girl from his dreams. Ash didn’t have a lot of time to notice how much Misty had “grown” since his dream, but he had other problems to worry about at the moment. Ash looked behind him and saw that the birds would start pecking Misty if he didn’t get her out of the way. Ash: ‘I’ve got to protect her. She may not know me, but I remember her.’ Hey, you! Look out! Misty: Huh? Misty saw a boy around her age clutching on to a pokemon running towards her. By the time she noticed the severity of the situation Ash acted on an impulse. When he got along side Misty he shoved her off to the side of a ditch that was behind a large tree. Misty landed in the soft damp grass and saw the flock of birds pass her by from her area. She then watched as the swarm zeroed in on the trainer who had just saved her life. Misty: Who on earth was that? Ash felt slightly relieved that he had saved Misty, but the birds were still closing in. Rain began to fall as Ash felt his muscles start to give out. Then as the rain picked up he tripped over small rock and braced himself. The flock systematically thrashed Ash’s helpless body. Then Ash looked up from the pain and saw the birds swooping in for the kill. Ash: Don’t worry pikachu, I’ll keep them from hurting you. Pikachu: NO! Pikachu watched as Ash stood up and shielded it with his own body. Ash: Come on you dopey birds! You want me, come and get me! Pikachu watched as Ash braced himself once again for an attack, when it decided to pay him back. Pikachu leaped over Ash’s shoulder and a huge bolt of lightning engulfed the tiny mouse. Then pikachu let out the mother of all thunderbolts. Within seconds sparrows and fearows started falling like hailstones and Ash and Pikachu blacked out. Within a half-hour Ash woke up and saw an exhausted pikachu laying beside him. Ash: Well, we beat em. Pikachu: Yeah. Ash cringed as he stood up and staggered to the fainted fearow. He lightly tossed a pokeball at it and caught it with little resistance. Pikachu looked to weak to walk because of the massive jolt of electricity it had absorbed. Ash: Don’t worry pikachu, I’ll get you some help. Ash staggered over to pikachu and picked it up. Even though Ash was badly battered and bruised he pushed himself to get to the nearest pokemon center. Pikachu: ‘I can’t believe it a human with a real heart. Thank you Ash. I promise to never let you down, for I am forever in your debt.’ Pikachu passed out once again, but not before giving Ash a lick on the chin to show it’s thanks. Through agonizing pain Ash began to run to the next city. Ash: ‘If this is how I have to go through my journey, so be it.’ Ash kept pushing himself harder and harder until the Viridian City was finally within sight. Ash could feel his body giving out again, but he kept trying to hold on for pikachu’s sake. Miraculously, Ash made it in to the pokemon center. He used the last of his strength to let out a raspy call. Ash: Help. Nurse Joy saw the boy and pokemon stumble in and imediately had two chanseys rush the both of them to the ER. Ash was set in a hospital bed so his wounds could be treated and pikachu was rushed to a rejuvenation quarter. Luckily, both survived with no permanent injuries. Ash stayed in a room to rest while pikachu was healed with the rest of Ash’s pokemon. Later that evening Misty walked through the doors of the pokemon center. Misty: Hey Nurse Joy. Nurse Joy: Hello Misty! Nice to see you again! Misty: Thanks, you too. Could you heal my pokemon for me? Nurse Joy: Sure, just put them in this trey. Misty: Thanks, man what a day. I’m tired. Nurse Joy: You’re telling me, my day was pretty crazy. Misty: How? Nurse Joy: Well it started off like any other day, but then this afternoon some trainer stumbled in to the center with a wounded pikachu. They were hurt pretty badly. Misty: Wait, did you say pikachu? Nurse Joy: Yeah, why? Misty: I remember a kid and his pikachu along a trail earlier today. I wonder if it’s the same guy. Nurse Joy, can I see this trainer? Nurse Joy: Sure, here is the key card, just go down that hall and his room is the third door on your left. Misty: Thanks. Misty took the card and made her way to Ash’s room. When she got to the room she opened the door and saw the same trainer who saved her life earlier that day. He had the same black hair, brown eyes, and the same face she remembered. Misty: So this is where you are. Ash: ‘Oh my, it’s her. It’s Misty, man she sure has grown since my dream. Okay, be cool Ketchem, just remember you haven’t met her before so don’t screw up.’ Ash felt nervous looking at a girl he knew so well, but hadn’t really met. He hoped she was the same angel from his dream. Ash: Hey, you’re that girl from the river. Misty: Yeah, and your that boy who saved my life back there. Ash: Well, I… Misty could tell he was a little flattered. She smiled lightly at his shyness and decided to get to know her hero. Misty: So what’s your name? Ash: Uh, Ash. Ash Ketchem, I’m a new trainer from Pallet Town. Misty: Nice to meet you, my name is Misty Waterflower and I’m from Cerulean City. Ash: Nice to meet you Misty ‘again.’ Misty: So you say you’re a trainer? Ash: Yep. Misty: So am I. I’m training to be a water pokemon expert. Ash: That’s cool, I’m training to be a pokemon master. Misty: Wow, that’s great. Listen um, thank you for saving my life back there. Ash blushed a little. Ash: Uh, you’re very welcome. Misty: You took quite a beating. And I didn’t even get a scratch. Ash, I need to know, is there something I can do to return the favor? Ash: No that’s okay. I’m just glad you’re okay. Misty was shocked by Ash’s humility. He was in the hospital for somebody he didn’t know (technically that is). Misty: Ash, surely there’s something I can give you. Ash: No, that’s okay. Misty: Come on, I have my dignity! Ash: ‘She’s right.’ Just then a thought popped in to Ash’s mind. Ash: ‘In my dream Misty followed me because I broke her bike. She never forgave me for it and hounded me for the entire journey. Maybe I can make her follow me for a different reason.’ Ash: Well, there is one thing. Misty: Name it. Ash: I’m not that familiar with many of the cities. Are you? Misty: Yeah, why? Ash: Well, I guess you could act as my guide on my quest to gain all the badges for the pokemon league. That and I guess I could use some human company. Misty didn’t have to think long about this deal. It was a chance to not be alone for once and have somebody to talk to in her travels. That and there was something else. Misty: Deal, you saved my life so I’ll be your guide and traveling buddy. Ash: Thanks, deal. Misty shook Ash’s hand to seal their agreement. Misty: ‘His hand is so warm.’ She quickly dispensed the thought. Misty: Well you should be out of here soon. I’m going to get a room for the night. I’ll see you tomorrow Ash. Goodnight. Ash: Goodnight Misty. Misty left after that and Ash was left to ponder the recent events. Ash: ‘She’s the same girl from my dreams and so is pikachu. They both are the same. I knew things about them before I even met them. I got pikachu to help me catch more pokemon and I got Misty to be my friend for a much better reason. Now, maybe things can change. If everything is like it was in my dream, I’m going to make the best of this opportunity and fix my mistakes. I’ll win the matches I lost, I’ll catch the pokemon I missed, and I’ll be a better friend to the ones I care about.’ Ash repeated that vow for a little while until he fell asleep. Since the doctors had healed the majority of his wounds when he came in he just needed to sleep it off. The next morning Misty was the first to wake up. She packed her things and got some breakfast; then she went to Ash’s room to meet up with him. When she got there Ash was still in bed half-asleep. Misty: Hey wake up sleepy head. Ash: I’m up, I’m up. Just a little groggy. Ash got out of bed to get his things. It was around this time Misty realized that Ash wasn’t wearing a shirt causing her to blush at the sight. She quickly hid it from Ash’s sight though. After Ash had packed his things Nurse Joy came in. Nurse Joy: Morning Ash, how are you feeling? Ash: Much better, thanks. I’m ready to leave as soon as my pokemon are ready. Nurse Joy: That’s what I came here for. Nurse joy bought in a cart with Ash’s pokeballs and pikachu sitting on top. Ash: Pikachu! Pikachu: Ash, you’re alright! Pikachu gave his friend a big hug. Misty: Aw, a pikachu! How cute! Ash: Oh yeah, pikachu this is Misty, she’s going to be our guide and traveling buddy for our journey. Pikachu: Hi! Misty promptly scooped it up and gave pikachu a big hug and began petting it like a stuffed animal. Ash: Come on you two. Let’s get going. Ash then signed out of the pokemon center and the group was officially on it’s way. Ash: Well, Pewter City here I come. Ash, Misty, and pikachu made their way through Viridian Forest. The events Ash had experienced in his dream were relatively the same. He caught caterpie, he caught a weedle, watched both of them evolve from encounters with bug catchers, and battled the samurai effortlessly. Misty: Boy Ash you sure seem to know what you’re doing for a beginner. Ash: Uh, well, I guess I just prepared longer to gain more experience before I started. Misty: Well, based on your performance today, I’d say that was a smart decision. Ash: ‘Whoa! Did Misty actually say I did something smart and was that just a compliment? She sure is different since I didn’t break her bike.’ Thanks Misty. Since Ash had been through the forest in his dream, he was able to reach Pewter City by the early evening hours. Ash: Finnally, Pewter City! Misty: Yeah I’m sick of walking around a bug infested forest! Ash: Come on Misty lighten up, bugs aren’t that bad. Misty: Oh yes they are and don’t even think about letting out beedrill on me. I just hate bugs! Ash: ‘Yep, still the same Misty.’ Okay, just don’t scream when I have to use them in battle. Speaking of which let’s get to the pokemon center and rest a bit. I want to challenge Brock before tonight. Pikachu: Oh man, Ash I’m tired can’t we do it tomorrow. Misty: Why don’t you give you’re pokemon a rest. Ash sighed knowing it wasn’t a good thing to go up against Brock with tired pokemon. Ash: In that case I’m gonna grab a bite to eat. Wanna come with? Misty blushed slightly at that comment because it sounded like a date, but she quickly shook it off. Misty: Nah I’m not that hungry yet. I’ll get us rooms at the pokemon center and maybe get a shower. I’ve got to rinse this bug smell out of my hair. Ash: Alright, suite yourself. The two headed off in opposite directions and Ash made his way to a near by restaurant to get some noodles and chicken. He also stopped at a burger stand to get pikachu some ketchup. After eating Ash went exploring around the city. Ash: ‘Hmm, it looks like the same city from my dream. I see the same people and the same places. How much more can there be the same of?’ When darkness began falling Ash began to get tired and headed back to the pokemon center. He went up to the front desk to see another Nurse Joy. Ash didn’t bother asking since he knew why. Ash: Hey Nurse Joy. Nurse Joy: Oh hi, it’s you. You’re that trainer from Viridian my sister told me about. Are you okay? Ash: Yeah I’m fine, I just needed to sleep the wounds off. Nurse Joy: That’s a relief. By the way your girlfriend came by and got the last room available. Here is the key it’s just down the hall and to the right. Ash: Thanks, but she’s not my girlfriend. Nurse Joy: Oh, sorry. Ash: It’s alright. Ash took the key and dropped pikachu off with the rest of his pokemon for rejuvenation. When Ash got to the room Misty had already showered and gotten ready for bed. Misty: Hey Ash. Ash: Hey did you get something to eat? Misty: Yeah I had some food in my backpack. Ash: Cool, I’m going to take a shower. Misty: Okay. By the way I call the bed! Ash was about to retaliate, but then had a thought. Ash: ‘Better not argue with her. I don’t want to provoke her or anything.’ After Ash had showered he put on some sleeping attire and the two watched TV for a while and talked about random things and enjoying each other’s company. When it got late Ash got a blanket and slept on the couch near the side of the bed so Misty could get some sleep. The two fell asleep after a short while. Later that night Ash woke up to get some water. Ash: ‘Man, I’m thirsty. I had better get a good night rest if I’m going to beat Brock this time.’ Ash got some water and groggily went back to the couch, but before he got there he looked over at Misty. She was fast asleep already. Ash: ‘Man she’s beautiful, more beautiful than in my dream. I promise you Misty, I’ll make up for those mistakes I made in that dream. I’ll protect you, I’ll be more understanding, and above all I’ll be a better friend to you. I promise.’ After looking at her face for a few more minutes Ash went back to sleep on the couch thinking of the promise he had just made. The next mourning Ash woke up early to prepare for his match with Brock. He left before Misty could wake up and picked up his pokemon. After having a light breakfast Ash began to head to the gym. On his way he saw a familiar face. It was Flint. Flint: Are you going to try and face Brock? Ash: Yeah, why? Flint: Don’t bother, you are a beginner and Brock is out of your league. Ash: Don’t worry, I’m more advanced then I look. Flint: That’s what they all say before they go home crying from defeat. Ash became agitated from this criticism. He had heard it many times before in his dream, but nobody knew that. Ash: ‘I wonder.’ I’ll be okay Flint. Flint: Huh? How did you know my name? Flint stood in slight shock at the stranger’s revelation. Ash: I know a bit more that just your name. I know that you are actually Brock’s father and you left him and his mother to become a pokemon trainer. However, you failed and Brock’s mother passed away and you haven’t been able to go back because of shame. A slow smile began to creep across Ash’s face as he saw the amazed look on Flint’s face. Flint: Who are you? Are you a psychic or something? Flint took a step back from the trainer. Ash: No, but I can be considered someone who isn’t what he seems. Flint, I know you don’t know me, but that’s not important. What is important is your family and not your pride. Ash then walked passed an amazed Flint. Ash could tell that his opinion of Ash had changed. As Ash walked in to the gym he noticed that other trainers were rushing out of the gym to treat their wounded pokemon. Ash: Pikachu, do you think you’re ready? Pikachu: I know I am. I won’t let you down Ash! Ash then confronted the familiar face from his dream. It was the same squinty-eyed guy he knew. He was a bit older, but other than that he didn’t change much from Ash’s perspective. Brock: So, another one dares to challenge me. Ash: Yep, my name is Ash Ketchem and I’m here to challenge you for a boulder badge! Brock: You’ve got a bumpy road ahead of you. I can assure you I’m not as easy as those bug catchers. Ash: Less boasting, more battling. The two began a two pokemon battle, but Brock’s boasts were no match for Ash’s hidden abilities. He used his knowledge from his dream and had butterfree use confusion and beedrill use poison to easily beat Brock. The gym leader was stunned. Brock: I don’t believe it! I got beat by a novice! Ash: Don’t be so hard on yourself, I’m more experienced than I look. Voice: That he definitely is. Brock: Huh? Who is there? Flint: It’s me, Brock, your father. I met this boy before he came in. Looks like he told the truth. Brock we need to talk. Brock: Okay dad. Ash, congratulations on your victory, here is your boulder badge. Ash: Thanks, I’ll leave you two alone. Brock: Thanks. Ash left the two to talk and Ash went back to the pokemon center to get his things. When he got there Misty was awake and reading a book on water pokemon. Ash: Hey Mist. Misty: Ash, where did you go. Ash: I was just out getting my boulder badge. Ash then showed his accomplishment to her. Misty: Wow, not bad for a beginner. Pikachu: Yeah, he kicked butt! Ash: ‘Man I hate being called a beginner. Oh well, I’ll tell them some day.’ You got that right. So now that I got this badge, what do you say we get back on the road to get the next one? Misty: Sounds good to me. Let’s just stay here until lunch, it’s too early to leave just yet. Ash: Okay, I’m cool with that. After getting lunch and re-supplying their rations Ash, Misty, and Pikachu began to leave the city. But before they could get out of the city limits somebody caught up to them. Brock: Hey Ash, wait! Ash: Hey Brock! What are you doing here? Brock: I had a talk with my dad. After all this time away from us he said he finally wants to come back and run the gym and take care of my siblings. Now I can go off and fulfill my dream of becoming a pokemon breeder. Ash: That’s great to hear Brock! Brock: I was coming to tell you because I was wondering if I could travel with you. You have something special Ash and I owe you for getting my dad to see the light. Ash: Well I’m happy to have you with us. Any disagreements Misty, pikachu? Misty: Oh why not, the more the better. Pikachu: Sure! Brock: Great! Where are we heading to now? Ash: Cerulean City to get a cascade badge. Brock saw Misty’s face cringe when she heard that, but he didn’t say anything. Ash knew that Misty wouldn’t want to go there, so he had a plan to either beat her sisters or follow the same path as in his dream to get Misty to barge in and challenge him. Either way was fine with Ash. The new trio walked outside of Pewter City and started on the road towards the next badge. The group kept walking until they made camp in a clearing for the night. Brock: Wait till you taste my rice balls. You’ll love them. Misty: I hope so. Ash: ‘Heck, I’ve already tasted them.’ Me too. Brock: So you want to be a pokemon master Ash? Ash: Yep, I’ve been preparing for years. Brock: That would explain your unusual skill. Misty: Yeah, not many beginners are as far as you are. Ash: Thanks. Ash felt strange about lying to his friends, but he thought that it was for the best. They ate by the light of a campfire and proceeded to rest for the long road ahead of them. Late that night, Ash was restless. He kept thinking about his journey so far. Ash: ‘Well, the friends from my dream are here in the flesh. Everything has been the same as my dream was. It feels like I went back in time magically. Now I know I have been gifted. Why I don’t know, but I will make the best of it. From now on I am a new Ash Ketchem. I know when team rocket will attack, I know what pokemon I can catch, and I know what my opponents will do. So far everything has been the same and I vow to fix my mistakes and achieve my dream. This time it’s for real.’ Ash soon fell asleep after that vow. The road ahead of him was long and hard, but this time he wasn’t going through it blind. Over the next few days the group had their pre- destined encounters with team rocket and went to Mount Moon where Ash caught a clefable. This truly was only the beginning of a journey that Ash Ketchem was embarking upon. THREE YEARS LATER… In the three years Ash has been on the road, he encountered every minute detail once again of his dream. He caught more pokemon, won more battles, and became a better trainer. From his adventure with Mewtwo to his journey with Lugia, Ash went through obstacles as an older wiser Ash Ketchem. He did do some things different, however, he went straight to the Orange Islands and Johto League before going to Indigo. He wanted to get all the pokemon he got and go through everything before his main test at Indigo. Brock: Well, now what are you going to do Ash now that you got the Johto badges? Ash: Why, the next step of coarse. I’m going to the Indigo league fulfill my goal! Misty: You know Ash, you could have done that a long time ago after you beat Viridian Gym. Ash: I know, I just think that getting these additional badges will help me in the Indigo league. ‘And besides, I don’t want to make the same mistake twice. This time I want to finish 1st’ Brock: That’s some good planning Ash, but do you really think you can beat the Elite Four? Misty: That’s a dumb question Brock. From what I’ve seen over the last few years, if anybody and do it Ash can. Pikachu: Yeah! Ash: Gee, thanks Misty. ‘No matter how many times I hear that I don’t think I’ll ever get use to Misty having faith in me. But it is much nicer than the discouragement she gave me in my dream.’ Ash felt good about his friend’s encouragement. He knew that would help him greatly in the final step towards achieving his goal. The trio began the long trip back to Pallet Town to prepare for Ash’s big challenge. Everybody was excited about it except Misty. She was the only one who wasn’t as enthusiastic about it. Why, was a big secret that she had been keeping for quite some time. On the way to Pallet the trio had to make camp one night and Ash was the one who was stuck getting firewood with pikachu. Misty used this opportunity to get some advice from a desperate source. Misty: Hey Brock can you keep a secret? Brock: Yeah, why? Misty put Togepi to bed so she could talk in private. Misty: Are you sure? You won’t tell anybody, or I’ll rip your head of? Brock: Uh, sure. Misty: Well, the thing is this up coming Indigo League Ash is going to be in. Brock: Oh I wouldn’t worry about Ash. I would say that guy has a real good chance at beating the crowd. Misty: It’s not that. It’s just that I made him a deal not long after I met him. I told him that because he saved my life I would be his guide on his journey. Brock: Yeah, and? Misty: Brock can’t you see? Ash’s journey will end if he wins and if it ends there’s no more reason for me to guide him. And if I am no longer needed, I’ve paid him back and there is no need for me to see him. Brock: Oh, I’m sure you’ll still see him… Just then Brock put two and two together. He finally got it. A big goofy grin formed on his face. Brock: Oh, Oh I see! You don’t want to leave him do you? Misty: Well, no. Brock: And you’ve just been using that whole ‘saved my life’ bit as an excuse. Misty: Uh. Brock: You really travel with Ash cause you got the hots for him don’t you? Misty: Well… Brock: I knew it! I knew it! You’re ga ga for that guy aren’t you? Misty: I… Brock: ASH AND MISTY SITTIN IN A TREE, K-I-S-S-I-N-G! Misty: SHUT UP ROCK HEAD! Brock did stop, but he was still grinning like a loon. Misty: Okay, so maybe I do like him. Maybe I do like him a lot, but what do I do? Brock: What do you do? Why you tell him of coarse! Misty: No! I can’t tell him! Brock: Why not? Misty’s expression changed to a sad, sorrowful one. Misty: Because I don’t think he feels the same way about me. We’re so close, as it is. If I tell him I love him it might tear us apart. Brock: And if you keep it a secret it will eat you alive and you might loose him. Misty had reached the same dilemma as she had countless times in her head. She stared in to the campfire. She felt overcome with anxiety and breathed a deep sigh. Misty: I just don’t know what I’ll do. Brock looked at her in a worried face. Brock: Look, I can’t force you to do anything, but you’ve got to tell him. Until then I will not tell anybody. Misty: Thanks Brock. I’m tired I need to get some sleep. Brock: But it’s early. Misty: I just need to think. Misty went in to her sleeping bag and began to rest her eyes. Not long after that Ash got back with some firewood. He saw Misty sleeping and kept quiet to keep from waking her. That night after everybody had gone to sleep, Ash did what he did a lot and sat admiring Misty’s beauty. Ash: ‘Some day, Misty. Some day. Ash went to sleep after that chanting those words again and again. Time was running out and Ash and Misty were both in danger of losing each other. The next day the trio was able to reach Pallet Town. Their first stop was Professor Oak so they could get Ash registered. Professor Oak: I’m surprised Ash! I never thought you would do this good on your journey! Ash: Thanks professor, but now I think I’m ready for the league. Professor Oak: You’re in luck Ash, the next big league will be in two months. Ash: Great, can I register? Professor Oak: I’ve already taken the liberty of doing that for you. Ash: Thanks Professor! Professor Oak: Your welcome Ash, I see tremendous potential in you. I think you truly have a chance at the league. Ash: I hope so. Come on Pikachu, lets go home. Pikachu: Okay. Ash and Pikachu left the lab after that and met Brock and Misty outside. Misty: Well, did you register Ash? Ash: Yep! Professor Oak already did that for me. Brock: Wow, that was nice of him. So when does the tournament start? Ash: Two Months. Misty: What are you going to do until then? Ash: What else? Stay at my mom’s and train. Besides I haven’t seen her in such a long time. After that the trio made their way back to Ash’s house to see his mother. Ash was a little anxious since he hadn’t seen her in three years and he hadn’t even fully introduced her to his two friends. After making his way down the familiar streets he reached his house. Ash’s mom was in the front yard gardening when she saw her son and ran up and gave him a big hug. Delia: Ash, honey, you’re home! Ash: Yep, I missed you mom. After a big hug Ash decided to introduce his two friends standing near them. Ash: Mom, I know I’ve been telling you about my friends for a while now so here they are. Mom, this is Brock Slate from Pewter City. Brock: Hi! Delia: Pleased to meet you. Ash: And this is Misty Waterflower from Cerulean City. Misty: Hello Mrs. Ketchem. Delia: Well hello Misty, it’s nice to finally meet you. Ash heard the sneaky tone in his mom’s voice and knew there was some explaining to do. When she bought the group inside she spoke to Ash in private. Delia: Ash, honey, you never told me much about Misty over the phone. Tell me about her. There was that sneaky tone again, Ash began to panic and decided to fabricate something. Ash: Well…She’s just my friend. She said she vowed to help me on my journey in return for saving her life. At least that’s what she says. Delia: Is that all? Ash: Mom! Yes, that’s it we’re just friends. Delia: Okay honey, okay. Ash could tell his mother didn’t believe him. Ash: ‘I hope she doesn’t try anything.’ Delia could tell that her son had something going for Misty. She constantly saw him starring at her and spacing out around her. However, she chose not to intertwine with her son’s love life, but that didn’t stop her from hounding him. Delia: Hey Ash, could you help me with the dishes? Ash: Oh, okay. Ash didn’t like doing the dishes too much, but he couldn’t say no. Delia: So hon, you’ve got a while until the league starts. What are you going to do until then? Ash: I’m just going to prepare. ‘Cause I don’t want to make the same mistake as last time.’ Delia: Is that all? There’s more to do than just train pokemon. There are restaurants, movies, and other things. You know, Misty might want to go to some of this places with you. Ash scowled at his mother’s harassment, no matter how true it was. Ash: Mom! Please, we’re just friends. That’s it! Delia: Okay, just think you should keep that in mind. Ash could tell his mom knew how he felt about Misty. The more he denied it the harder it was to keep it in. For the next two months Ash just kept on training while his mom kept on harassing him about his dilemma with Misty. Ash: ‘Man does the whole world have to make my world a living hell?’ After a long time of preparation the young trainer was finally ready to head to Indigo. Ash, pikachu, and his friends left on the road towards the stadium. As Ash had predicted he encountered the same obstacles as he did before in his dream. The encounters had become so routine for Ash it was almost a bore for him. Team rocket and the people from his dream had no idea about Ash’s “second sight.” After a long trip the group made it to the Indigo stadium. Ash: Ah, we’re finally here. ‘Again.’ Brock: And so are multiple Joys and Jennies. I like those odds. Misty: Down boy. Don’t embarrass us all again. Ash: Look who your talking to. The first match was tomorrow and Ash was staying at a near by hotel to prepare. Ash: Well pikachu, it’s been a long road since the day I first met you. It took time to get your trust, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Pikachu: Really? Ash: Really, really. You can win this thing pikachu. I know you can because I’ve seen you over the years. You’ve grown and there is no way any pokemon can match your heart. Pikachu: Thanks Ash. I promise not to let you down. I will be the best because I owe you so much. Ash: Thanks buddy. Now get some sleep, we’ve got a big day tomorrow. Ash let pikachu get some rest then went to his room he was sharing with Brock. Before he got there he ran in to Misty who was staying in the room next to him. Ash: Hey Misty. Misty: Hey Ash, big day tomorrow. Ash: Yep, my I hope my pokemon are ready for this. Misty: I know they are, but are you? Ash: I know I’m ready because… Ash was about to tell he about his dream, but like many other times he restrained himself. Ash: Because I been through so much with them and if we can overcome the journey then we can overcome this. ‘Whew, some recovery Ketchem.’ Misty: Then if you think you can do it you must be able to. I’ve never known you not to give it your all. Ash: Thanks Misty. You know I never thought you’d stay with me all throughout my quest. Misty: How could I not. You saved my life, more times than I care to count. Thank you. Ash blushed at her comment, but he still couldn’t bring himself to tell her. Ash: Your welcome Misty. You’re the best friend I’ve ever had. Just to let you know no matter what happens in this tournament, I will always think of you as my soul mate. Goodnight. Misty watched as Ash left for his room. Misty just stood there in a state of confusion. Misty: ‘Why didn’t I tell him? Oh Ash, one day I will tell you how I feel. This I promise you.’ Misty went of to her room for some sleep. It had been a long road to Indigo, but every beginning has to have an end. Misty tried to get some sleep, but it was easier said then done. Thinking that this might be the end kept her awake most of the night. The next day the competition began. Ash faced the same opponents as he faced in his dream and he easily beat them. By the time he got to Richie Ash wondered about the unknown events that would happen after that and the stress of keeping his secrets was finally getting to him. Ash: ‘Well, I’ve gotten past Richie now I don’t what’s going to happen. For three years I’ve had an idea on what might happen on the road. Now I don’t know what’s going to happen. I just don’t know.’ Ash became more reclusive as he moved in to the final four. He stopped talking to people, even his friends. Ash just spent his time feeling so alone and withdrawn. Misty: Pikachu is Ash still in his room? Pikachu: Yeah he only has been coming out for food and matches. Misty: I know something’s bothering him. Why won’t he talk to anybody? Pikachu: You know Misty, you haven’t tried to talk to him yet. Misty: Yeah, so? Pikachu: Maybe he’ll be more willing to talk to you than anybody else. Misty: Ha, why do you say that? Pikachu: Answer me this, why not? Before she could respond Misty felt she had no choice. It looked like Ash needed somebody. Maybe she could be that somebody and show Ash she had feelings for him. She went to Ash’s hotel room and like usually Ash wouldn’t come to the door, but that was before he realized who was at the door. Misty: Please Ash, it’s me Misty. I really need to talk to you. Ash: … Misty: Come on Ash I know something’s wrong. Ash: ‘I got to tell somebody. Who else better than her, I feel that if I don’t tell somebody about my dream soon I’m going to explode.’ Ash got up and let Misty in to the room. Ash: Hey. Misty: Well that’s a start. The two sat down at the small table where Ash usually eats dinner. Misty: Ash, you’ve been really out there lately. Something is definitely wrong, if you want to get something off your chest I’m here for you. Ash looked at the girl he had known before he even really met. He fell in love with her in his dream and he fell in love with her in real life. It was now the time to tell somebody about his dream. Ash: Misty I’ve gotten so far and worked so hard, but over the time of my journey I’ve had a secret. I’ve kept it from everybody I know and it’s the reason why I got so far so quickly. Misty: What is it Ash? Ash took a deep breath and prepared to spill his guts. Ash: The moment I was of age to get a pokemon I wanted to go on my journey. I was arrogant and impulsive so I wasn’t thinking straight half the time. The day I was scheduled to get my first pokemon I woke up late. I got so worried I ran to Professor Oak’s lab as fast as I could, but then it happened. Misty: What? Ash closed his eyes as he relived the painful experience in his mind. Ash: I ran across the street to the lab, but I didn’t see a car speeding down the road. Before I knew what hit me the car hit me head on. I…can’t…remember what happened much after that, but what did happen is I was nearly killed. I was rushed to the hospital, from what I know, and I was almost dead. I survived, but I was in a deep coma. And I stayed in that coma for the next five years. Misty: Ash…I’m sorry you had to go through that. Ash: It’s not your fault Misty, but the story doesn’t end there. Misty: It doesn’t? Ash: While in reality I was comatose, in my mind…I never even hit that car. All I remember is running in to Professor Oak’s lab and starting my journey with pikachu. In my mind nothing ever happened, but in reality I was just dreaming. Misty: What were you dreaming? Ash: The thing is that the dream I was in had everything in the journey you were in with me. It had every gym leader, every team rocket encounter, and even you. Misty: Me? Ash: Yeah, you, you and Brock were both in that dream and we went through everything. You were my friend in my dream as much as you are now in reality. Misty was taken aback by this incredible story. Misty: ‘So that’s why he was always ready for anything. And that’s why he knew about everything ahead of time. It all makes sense now.’ What happened to the dream, Ash? Ash took one more deep breath to tell the most painful side of his story. Ash: Near the end of it, I was traveling with you and Brock like I had been for years. Then something odd happened, we were caught in this storm. But it was no ordinary storm, the lightning was green and the rain stung. I didn’t know what was going on. Misty could tell Ash didn’t like talking about this. He was on the verge of crying. Ash: Then out of nowhere all the lightning seems to be focusing on me. Before I knew it I felt this blistering pain all over my body that still lingers to this day. I…only remembered waking up in a hospital bed and wondering where I was. Then my doctor came in and told me about my coma. For five years I was in it and when I found out that everything that I had dreamed wasn’t real. It…felt…so painful. Misty watched as Ash became increasingly distressed by the topic. Misty: I don’t know what to say Ash. All I can say is I’m sorry you had to go through that. Ash: …It wasn’t your fault Misty. Misty: I know, but you’re my best friend and whenever you’re in pain I feel it too. Ash, all I can offer you is consolidation in you’re pain. Just remember that I’ll always be here for you. Ash: Thanks Misty, it really means a lot to me. Misty: Your welcome. Misty leaned over and gave Ash a friendly hug to show she cared. Ash felt odd when she hugged him, but it seemed to ease some of his pain. Ash: You know, I feel a little better now that I told you. Misty: I’m glad to hear that Ash. Now I’m here for you and I know now more than ever that if you can survive that coma then you can become a pokemon master. Ash: You think so? Misty: I know so. Misty’s encouragement made Ash feel a bit better. Now Ash had the strength back to win the league final four and the title of pokemon master. The next day was the beginning of the matches and with renewed confidence Ash and his pokemon blasted through the competition. Now all that remained was the three-time master Gary Oak. Ash: Well tomorrow’s the big day. The day I’ve been waiting for my whole life. Pikachu: Yeah! Brock: I wish you the best of luck Ash. Ash: Thanks Brock. The group ate at a complementary restaurant that was paid for by the Indigo league. Although Ash was nervous with his friends he was more confident than ever. His journey was coming to a close, but there was still one last big obstacle to overcome. Ash and his friends left for their hotel rooms later that night to prepare for the next day. Ash: Well, better get some sleep for tomorrow. Come on pikachu. Pikachu: Okay. Misty: Ash, wait! Ash: Oh, hey Misty. Misty: Just in case I don’t see you tomorrow, good luck. Ash: Thanks I’ll need it. Misty: No you won’t. After what I’ve seen from you over the years before and after I met you, there’s no way you can’t win. Ash blushed at Misty’s encouragement. He smiled at her in a friendly way. Ash: Thanks it really means a lot to me. I’ll see you in the stands tomorrow. Goodnight. Misty: Goodnight, Ash. Oh and one more thing. Misty gave Ash a quick peck on the cheek. Misty: That’s for good luck. See you tomorrow Ash. Misty then went to her room, but Ash stood in the hall in a trance. He put his hand on his cheek and smiled. Ash: ‘She really believes in me. She believes.’ That night Ash didn’t sleep much, but when the time finally came the excitement was all that he needed. Ash went to prepare his pokemon for the biggest battle yet. Ash: Well pikachu, here goes. Ash and his best pokemon and friend then walked out to the arena and took their places on their sides. Across the field he saw the rival he had been fighting for years. It was now or never. Gary: When I get through with you, you’ll wish you never came out of that coma Ashy boy! No words could deter Ash from his goal as he got ready. Announcer: LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, LET THE BATTLE FOR THE TITLE BEGIN! Ash sent out his espeon to start things off. Gary sent out his hypno to counter, but the more skillfully trained espeon made quick work of hypno. Gary responded by letting his houndoom roast the psychic pokemon with minimal effort. Ash recalled espeon and sent out starmie. Even though the water had an advantage over fire houndoom’s dark attacks nearly KO’d starmie. However, both pokemon were knocked out when starmie used it’s thunder attack to end the match. With one more pokemon left Ash sent out pikachu, Gary showed his will to win by choosing onix. Ash: ‘Oh no, pikachu is weak against onix, but if it can beat Brock’s it can beat this one.’ Onix used earthquake first, but pikachu’s superior speed allowed it to dodge the attack. Gary, frustrated, ordered onix to unleash rock slide; however, pikachu wouldn’t go down even after being hurt. When all seemed lost Ash realized something as onix attempted to use bite on pikachu. Ash: ‘Wait a minute, it sounds crazy but it just might work.’ Pikachu! The insides of onix’s mouth are tender! Shock him on the inside! Pikachu: Right! With unprecedented bravery pikachu jumped in to the mouth of the big rock snake and let loose a massive thunderbolt. At first it seemed like it didn’t work, then Ash noticed smoke coming out of onix’s mouth. All of the sudden onix lashed out in pain, spitting pikachu out, and fainted. Gary: Noooooo! Anouncer: WHAT AN UPSET! THE WINNER AND NEW POKEMON MASTER IS ASH KETCHEM! Ash: Yeah, we did it pikachu, we did it! Ash ran on to the field to give pikachu a big hug. The rest of the crowd applauded their new champion. Nobody was more proud than Misty at the moment, who was on the verge of breaking down in tears of happiness at the site of Ash’s victory. The win was a cause for a huge celebration, the Indigo league held a huge ceremony to present Ash with the pokemon master commendations. Afterwards there was a party to end all parties back in Pallet Town. Ash was honored by his mother and Professor Oak in royal style, but after a long, eventful day the time came for Ash to rest. Ash spent the late hours of the night in his room trying to comprehend the day that had just happened. While everybody had passed out from exhaustion outside, Ash was still wide-awake. Just then he heard a knock on the door. Misty: Hey Mr. Pokemon Master can I come in. Ash chuckled a bit and let Misty in. Ash: Hey, I saw you in the stands. Misty: Yeah, and I saw you accomplish your dream. You must feel like a million bucks right about now. Ash: You’d think that, but I don’t. Misty: What, why? Ash: Well when I received my title I still had this feeling. This feeling that something was still missing from my life. Misty: What do you mean? Ash: It has to do with my dream and how you’ve encouraged me for the last few days. Misty, in my dream the only reason you followed me is because I broke your bike saving pikachu on that first day. But this time around…I got you to come with me for a much better reason. Because I saved your life. In my dream we always fought, but in reality we became soul mates. Misty was overcome with happiness when Ash said she was his soul mate again. Ash: Also, in my dream I failed to win the Indigo league, but in reality I won. You know why Misty? Misty smiled at Ash hoping that he was going to say what she thought he was. Ash: It’s because of you. You stood by my side this time and you believed in me. When I knew that, I was certain I could win. Thank you, Misty. I can’t tell you how much thanks I have for you. Misty got teary-eyed at Ash’s remarks. Misty: You’re welcome Ash. You really are a very special guy. Ash looked in to her eyes for what seemed like forever, then he had a thought. Ash: ‘It’s time.’ Misty, there’s something else. I’ve realized why I had that dream now. It’s because in that dream I made so many mistakes, the biggest one was not telling you how I felt. Now I want to correct that mistake. Misty Kasumi Waterflower, I love you. I love you deeper than anything else in the universe in my dream and in reality. Misty was overwhelmed by Ash’s confession. Misty: ‘He loves me? He loves me!’ Misty responded by gently leaning towards him and giving him a long passionate kiss. Ash, surprised by this, did nothing but kiss back and hold the girl of his dreams in his arms. Misty: Ash Ketchem, when you saved my life and became my friend, I started falling for you. But when you treated me so kindly and gave me love, you did steal something, something far more valuable than a stupid bike. You stole my heart Ash Ketchem and I will always truly and deeply love you with all my heart. Ash looked in to her angelic eyes and the two lovers shared a passionate kiss. Ash: Now I feel complete. Misty: So do I. Thank you Ash. Thank you. Ash: Your welcome, I love you. Misty: I love you too. The two shared one last kiss and then the new boyfriend and girlfriend fell asleep in each other’s arms for the first, but definitely not the last time. AN: Well, that’s it!
