A/N: * This means Growlite's thinking ****Speck**** By: StarrybluMew Chapter Four: The Attack "What's wrong Mommy?" Jody asked as she tugged on her mother's shirt. Peggy didn't looked scared, or at least she tried not to, because she didn't want to scare Jody. Before Dan, Peggy was married to a handsome man named Kimble. At first, they were the perfect couple but a few of weeks later, Kimble started beating Peggy. He would cuss and scream at her. Even though Jody wasn't related to Kimble, Peggy was still worried that if she mentioned Kim's name Jody would freak. Jenny sighed. "If you're sure you want e'm Peggy, you can have e'm. But I don't advise it." Jody stomped her foot. "But I want him! Please Mommy! Please?" Peggy shook her head. "I dunno Jody." "But Mommy---" Jody folded her arms as Peggy gave the 'don't talk about it' look. Peggy turned her attention to Jenny and asked, "Does he bite?" Jenny nodded as she rolled up her shevle. "See," Peggy and Jody gulped. "it still hurts. I tired to get him to come to me, but instead he snapped and left a big 'ole mark." Peggy gave a glance at Jody as she asked "Well, why is he here anyway?" Jenny replied "He killed Miss Rotta's Skiploom, Skippy, and Miss Rotta called the Pokemon Shelter on him." Peggy glanced down at the floor as Jody asked hopefully "Can I keep him Mommy?" Jenny shook her head. "Peggy, I don't advise it. Besides, we were about to put him down. He's that mean." Jody spoke up and said "But Mommy, can't we help him? He's not happy in that cage." Peggy sank down to Jody's level and whispered in a low, stern, voice "Jody, this Growlite will kill you. Do you want to die? Or do you want to live?" Jody was silent for a minute. It seemed like everything in the Pokemon Shelter had become quiet as Jody said "I'd rather die." Peggy turned to Jenny, asking for help. "Hey," Jenny began. "Don't look at me. She's your daugther." Peggy faced Jody. "Jody, why do you want this Growlite so much? Why not a nice, furry, Skitty or a Pichu?" Jody had a stern, but yet calm, voice as she said "Because I can make a difference in this Growlite's life." Everything was quiet as Jenny nodded. She quickly dug down in her pockets and pulled out a sliver key. As she placed the key in the lock and turned it, Growlite backed up and gave a snarl. With his hair on the back of his neck standing stright up, Jenny opened the cage door. Curious, Growlite walked out of his cage slowly. Jody couldn't help but smile as Growlite looked at her. Peggy, nervous, kneeled down onto Growlite's level and tried to pet his soft head. A low, but very deep, growl came from Growlite. Out of the corner of his eye, Growlite saw Jody happily jumping up and down. Before Jody's mother could stop her, Growlite lunged. "Oh my God!!! Jody!" Peggy cried as Jody fell to the floor with the beast on top of her. Growlite dug his blood-thristy teeth into Jody's juicy arm. As he went deeper, more blood came out of Jody's broken arm. All of a sudden, a loud shot was heard as Officer Jenny pulled the trigger. Slowly, Growlite gave out his last breathe and fell to the ground. His blood covered half of the tiles on the floor. "Jody!!! Are you OK?" Jenny screamed as a group of people gathered around them. Mumbles and whispers were heard all across the room. "Mommy!" Jody cried. "Why.....did.....Growlite...do that?" Jody sobbed. Tears streamed down Peggy's face as she replied "Honey, not all Pokemon are friendly. And I...I don't want to ever see that Growlite again!" Jenny glanced at Growlite, who had collapsed on the floor. Jenny's attention turned to Peggy. "Peggy, I'll call 911. When they come, tell them that this Growlite did this to Jody and that I had to shoot it. Got it?" Peggy quickly nodded as she asked "You mean the truth?" "Yes. Nothing but the truth." Jenny rushed out the door and to her boss's office to call 911. Jody looked at Growlite and started crying. Tears ran down her cheeks as she cried out, "Mommy! What happened to Growlite?" Peggy held Jody in her arms and craddled her like a baby as she said "Nothing honey. Now I want you to be a good girl when the paramedics come." "Paras med oh ticks? What are they Mommy?" Jody asked. Peggy glanced at Jody's bloody arm. It looked like that dam Growlite had torn the arm tissue. Or he may have ripped Jody's limbs. Peggy wasn't sure. She wasn't sure of anything anymore. She held Jody tighter against her chest as Jody began crying. Chapter Five: Broken Hope It took 2 hours for the paramedics to arrive because Jody's family lived far out in the country of Olivine City. The paramedics had led everyone that wasn't related or knew Jody out of the room. The paramedics had told Jody's mother that Jody's arm was broke. When Growlite had leapt on top of Jody and sank his teeth into her tiny arm, Growlite had torn the arm tissue and Jody had lost 10 pints of blood. The torn tissue wasn't it either. Growlite's bite broke Jody's bone. Jody's broken arm would heal in time, thankfully. But until then, Jody would have to be careful and take it easy. Hearing this news, Peggy held her head. This was all of her fault. She shouldn't have let Jody even talk her into getting her a Pokemon. They were just to big for her to handle anyways. If it wasn't for Jenny, Jody would probbly come out of the hospital arm-less. "My good God," Jenny began. "I should have put him down as soon as we got here." Jenny patted Peggy on the back. "Look Peggy, it's not your fault. It's mine. I just felt so sorry for that poor Growlite. If you'd seen what he had to go throu---" Peggy interputed Jenny. "I've seen what he did to my daughter! And Jenny, I just hope that he dies!" As Peggy cursed at the top of her lungs, Jody inched over to Growlite's limp body. She ran her hand through Growlite's soft fur. She didn't know why, but this Growlite had red gushy stuff all over him. It looked like the red stuff that had come out of her arm when Growlite attacked. "Please wake up Growlite," Jody poked Growlite. "I want you to wake up." Slowly, Growlite opened his eyes. Jody smiled as Growlite looked at her. ****What in the hell is she doing?**** Growlite thought to his self as Jody hugged him. Before Growlite could attack her again, Jody whispered in Growlite's ears "I love you." Growlite's ears went flat against his head. This little pest *actually* liked him. No, instead she *loved* him. Although he hated to say it, but Growlite was touched. Deeply touched. Before that strange blue-haired lady had come to take Growlite away, Growlite would lean against Master's door and listen to his televison set. He would listen to people and Pokemon singing and dancing. He would also listen in on Master and hear the T.V. say the 3 words, "I love you" as the pictures and images kissed (Master had a screen door). But what he couldn't figure out, was why this Jody person wasn't afraid. As Jody patted Growlite on the head and kissed him, Peggy started looking around the room. "Hey, Jenny?" Peggy asked. "Yeah? What's wrong Peggy?" "Where's Jody?" Then, the both of them turned around to find Jody playing with Growlite. "Oh my God!!! Jody!!!" Peggy screamed as Jenny grabbed her gun. It hurt Growlite to get up and walk around, the loud noises coming from the Pokemon's cages made it even worse, but whatever made his new master happy made him happy. "Jody!"Jenny called as Jody and Growlite ran around in circles. "Get outta of the way!" Jenny yelled as she focused her aim on Growlite. It was hard because they were running around, but Jenny had to focus. "Jenny! That dam mutt's chasing after Jody! Blow his dam brains out!" Peggy cried. "Hehehe!" Giggled Jody as Growlite tackled her on the ground. Jenny, nervous and scared, pulled the trigger. A loud sound was heard and then slience. The slience broke as a small figure fell to the ground. "Yes!" Jenny chanted. "Yes! Yes! Yes!" Jenny whipped around to see Peggy, her hand over her mouth. "What's wrong Peggy?" Jenny asked as a worry crease appeared on her forehead. "Growlite....saved Jody." Peggy mumbled as Jody cried out "Oh no! My bestest friend!" Jody turned around to face Officer Jenny. She looked horrified as Jenny dropped her gun. The sound of the gun as it hit the hard floor echoed throughout the room. "How...how could you Mommy?!" Jody screamed out at the top of her lungs. "How could you!?" Jody fell to the ground crying. Jody held her knees up against her body as she sobbed madly. Peggy walked up to Jody and said, "Jody, I thought that Growlite was trying to kill you. You're the world to me, Jody. I love you so much." Jody looked up at her mother and said, "If you really did love me Mommy, then you wouldn't hurt Growlite." Chapter Six: My First Pokemon! A couple of hours later Peggy, Jenny, and Jody were all waiting patiently out in the lobby of Philis Ark. Philis Ark was one of the best places to come and get your Pokemon healed up. All of the vets were friendly and you didn't have to pay that much money for surgery or for your Pokemon's check-up. Officer Jenny picked up a magazine that read Pokemon Pal on the front and began flipping through the pages. She stopped at a page that had a picture of a Ponyta and a little girl. "Hey Peggy!" Jenny held the magazine up to show her best friend. "What is it?" Peggy asked, uncertain. "Take a look at this." Jenny handed Peggy the magazine. As Peggy read what the article said, Jody thought about Growlite. She was worried that he wouldn't make it. Although Jody was little, she was smart for her age. It didn't take long for her to figure out something was wrong and today, something diffently went wrong. "Mommy, will Growlite be okay?" Peggy set the magazine down on her lap as she replied, "Jody, honey, everything's gonna be just fine." "But Mommy...." Peggy wagged her finger at Jody. "You wait and see." A docter dressed in a white lab coat (or whatever they wear) walked towards them. He stopped when he saw the little girl with the blue hair and said "Are you Jody?" Jody looked up at the man and said "Yes." The docter smiled as he pulled out a piece of paper and a pen out of his pocket. "What's this?" Jody asked as he handed them to her. "Well you see Jody, at the Pokemon Shelter you have to sign a piece of paper." "What for?" Jody asked. "Because if you don't sign it, you can't have your new Pokemon." The docter looked at Peggy and Jenny's faces, they were shocked. "So you mean?" Jody asked hopefully. "Yup. He's all yours. But first you need to sign this piece of paper." Peggy smiled at Jody. "So is he gonna be alright docter?" Jenny said. Peggy gulped. Jody held on to the arm-rests of the chair. The docter nodded in agreement. Jody leapt outta her chair and yelled at the top of her lungs, "I caught my first Pokemon!" and did the peace sign. Jenny giggled as Peggy said, "Oh, great. Jody's taking after Deliah's kid already." Jody turned to face Peggy and said "But Mommy, he's hot!" Peggy let out a laugh as Jenny hit her knee. "Good thing he's the same age as her. Other wise, we'd have to break her poor little heart all over again." Jenny teased. Then all of the laughter ended as soon as it began as Jody raced towards the front desk. "Jody!" Peggy scolded. "Get back here now!" But it was to late. Jody was already petting a well known figure. " Wait Peggy! Look!" Peggy and Jenny quickly walked over towards Growlite. He looked as if nothing had ever happened to him in the first place. "Good to see you back, Growlite." Growlite looked up at Jenny, then at Peggy. But Peggy noticed how he had given them just a glance. The way he stared at Jody, Peggy knew instantly that these two would be inserable. So with that Peggy, Jody, and Jody's new found friend all went home as Officer Jenny went back to her house near Goldenrod City. A/N: I hope ya loved it so far. This isn't the end of the story.
