Dis: I own this fic but I don't own Pokemon. A/N: * This means Growlite's thinking ****Speck**** By: StarrybluMew Chapter One: A Silver Tear A young puppy gnawed happily on his tiny dogbone as he dreamed of his only wish---someone to play with. The young pup lived on a quite farm that was located near a big watery city called Olivine City. Since he was the youngest one on the farm, no one bothered to play with him. Whenever he tried to play with Bessie, the best Miltank on the farm, Bessie would just swish her tail and moo. Most of the time she would kick the pup away with one of her back hoofs so he didn't really enjoy 'ole Bess much. When he tried to play with the sheaves of Mareep and Flaffy's that lived in the farm's acres, the wool would send a jolt of electricity through his small furry body so they weren't any fun at all, either. And the Growlite didn'tbother to play with the Ratatas that secretly lived inside of the farm's barn because they bit anyone who got close enough. Sadly, the pup didn't have any friends at all even though he still wished and prayed for one of his own. Snapping out from his daydream about playmates, the puppy's ears stood stright up as the loud creaking sound of his master's armyboots came out from the barn. He was a tall man with a gray wirey bread and cold green eyes. He always wore his armyboots and his blue denuim jeans to show who was boss, and his ugly green jacket that had turned brownish/green over the long years. He stepped out of the barn carrying a gray milking pail that was filled with Miltank milk and stopped dead in his tracks as he saw the pup wagging his tail at the sight of his master. The old man gave an angry grunt as he told the pup "Now you listen here mutt," the puppy's tail went flat against his body. He hated what was coming next. "I want you to get that gosh dam smirk off yer face and be useful for once." With a hard kick of his boot, the pup went flying into the haystack. "Dam mutt..." the man muttered as he walked off into his house. Five seconds later, the puppy emerged from the golden hay with a limp paw. As he limped back into the only safe place he knew---inside his doghouse, the puppy couldn't help but feel like he was useless. No body ever offered to play with him or no one ever offered to feed him. Because at the barn, the puppy had to defend it's self. Surrvial was the key of life in the puppy's oppinon and that was pretty much the only thing he did know. Slowly the puppy crawled into his doghouse---an old barrel that was filled with soft hay, and gently laid down. It was getting late and that would mean that he would have to face his master again. Every night the pup's master went outside to look at the stars and drink his beer and whiskey. And every night he would get drunk and beat the puppy until he was black and blue all over. It went like that ever since the pup was brought back to the farm from the auction that he had been sold at. What made it worse was that every morning when the master woke up, the pup would be playing, or being careful as he played so he wouldn't get beat, and then somehow he always got caught. Master didn't belive in playing so he would knock the you-know-what out of the poor pup. Snice the puppy was to young to fight back, he would have to take the beatings until the master's supper time. Then the master would go inside and cook himself some supper and stay in the rest of the night. Well, he would if the stars weren't out but it was like that every day. Thinking about tomorrow and the beatings it would bring, a small siver tear rolled down the young pup's furry face. Then, the pup went back into a deep sleep, dreaming about never getting abused again. Chapter Two: The Escape 5 years later, That same puppy grew up to be a fierce beast. Not having to been loved for all of those years really did take a toll on him. Instead of that playful pup who used to enjoy playing with toys, now sat a big dog who didn't have any time for those stupid things. Lying in his soft barrel while chewing on that same bone, the noise of the master's screen door echoed through out the barnyard as the old brute himself walked out onto his large wooden porch. The master hadn't changed a bit so nothing was new. Well, the blue haired lady that was knocking loudly at the front door---that was pretty new. The master and the lady talked and argued for a long time. The dog strained his ears as he tryed to listen in on their conversation that went like this: Master: I'm telling ya that dam mutt of mine ain't done 'nutting wrong but sit there and do 'nutting officer. Bule haired lady: Sir, that phone call I got from Miss Rotta sounded serious. Master: Awww youse officers don't know 'nutting 'bout anything. Lady: Mr. Clark, sir, please listen to what I have to say.... Master: I ain't gonna listen to a gosh dam thing ye say Jenny because yer full of shit fer evera coming out here in the first place. Now LEAVE!!!! The dog shook his head real fast, hoping to shake the loud sound that was coming from Master and that pretty lady Master called---Jenny, was it? He strained his ears even harder to help make out the words. So far, the only thing he could hear was the yelling but not the words. Suddenly the words seemed to have gotton alot louder snice Master screamed at that one girl. Jenny: But Miss Rota said.... Master: Miss Rota ain't said shit! It was amazing how he could hear that but nothing else. Then he had an idea. Why not hide underneath the front porch? He'd be sure to hear every single word then! So he slowly and slyly made his way around front to see the Jenny girl yelling at Master. Jenny: Now you listen here, Mr. Clark! That *censored* Pokemon of yours will have to be put down thanks to you! Now I want you to go bring him to me or else! Master: Or else what?! Jenny: Or else I'll take the both of you to be put down! You got that?! The Jenny girl took out a strange metal thing and held it up for Master to see. Master looked angry but he had no other choice than to do what the officer said to do: go get him. A bad feeling churned in the Growlite's stomache as the door shut and then footsteps were heard. The creaks seemed to have disappeared after a 15 minute moment of silence, but to the Growlite, it seemed like an eternity. Finally Master stepped out of the house and gave a shrug. Master: I don't have any clue as to where he would be officer. Check the house and sereach the barn if ye don't belive me. The Jenny girl looked astonished. But she did exactly what Master said to do and started sereaching the house and the barn. Growlite wondered what all of this was about anyways? Something deep down inside of him told Growlite to run away but how could he? He couldn't just leave Master here with that Jenny girl and her strange objects, or could he? He did hate Master. But he had to stay loyal! After all, he had a heard of Mareep and Flaffy's to watch. But as he thought more and more about it, Growlite liked the idea of escape. No, not like. But LOVE the idea of escape! He had to do it! He had to get out of there as fast as possi.... "I found him!" Officer Jenny yelled as she shined her flashlite at the Growlite. Growlite's ears flattened against his furry head. Great. Now he'd never leave the farm. For some odd reason though, that pretty Jenny lady started crawling underneath the porch and reached out her hand towards Growlite. Growlite let out a deep scornful growl and before Jenny could think, Growlite bit her arm. "Ouch!" She cried out as blood oozed out of the nasty wound Growlite had left her. "You're going to pay for that!" Jenny threatend. Growlite licked his lips. That blood tasted like ketchup or it kinda did. At least he had sneaked into the house and licked it off of the floor before that witch had came. "Now you listen here boy," Jenny began. "I'm not going to hurt you. I'm just going to put you in your new doghouse and see how you like it." Jenny gave a fake smile at Growlite as he slowly stepped back. "Please come here Growlite," Jenny pleaded. "I would never hurt you." Growlite thought this over and then he carefully made his way towards Jenny. "Got cha!" Jenny quickly grabbed Growlite by the scruff of his neck and got out from underneath the porch. "So ya got e'm?" Master asked. Growlite started worrying. What if that wierd Jenny girl hurt him like Master did? Growlite started wiggling around and howling at the top of his lungs. "Shut the *censored* up!!!" Screamed Master. All of a sudden his fist came down on poor Growlite. "Mr. Clark!" Jenny yelled. "How could you do that to a Pokemon?!" Master kicked the ground and said, "Get off my property, Jenny. You and that dam good 'fer 'nutting piece of garbage don't belong here." Master started shaking his fist. Growlite let out a shrill howl as Jenny quietly walked back to her police car. Before she got in, she stuffed Growlite in a tiny crate. She sighed and said in a low whisper, "I don't blame you, you poor thing." Then she rode off silently to the pound. Chapter Three: Jody When Jenny and Growlite arrived at the Pokemon Shelter, Growlite noticed how noisy it was. Barking and meowing, even other strange noises Growlite didn't even know, were heard. "Here." Officer Jenny grumbled as Growlite entered his new cage. Inside the cage, it was very small. In one corner there was something Growlite didn't understand---why was there free Pokechow? Didn't he have to earn it? Growlite shrugged. Then he dug into the Pokechow, devoured everything in the bowl. *Mmmmm!* Growlite thought. *That tasted good!* He licked his lips in delight. Suddenly a little girl that was about six years old came running up to the cage. She had long cystal hair and deep blue eyes. She was also wearing tanish colored shorts and a white/blue sheveless striped shirt. The girl jumped up and down excitedly as she yelled, "Ohhhh! Mommy!!! Come here!!! Come here!!!" The mother of the girl came rushed over to Growlite's cage. This girl looked nothing like her child. Instead of blue hair, the mother had brown hair that was tied up in a bun. She was wearing a white skirt with a green rim and a white shirt. The white shirt was underneath an apricot shirt. "What is it, Jody?" The mother asked. "Look Mommy! A Growlite! Can I take it home Mommy? I'll love him forever!" The mother didn't look impressed. "Jody, sweetie, we've been over this a thousand times!" "But Mommy..." "No Jody! You'll get your own Pokemon when you turn ten and no sooner. Understand?" The young gir, Jody, fell to the floor crying. "But Mommy! I...*sniff* want that Pokemon!" Tears started pouring out of Jody's eyes like a waterfall. What was so special about him Growlite didn't know. But maybe that was the way all humans were like when they were little. "But Mommy! Pleaseeee!" Jody kept crying. "Oh, Jody baby, don't do this to Mommy..." Mommy, as she was called, gritted her teeth as people and Pokemon stared at the human child kicking and screaming on the floor. The wails of Jody brought the Jenny person running to Growlite's cage. When she got there, Jenny started panting loudly. "What's *pant* the *pant* matter?" Mommy shook her head and sighed as Jody went to town on her kicking and screaming. "Oh, please officer. You gotta help me here," Jenny looked concerned. "What's wrong with your daughter?" Mommy sighed once more. "Please tell her that she can't have that Growlite. I would tell her, it's just...I just lost my husband in the war and I'm just...just so weak without him!" The mother started crying. "And Jody looks so much like her father that...that I'm afraid to say no because...because I don't want her hate me! She is my husband! She acts just like him, Jenny!" Officer Jenny felt sorry for Jody's mother, she really did, but that child still needed to learn some manners. "Look Peggy," Jenny began. "You're the best customer the Pokemon Shelter has and I know how you feel." "You do?" Peggy looked at Jenny with a golden smile. "Yeah, who wouldn't? Besides, Dan was a great man so I'm just gonna give you this Growlite for free." Jody had stopped crying once the conversation began. Instead of kicking and yelling her lungs off, Jody was now clapped her hands excitedly with glee. "Wow! Thank you, Mommy! Thank you so much!" Jody started hugging and kissing her mother happily. "But there is one thing that you should know Peggy," Peggy had a worried expression on her face. "What?" Peggy asked. "Well, this Growlite's been abused." A/N: There's 3 chappies so this story will be finished quickly. That way I can get finished with Jade Hearts quickly too!
